I think New Squaresoft just really wanted people to accept lightning and FF13, like they will inevitable accept Noctis and FFXV. We can't always get what we want unfortunately.

No, maybe a mention or two, but mostly no.
Noctis' design along with all of the other focus tested boyband pop sludge of a cast doesn't do anything for me. Final Fantasy art direction has been severely lacking since XII.
I have low expectations for XV, the character design is just another of the things that make me eyeroll aggressively. It's as if every cast member revealed in XV looks like they've been cherrypicked into generic trash like Vaan was.

13 and Lightning where so bad, I almost never want to play another final fantasy game again. I can't believe I just said that but its really true.
If 15 does not turn it around in a major way I am done with the series. As other people said there is a whole generation who have no idea what final fantasy is about and how iconic it was up until last gen. This next title will be a major point in the game's history either way.

I don't hate Lightning, (though I don't particularly care for her), but it's time for SE to cut this cord. She's been the face of FF for way too long. They need to distance future FF's from XIII. Cameos here and there won't bug me I guess, but good god they need to dial back her presence.

To be clear, I don't mind Lightning as a character. I think she's a big improvement over Vaan and Tidus. She and Sazh are about the only characters I like from FFXIII. I just don't see why she needs so many games dedicated to her. She was barely in FFXIII-2 and yet she was all over the marketing for the game. Nobody could guess that the game starred Serah instead. Hopefully Square will take a nice, long break from Lightning.
I would also like to clarify that I hate every main character in every JRPG released in the past decade and a half. It's not entirely exclusive to Lightning.
(here's a little tip. If the main character wears a shirt that allows me to see their bellybutton, chances are I will hate them.)

You know, you haven't even gotten to know the characters yet and you're writing them off because of how "pretty" they are. If I had done that then I would've written off Balthier even though he's one of the most badass characters in FF. Why don't you let the game come out and see what the characters personalities are before you start to write them off.

No. The FFXIII saga finally concludes. Just let it rest in their archive for all eternity.
If they do a Cid and just include someone with the name Lightning as a background character / insinuate that an NPC is Lightning maybe... Possibly even as a secret party member like Gilgamesh in FF6.
But as a main, 'I'm here in the thick of things' supporting role? No thanks. No where near an interesting enough character to warrant that :/

No, I don't see any reason for any more Lightning. Each and every FF character fulfilled their role in their respective games such that there isn't really any reason for them to show up in any later FF.
While I'd like a cameo simply for the sake of a cameo, the way they want to use Lightning is laughable.

What they did to her was a complete and fucking travesty. They turned her from a strong, free-willed, and confident character in Parasite Eve 2 into a whimpering, welping and gasping little girl with no mind of her own in The 3rd Birthday, to be dressed up in a variety of increasingly embarassing outfits at the whims of the player.

Look, I didn't have any issues with Lightning or the FFXIII trilogy but it is time to move on now. The final game in the trilogy is out and there is no reason outside of party games or mash-ups that I want to see her in any of my FF games from here on out.
