I can get a pretty smooth 60 fps if I lower the resolution to 900p so... I guess that'll have to do. At 1080p it's pretty janky even at the lowest settings otherwise.
Lumasharpen makes a huge difference with their TXAA. I'm just using the default settings but it got rid of the feeling that my eyes were out of focus.
Still wish I could hit a solid 60... maybe I'll try turning off VSync and see if tearing is better than jumping back and forth between 30/60.
Running game on 1080p and resolution scale @
50%
75%
100%
Edit: Am I just blind or is it really that adaptive resolution / resolution scale does nothing?
Oh ffs, Wish I could refund this game, but I bought it on GMG.
Yeah, I'm currently testing to see how many, and I'm not sure if it's all, but it appears to be several of them. I'll report back with a list after I'm done.
I wouldn't recommend 30FPS for this game. Makes mouse super sensitive and loading times skyrocket.
Day9, streamer from twitch, tried playing the game for 2 hours and gave up. He has 980Ti.
I guess i dont even want to bother trying. Sad but true reality, you cant be certain if its gonna work.

That's insane.
Which ones are the worst performance hitters? I noticed that dropping form Ultra to Very high did nothing on my 1080 to try and force 60FPS at 1440p.
How does one add in Lumasharpen? Take it's a sweetfx config?
Didn't The Evil Within also use Idtech5 and had performance issues? I wonder why they didn't go with U4, the original dishonored ran on my then assy laptop pretty well..

Same here, bought it from instantgaming, i wish I could refund it because this garbage doesnt even deserve 5$ in its current state
I dont get it, why didnt they just use UE4 ?
Me as well. I'm going to stop buying from sites that don't offer refunds, not worth saving a few bucks if the whole thing ends up broken again.
Again, money. Bethesda owns id Tech, so it's either royalty-free, or if they are paying a royalty it's to themselves.
With UE4, or any other externally-developed engine, they have to pay a royalty fee to someone else. To someone like Bethesda, paying that royalty fee isn't worth it -- especially when you have a "perfectly fine" engine (to them, at least) in-house that costs you nothing, or very little.
I understand and that makes sense, but why id tech 5 ? id tech 6 ran superb in Doom

This is actually a standard nowadays, only 10% of PC games get released without any kind of issues, I am sure it';s gonna be fixed, but not today or next month, we'll enjoy it in its full glory probably in ~6 months, we just paid money for a broken POS.
I'd say this is extreme hyperbole. Most PC games are more or less fine. Games with a notable amount of issues are quite rare.
And even then YMMV. The Evil Within and Wolfenstein: TNO both still have issues for me.Never buy a Bethesda game at launch. I learned that from The Evil Within.
I guess Doom must have impressed me so much performance and gameplay wise that I forgot about the Evil Within and New Order's issues with ID Tech 5. Oh well I'll make sure to follow this rule again.Never buy a Bethesda game at launch. I learned that from The Evil Within.
Guys, I think I just beat you on insanely bad performance.
This is my game at 640x800, Very Low, All Effects Disabled. On an R9 290 and an i7 3770.
I thought this was impossible. I am absolutely fucking stunned.
This game is especially bad with AMD CPU overhead so you are being bottlenecked by the CPU, which is kind of insane with that cpu. Increasing your res and graphics changes nothing for this. Lowering you res only works when you're GPU limited.
It also seems like it's mainly using the first two cores. That might explain the CPU limitation.
AMD GPU drivers are less efficient than Nvidia's drivers, so your CPU load will be higher. A CPU core at 90% usually means lowering resolution won't help your framerate.Do you really mean CPU? Because this isn't an AMD CPU.

CPU overhead is because of the GPU. In this game AMD GPUs need much stronger CPUs than power equivalent Nvidia cards. This exists in most DX11 titles have this but not to this extent.

Oh you've got to be fucking kidding me. Now the game won't launch. At all.
I literally haven't done anything but browse the internet and make some dinner in the past two hours but the game now won't launch. Taskbar shows it pop up when I launch from Steam, then completely disappear. Sometimes the screen flickers.
I restarted and same thing.
Fuck everything.

EDIT: So I actually went lower, to 240x300 because, hey, why the fuck not?

He's got a lot of CPU space left too, I don't think he's CPU limited eitherWhy are you lowering resolution when you are CPU bound?
GPU is at 24% utilization, lowering resolution or increasing wont change performance in this scenario.

Both the GPU and the CPU have headroom, but the FPS is tanked. That's a sign of some bad juju going on in the code...
According to SteamDB, Dishonored 2 was updated two hours ago.
Harvey Smith can't give an ETA beyond confirming that Arkane's working on a patch.

Damn TXAA makes the game look noticebly blurry. I much prefer the sharper look without it, but that means the game becomes full of aliasing. FXAA doesn't do nearly as well in that part, so it sucks all around.
