The original name is Zootopia. If you start including the Zootropolis, you might as well include Zoomania and all the other international names. ;)

This guy is totally gonna be the villain, because movies are predictable.

That is exactly what I was thinking reading through the OT lol.

Can't wait to see this though, everything I saw so far looked fantastic.

But in everywhere where the movie is actually playing right now, it's called Zootropolis, so I don't see the harm in including the name on the title.

Man, is there an explanation for the release dates? Not that I'm complaining. Now I got plans for the next weekend. :)

Speaking of differences, I know Japan is getting different animals. What about other countries?

Ah, just remembered something: there are a couple of very scary scenes (kids were freaking the fuck out all around the room) so be aware of that when you take your kids to see it.

omg, this is going to be good.

(except for that Shakira gazelle. i still cant stand her, is she annoying or appears too much?)

It will be out this week Wednesday in my country, I'll watch it there.

I've already made my claims on the movie though.

Maybe they just thought it sounds cooler, Metropolis is a big city, while an Utopia is an idealized society, wich i guess Zootopia wont be.

Zootopia's plot relies on animal stereotypes (in a meta level), hence why it's not a utopia. With that said I get the feeling utopia isn't a common/popular word hence why the name change.

That fox quite possibly has the most punchable face I've ever seen.

Seriously, that shit-eating Bategrin is so horrible. It's the definition of why I can't stand most 3D cartoons these days.

He's supposed to be that way, it's part of his personality. I don't think you can fault the animators for making the snarky fox look like a smart ass.

Gazelle is Zootopia’s most popular celebrity. She believes in true social justice, and for Zootopia to become a more accepting, loving place. She wants equality among the castes of the Zootopia and uses her art to express that. Her character was inspired by Adele. Gazelle is voiced by Shakira.

This really pisses me off thinking it over.

I mean, besides the fact it's a pop-culture reference that will date the movie for future generations, it doesn't make any sense! Like, you want to have a reference to Adele because of the pun, but then you make said character completely different and unrecognizable from the real thing and cast a different singer who is tonally different from Adele. This just bugs me.

I bet they thought of the pun first and couldn't get Adele to sign on, so they just said fuck it.

she's an ignorable character though

hell in the internet the tiger dancers are more popular than her

It's not out in Ireland until the 25th March and for some reason called Zootropolis.

Not sure when it's out in the rest of Europe but the hype might build over the next month. Saying that I didn't know this movie existed until the sloth trailer was released.

Just saw it 2 days ago (Belgium), and I had a great time ! The plot wasn't too predictable (which is a surprise for a disney, imo), the jokes were on point and clever and visually it was simply amazing ! (will watch again for the animation alone).

Overall, a great movie !

Nice. Sounds good!

Just got back from an advanced screening of this. I loved it! The animation is so good, there are some really stand out shots where the performances are just awesome. I kept taking in some of the background characters, and appreciating the character designs in general. The film is gorgeous all around. The casting is very solid, the humor is nice and offers a lot for older viewers without taking away from the family friendliness (there was a particular Frozen related joke that got a great reaction from the audience).

I know Disney's mentioned being anxious about the film's reception, since their previous animal centric movies have all had disappointing performances, but I really hope this movie gets some good attention, because it's well deserved. I'm definitely seeing it again once it's released. Missed several lines because of laughter, and I just liked the movie that much.

So just finished it.

I must say, out of all the recent Disney movies this one has the best final act. Satisfying, not forced, and definitely not convulted.

The pacing can still get you though (still not fond of the sloth joke and I felt like the don joke was a bit too leaning there) but otherwise a very enjoyable film.

Way above Frozen, Wreck It Ralph and Big Hero 6. Around Tangled level, but hell I'd put it even above Tangled because it doesn't have a cop-out ending.
You could argue it has a cop-in ending heh

Also like Star Wars VII the trailers really hid much about Judy Hopps being the main protagonist with Wilde being a secondary protagonist.

Well keep your expectations in check, it's still a Disney kid's film but it's still good and honestly did an animal-themed society focus good.

Though I do wonder
who is the mayor after Bellworth gets arrested, it was shown the lion mayor was still in jail

Ok just got back from seeing it (Sadly 3D was the only option)

This movie blew all my expectations out of the water, I had very little because I don't watch trailers or pay any attention to the marketing but still.
It was WAY better then I expected.

First:
Laughed a lot, OUT LOUD it was that funny.
The combination of animals doing human things has been done now for almost 20 years but still the creators really find a way to still make it interesting funny and so well thought out.
This world really feels like a world that these characters live in and will continue to live in well after the movie.

Second:
This movie looks AMAZING, from the colors to the animation of the world, to the characters on screen it just look so so so good.
It really feels like the next step all over again.

Third:
Story, man this movie is so good on NOT falling in any of the "kids" or animation troops at all.
All the troops that you expect they find a cleaver way around it or totally go around it.

It the movie perfect?
No off course not no movie is.
But was it worth seeing in the theater? Absolutely :D

To sum up / TL;DR.
  • If you love animation, heck even if you just like animation this movie will delight you in so many ways.
  • Characters are great, funny, well thought out and memorable.
  • Story was great
  • GFX and animation itself was AMAZING.
  • You have kids? You just want to see a great and positive movie?
GO SUPPORT THE TEAM THAT MADE IT AND JUST HAVE A FANTASTIC TIME :D

@ Tricky I Shadow :
Its the real deal, you know me, you know how I love animation movies and when I don't like them I'll honestly tell you.

This was just FANTASTIC and I LOVED IT.
Sure might not be on the Tangled and/or Frozen "Magic".
But man it was WAY funnier then most animated movies I have seen in some time and it look SO SO SO GOOD.

Quick question: Did you like it more than both Wreck-It-Ralph and Big Hero 6? I thought they were pretty solid, but nothing really special or memorable.

Just got back from seeing this movie. Loved it, the plot is intriguing, the animal society is well realised, it looks awesome, and the buddy-cop dynamic between Judy and Nick is great. Go watch it when you have the chance.
