Dishonored 2 PC performance thread

Christ, I don't remember the game looking so poorly texture-wise.

I did "cheat" a bit in that I did real closeups of those textures, they do not look that bad from the distance, but they should never be inspected up close. Bioshock 2 suffered from similar issues, it actually had worse texture quality than Bioshock 1.

And don't even get me started on Rage textures...

IDTech FTW!

But what irks me the most is that they had those awesome hires textures but did not use them for PC version. It's agonizing when you see them when reading "The Dunwall Archives".

Whyyyyy?

I guess the art direction managed to cover this up quite a bit.

Yeah, the art direction was fantastic: http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/ra4g9n627qs9xe5oxo2uc5bxqgzry6wp

I am going to replay Dishonored on high chaos while waiting for the patch, trying no to get too close to the textures.

I wonder how it's running.

Radeon HD 7900
Codenamed Tahiti, the Radeon HD 7900 series was announced on December 22, 2011.

I am glad he is playing on a 5 year old AMD card (which BTW should run first Dishonored admirably) - he will be able to witness for himself how shitty the performance is.

Has Arkane acknowledged the PC sound mix issues yet?

Day 1 patch (was included in PC preload) already "fixed" it. It still has major issues from audio levels to audio cutting out randomly. Hell there are moments where you can hear NPC walking and/or talking only if you have NPC on your screen, look away and all audio NPC creates gets cut off.

Wait for his tweet saying it runs great on his system.

These issues are way more annoying that the framerate stuff, stealth games need good audio.

Dat glorious 24fps experience on Low... priceless. XD

There is no way he didnt baited that reaction with the tweet about the low spec pc just to say "Its everything fine, nothing to see here."

My faith in the Industry its negative at this point.

I7 6700 k @4ghz
Gtx 1080
16 gig ram

Really like the game but i just cant play it, in the second chapter where theres sun graphical effects its just all over the place, drops from 90 to 30 at will

Wow. First Mafia 3, and now this. What the heck is wrong with those developers? It is 2016 FFS. I have similar specs; I will pass on the game until a proper performance patch (if possible).

Harvey does not seem to versed in the PC "intricacies" - he is not even sure which exact Radeon model he has - he wrote he has "Radeon 7900" and someone on twitter tried to instruct him how to check what model specifically - although he failed at it.

If I'm not mistaken DeviceID of "0x679a" is 7950:

I still have utmost respect for him for his previous games and hope the PC version will be fixed. He is still affirming that they are working on it:

And apologizes for the state of the game at launch (which he obviously must have been aware of):

I like how he says the game runs fine on his 7950 but he has to "back away from some ultra settings" :D

Because some levels are too complex for this card:

I mean, I did tell him that it doesn't matter what specific GPU he has. That line is so old that his performance would be awful... and then linked GPU-Z if it really mattered to him/the rest of Twitter.

The stutter is real. Can anyone check if it also happens when playing with a pad instead of a mouse?

Using a pad, stutter is awful.

Even when running at 90FPS on my 1080 in the opening, stutter was so bad. I limited FPS to 60 using Nvidia Inspector and have a GSync monitor. Still looks half as smooth as it should. Didn't help at all.

I think he can get 30FPS with Ultra Low settings :b You need 1070 / 1080 for 60FPS at Ultra Low after all.

Indeed, a GTX 1080 in his own words is for very low 60fps

With that configuration i bet he can get easily above 30-31fps on ultra low 480x320 rez

ayyy lmao

someone ask him to screencap his fps

Also, hd 7900 is not a gpu but a series

If youre expecting Hitman to run much better then youre in for a suprise lol

Hitman runs significantly better than Dishonored 2. It's demanding but performance isn't anywhere near as erratic. The mosue support isn't broken and there's no crazy judder that makes your framerate feel far worse than reported.

Even Farming Sim 17 has more owners and spectacular reviews compared to this garbage, I tried playing it again and couldnt resist more than 15 minutes, its unbearable

So, what's the best way to make this playable.

My Framerate died with a i7-4790 and 390x and I tried it on my friend's i7-6700k and 980ti and it's not much better. I mean, that's better than 90% of what people use for PC gaming.

This kills me. Dude is a game developer and has such an old graphics card in his system, doesn't know how to find out what model he has, doesn't check fps while playing his own damn game...

Come on... Yes, I know he's a level designer and writer foremost, but people in this thread have more knowledge than a guy who works in the game industry and shipped a few games under his name

Refund and wait for a patch.

Seriously, it's a terrible, unoptimized port.

BTW, I'm very picky about saying "unoptimized". Most of the time, people accusing ports of being unoptimized don't understand that "Ultra" means very different things depending on the game. Dishonored 2 barely runs well for anyone and it has all sorts of strange PC-exclusive bugs.

I imagine he is more console gamer than PC gamer. 3 years old rig with even older GPU kinda gives that away. Not that there is anything wrong with it.

Seriously. His rig pretty much proves he's just not a primary PC player. Since he isn't in charge of tech and coding then that shouldn't be an issue.

The game aims for a 30fps goal (with frequent dips) in their main target platforms. Of course, he will consider it a fine experience if he can get similar performance.

WTF are you talking about?

In earlier tweets he was downplaying PC performance issues and scale in which it's affecting users. According him only small minority of PC players and configs were experiencing drops in performance. Then suddenly it became widespread issue and something that studio is very concerned with.

He probably played the opening section and came to that conclusion, then made it out and realized that the port is a problem.

Also, since when do you need to own a good PC to design games?

When looking at his tweets from today he just today started to play the game on his home PC. He reported good performance after dropping settings, like one would expect with this rig. What I think turned PC issues from minority issue to majority issue was scale of reports of bad performance. That shit was all over Reddit, GAF and, I imagine, Twitter feeds of developers.

hi guys, game runs great on my hd 7950

hi guys, a 1070 should be adequate for 60 fps at 1080p on the lowest settings

OK well if you're the type of dude who wants to get hung up on two or three tweets out of literally 100+ which acknowledge that they know about and are working on the issues, I can't really change that for you.

you mean the 100 copy pasted tweets that dont actually say anything?
