Do y'all still eat at Chic-Fil-A?

I don't eat there no. But I've been tempted!

And it's no hypocritical. I just choose to make this easy choice. I can't look up every company and where they buy their screws, but I know about CFA. And it's easy to not buy shit there.

What I don't get is the controversy. Last I heard the big one was done of the family involved publically voicing that they thought that the American people should follow what they deem God's view of marriage and family, that's it, voicing an opinion. They never denied queers service or fought against trans bathroom rights any shit like that. Why do so many queer groups list them as the devil, considering that over the years, CFA has actually gone out of its way to fund fewer places that could be associated as conflicting to queers.

Like, I know everyone is different on it and that's perfectly fine and valid, but in terms of queer unfriendliness, I know places that could be considered a LOT worse. As for me, booth for 4 every few weeks, filled with myself and 3 queer friends.

I avoided them completey for a couple of years and felt pretty good about it, but I've fallen off the wagon a couple of times lately. The people there are just so damn friendly, and the food is fairly unique in this area from my experience. If there were another place to go for a great breaded chicken sandwich and sweet tea near me I'd probably go there instead, but as is I guess I've decided somewhere along the way that I don't feel too bad about going to Chic-Fil-A a few times a year.

There is a reason why it's not good to be that guy. It's a discussion board and there is only so much you can say about the subject. If you've had your fill, keep stepping. Every subject on this board has been talked about.

Well, except circumcision. That's one topic that's never come up around here.

I actually tip at Chick Fil A. Can we talk about that?

??? they donated money to anti-lgbt groups for awhile. last i read (awhile ago) their donation amount dropped like 99% (from like millions, to tens of thousands of dollars) but that's not really enough for me to actually consider supporting the company.

but do you tip AND clap?

new news, new thread!

Can't stand the "friendliness" aspect. At least here, you get a number or color and they just bring it to you no fuss.

I appreciate that I feel welcome at their restaurants as opposed to feeling like a nuisance at many other businesses, that's all. I don't necessarily want to have a conversation with the person working there, but a simple "hey, thanks for coming in" goes a long way to make me not feel like a jerk for walking in the door.

See, I dont actually care if people go to CFA. I go there occasionally myself. But some people got so mad about the boycott. In their minds it is better to take a stand against nothing than take a stand against something. Nothing > a little.

I can't remember the last time a fast food place didnt do this. I went to Wendy's just yeterday, "Hi welcome to Wendy's" is the first line out of their mouth.

I ate there a few weeks ago when I had coupons for free food because I figured they didn't actually get any of me money. I don't agree with their beliefs but it's really good food.

Is there any company without questionable politics?

Not one with chicken this good, for darn sure.
Although, this logic is kinda weird.

People have the right to complain about certain things. There is no order for you to generate outrage at everything. Some things bother specific people. If you have family that are gay (me), or if you are gay, Chick Fil A may be more bothersome than Foxconn. And that's ok.

No one person should be expected to have preselected outrage reactions. Black people get this with the 'why isn't there a White Entertainment Television?'

I usually have a response, like, 'Motherfucka, if it bothers you, go protest.' Besides just pointing out hypocrisy, it gets perverted into 'if one things bothers you, everything should bother you.' Which is false. Outrage doesn't make you sign a contract to have outrage for other things.

Didn't they capitulate to demands and reverse policy, ending all donations to anti-LGBT organizations? If so, why keep punishing them? We won, they lost; let it go.

I mean, if you want to choose to continue to boycott, okay, whatever, but just stop bragging about how you're such a righteous character for not eating at CFA and berating those that do eat there. But then again, in all fairness, people who bitch about the boycott can be quite annoying as well.

And then both sides will argue that the opposition are more annoying though, of course.

I go there occasionally, but whenever I'm in the vicinity I tend to go to whataburger instead because I like their food better. Chic FIL a is damn delicious though.

I'm not gonna deny myself the chicken if I ever crave it though.

They treat their employees better than the other fast food places in my area. Plus their restaurant is clean and the food is good. To me, that sort of cancels out part of the financial harm they have done. I don't go there often but don't have a problem going either.

What? Because they actually have principles they believe in? They could be making a lot more money by staying open on Sunday but choose not to so their staff don't have to work on the Lord's day or whatever. The reason their food is good, service is excellent, and business is succesful is intrinsic to their southern roots and values. I'm 100% pro-gay marriage but I think it's disgusting that they had to succumb to social pressures from a bunch of activists who are completely inconsiderate of other people's beliefs. One day this shit will be backfire on us

they gave money to a group that pushed uganda to pass a law that enforces the death penalty for homosexual acts

this isn't just a company rep saying something off-color

i haven't been in a few weeks, but i used to go like once a week, they have a free sandwich deal on fridays around here. i prefer zaxby's overall tbh

Marriage is 100% a religious institution. In the bible it says it is wrong for gays to marry and it's as simple as that. I didn't make these rules. However, it's obviously immoral that gay couples do not benefit the same social benefits that married couples do, but that can be fixed that by implementing civil unions that provide those benefits. No need to destroy an institution because you want to be a part of something you don't believe in. It makes no sense to me
Wonderful satire

Not me. I assume all major companies of that size are owned by repugnant assholes, but what I need from them is to not be SUCH assholes their assholery spills over into my line of sight. There's no shortage of crappy fast food options. I can avoid CFA, Jimmie Johns and Papa Johns easily enough. None of it is that great anyway.

Nope.

Also works out that if I'm in the mood for fast food chicken chances are there is a Bojangles just as convenient.

And the friendliness just kinda wierds me out.

Wait, what's wrong with Jimmy Johns and Papa Johns?

Jimmy likes to go to Africa and shoot animals.

Not anymore they don't. They stopped donating after the protests.

They do more than just USA anti-gay advocacy. Their board pushes money all over the world, so this "they already lost the marriage fight" sentiment is ignorant. And unlike a car or smartphone, there are many, many alternatives in this non-vital category of purchases.

That said, I can't judge much on it. It's a low value purchase if done occasionally and is similar to paying for a movie ticket for a film who's director opposes rights. It's not worth much thought on occasion.

Hm, I can't find any exact numbers. Do you have a source? The latest thing I can find is that their donations to places like Fellowship of Christian Athletes shrunk from like $3 million to $25,000.

*they stopped donating to those through the company foundation. The executives instead donate the money through other advocacy groups and privately, rather than to the company foundation for those interests

Isn't that what should happen, though? Executives should be allowed to donate elsewhere, but they shouldn't try to use the company foundation for it. They may not share the same interests.

So the issue wouldn't be that he hunts wild safari-type animals, but that he does so legally or illegally? Christ.

I mean, that is how hunting works

I wasn't arguing against "how hunting works". I was arguing against deciding your moral stance on the basis of the legality of it.

I think hunting lions is deplorable, so I will not eat a Jimmy Johns (I don't know what he hunts). I think fighting against equal rights for gay couples is deplorable so I will not eat at CFA. I think hundreds of cases of norovirus and ecoli poisoning in many restaurants with weak response is deplorable so I will not eat at Chipotle,
