Do You Eat The Muffin/Cupcake Liners?

Some guy ate a Cessna but that doesn't mean an airplane is edible.

Hopefully this isn't considered to be on the same level as that.

You're not alone OP.

Tastes good and I don't have to go put it in the bin, win-win.

Should probably be clarified that I was talking more about the muffin liners which are clear. Don't have cupcakes all that often and the one I've had were more similar to muffin esqe ones than the colorful cupcake ones.

I have scraped the residual cake off a wrapper with my teeth before (not something to be proud of), but no I've never eaten the wrapper. Unless there are state secrets printed in that cupcake wrapper, do not eat it.

Knowing GAF, I was half-expecting to see a 50/50 response in the replies.

Quite heart-warming to know that 95% of people don't eat inedible materials because cake has been rubbed against it.

Last week during Thanksgiving I was at a family event where someone had made cupcakes. I grabbed one and as usual pulled the liner out and ate it before touching the cupcake, to the apparent horror of the person standing next to me. I've always done so, as I enjoy the mixture of the thin paper and sweet bread. The person next to me as mentioned however found this pretty gross. Had never really thought of it prior to this point so where do you lie on the matter?

OP I can identify but only partially. When I eat cupcakes (in private) I tend to just eat the whole thing as if it were an apple, because I'm lazy and have bad eating habbits. Then, either I suck on the paper until it's a blob and throw it out, or if it's already shredded in my mouth and mixed with dough give it a swallow.

But going through the trouble of removing the paper only to the eat it separately? I don't think I've ever done that, as it defeats the purpose of being lazy. I do approve of manufacturing cupcakes with edible wrapping as standard though. Seems kind of wasteful to throw away the bits that get stuck to the paper.

When you eat a pear do you eat the stem?
I do, along with the core. Same with apples.

Most of GAF has no problem consuming large amounts of waste when it's mixed into the recipe a bit finer, though

Yes, I also eat the plastic around cheese slices, the cellophane covering fruit baskets and also tree bark. I'm completely out of control and my bathroom visits are not fun.

Nope nope nope... I bake twice a week, and I know there are different type of liners materials, don't eat it.

No ...those are made out of paper. Why would someone want to eat paper?

Does some company make edible cupcake/muffin liners? If so you should eat those instead, not paper.

EDIT: Oh wait, I'm misreading. OP is the one eating the paper.

Ok, your parents have failed to inform you at some point in your upbringing that you're not supposed to eat the paper. Not saying they're bad parents, but they definitely missed something here.

Why do you act like this is food? It's not food. It's as much part of the meal as eating a fork because it has bits of your food on it. You are not supposed to eat paper.

You describe it as uncommon. It is more than uncommon. It is downright bizarre and not the act of a sane human.

You do realize what you are attempting to consume is NOT edible? Don't put that in your body just because it tastes good.

There's a massive difference between eating a small amount of paper that has sweet bread on it and a fork which will slice up your insides as it goes down.
