Youtube is unusable without adblock.
I mean, for every user that uses Adblock. sites are loosing money from that use not seeing their adverts.
I love GAF, Reddit, and some other sites and don't use Adblock on them since the ads are quite un-intrusive but some ads (YouTube, full page banner ads) are just plain annoying.
So do you guys use them and turn them off for certain sites or not use them at all?
I prefer noscript. Allow trusted sites to run all their ads, while not letting myself be caught off guard like, say, when Siliconera has trojans infesting their ads.
Its tempting but I don't use it. Even on youtube, where to see a 2min video there's a 30 second ad, right? But I would feel bad not letting the ad run because the guy making the video deserves money.
I don't have to click on the ad that is running so that the person who made the video still gets paid right?
I think it's both, but clicks are more important.Do sites win money just by having ads or do you have to click on them first?
Do sites win money just by having ads or do you have to click on them first?
Why?I'm using a website and it should only make sense that they should make some money off my visit
Why?
I gave up on adblock alltogether years ago when I read that Ars Technica post about how much it can hurt websites, especially tech sites since a much larger portion of their audience uses adblock.
Everything but Neogaf. Your PC is less secure if you browse the general web without it. It should only be disabled on sites you implicitly trust such as Neogaf. Even things like WoWhead aren't safe, their ads have been known to have keyloggers in them.
There were questionable things in gaf ad's a few weeks ago also my nod32 was not liking it.Why do you trust Neogaf?
Obviously.lol half of you probably use it on gaf too but no one has the balls to say it. Obviously I do not use it on gaf though, obviously.
Why do you trust Neogaf?
I would rather donate literal cash then support a site via ad's. The notion of just don't visit the site is funny to me, been surfing the web the last 20 years ad blocks were a great invention after the dot com era.
People always say GAF ads are funny and I kind of feel like it's just a meme I'm unaware of. The only ad on GAF I've ever laughed at is the one about the "Hot Arab Girls" or whatever.
It's probably because they're contextualized with the topic.
Don't get any ideas Ven.TIL XenoRaven is a hot arab girl
Yes.Have you donated cash to any sites you visit?
I only turn it on when I watch porn.
Same same, gaf gold but you pay in blood for that! They can be useful for blocking specifics images. Like annoying/offensive avatars. Cutting add revenue is a dick move for site you frequent and enjoy, though. That said, I would pay for an add-free version of GAF,![]()
