Do Final Fantasy Fans Really Want More Lightning?

Do Final Fantasy fans want more Lightning?

My vote is no. Lightning-- along with the rest of Final Fantasy XIII-- killed much of my interest in the series after being a fan for more than 20 years.

The only way the series can possibly get back onto my radar is to move as far away from the XIII universe as possible. I won't hold my breath, though; instead, I'll dig back into the earlier games in the series that I actually enjoyed.
 
Nope. When Lightning was first "announced" I thought she was going to be really cool because of her design and soldier background.


But then I played , struggled,survived throughout out all the XIII games, and found out that she was nothing more than a badly developed character who was over glorified both in-game, achieving ranks like
goddess and savior
, and by Toriyama IRL.


Sadly, the ending of LR means that she might even be involved in the endings of the future mainline FFs.

I share the same sentiment. I adored everything about Lightning when I saw CG renders of her back in 2009 - her design, her calm demeanor, her "coolness" . . . who knew things would turn out the way they did?
 
God no.

I wouldn't mind for more FFX Yuna though, or maybe some Rinoa or other FFVIII characters. Laguna perhaps. If you are going to re-use characters, at least use good ones, Square.
 
I like Lightning just fine. Besides, Final Fantasy isn't exactly replete with complex characters, so I'm not convinced there's a superior alternative to be found.
 
Even if Lightning was a good character, 3 games is e-fucking-nuff, not counting her cameos in others. I wouldn't mind if she popped her head into spinoffs, like Dissidia or KH but leave her the fuck out of mainline games.
 
I wish I never picked up Final Fantasy 13, granted I only paid $25 for it but still. It's infuriating what Square has done to their franchises, they even ruined Parasite Eve.
 
If they even think about putting Lightning in another main FF game, I will be a very angry and sad panda. And like someone said, the ending of LR is very scary as it lends itself to the possibility.

She was just bleh in XIII, but turning her into a goddess and savior? It's disgusting, like seriously, what. I hate that toriyama was allowed to do all this.
 
I actually like Lightning but god no. And "...other future Final Fantasy games"? I really, really hope that he's not implying that they're actually thinking about forcing Lightning into a mainline FF game.

Don't. Please.

Just picked up the new game and its time to have some fun. ;)
 
I don't mind if we have Lightning in another FF games as in offspin titles like Kingdoms Hearts and Dissidia etc. So I voted yes for that reason.

We have already have the last three main FF titles with Lightning so it's time for complete new FF. I don't want to see FF7 remake yet or FF15 sequel because we already seen the concept and the character Noctis for the last 8 years already.

Basically I want complete new FF for the next mainline title.
 
No, I disliked the latest three games in the series. I'd rather see a new universe that does not resemble anything like Lightnings. The games just didn't hold my interest and the games didn't appeal to me like previous final fantasies had.
 
Hell to the naw! I am 100% done with Lightning! I don't care if she appears in another Dissidia, Kingdom Hearts, and other games like that. However, future mainline games are a no go for me.
 
As a side poll, might I propose "Do Final Fantasy Fans Really Want ANOTHER FF4 Port/Remake?"

I like FF4 but holy crap, Tokita, wait five years.
 
I'm not really a fan of the series anymore because of Lightning and the XIII trilogy. Though I still love the older ones. Unless XV is GOAT, FF is dead to me.

What? Can I get more spoiler text on this? I'm not buying Lightning returns ever so I won't mind(And even if I was, I doubt I'd be interested in the story).

its Nomura's series not Toriyama's
no force in existance will make me like Lightning so any and all plans to make everyone like her have already failed by default

That's just fear mongering. Though I couldn't stand the story of LR or the ending, I have to say, the ending was conclusive. The entire XIII trilogy was the origin story for our world, or a world like ours (Toriyama "isn't sure" if it's Earth or not... but it "is connected by an outer world system" whatever that means) and while there are souls and stuff of the like, there are no more gods. So it can't be XV's world, and I heavily doubt XVI will have anything to do with the FNC
 
I don't hate her, per se... But: No. I don't really need more of her.

is a little to much.
 
Lightning needs to be in all games. The next Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Smash Bros. whatever!

Cameo appearances everywhere! Whore her out Squeenix!
 
Of course not. Almost every Final Fantasy character has been established as a one-and-done deal. Releasing sequels to numbered entries or crossover spin-offs to bring back characters doesn't change the expectations of new worlds with a new Final Fantasy.

I'm sorry, but this is just wrong. She is a great voice actress. All you have to do is listen to her absolutely amazing job as Palutena in Kid Icarus: Uprising to know that.

The problem with Final Fantasy XIII was in voice direction, not due to bad voice actors.
 
Could this be some LGBT lobby bullshit? Like SquareEnix is forced to have a strong female character. That might explains all these androgynous characters too lol

I don't know what's wrong with SquareEnix, I'm not a Lightning hater, but this is getting ridiculous. I'm still baffled that they even made Lightning Returns at this point, considering how badly FF XIII was received.

Anyway, I voted no, I don't hate Lightning but three games with her is enough.
