As a side note, is it just me or did GAF just change the default font-family in the base CSS? Some of the text looks bigger to me for some reason...normally the first line in my tag only stays one line. Now it's two lines.
Wtf?

Your tag has always been in two lines since the longest.

Yeah, I tend to tune out the anime ones. But apart from those, not really. If a person has an avatar of someone famous though, I do notice myself reading their post in that persons voice.

I fucking hate your avatar fanboi. That film scared the shit out of me. I was reading that thread when you first changed your avatar and it's just been imprinted into my brain ever since.

You should watch the film.

People judge others based on what information they have about them. On the internet, that amount is limited. What a person says will be the most important indicator of a person but that doesn't stop people from being bothered by someones avatar, as that is the only way a poster has to represent something about themselves via images. Do I personally judge people based off their avatar? No, but if t's something particular offensive to me in some manner it would probably affect my opinion of the poster, even though it has no direct bearing on the content of their posts.

I don't judge the poster or the post based on the avatar, I just don't like it when someone snags the exact same one that someone else uses and has used for a long time. It's like identity theft or something. Yeah, I don't always look for the poster name.

Yes, I was also fooled by the guy that posted the picture that it was from a mental institute from the beginning of the century.

Holy shit I didn't know he changed it to a Gif. I gotta watch that movie again some time.

:lol

Either way, people just shouldn't take something like a cartoon or anime avatar too seriously. This is the internet after all.

I absolutely do if the avatar is bad enough.

Yes, Anime avatars or obnoxious Japanese chick trying to be cute renders an unfortunate image of the holder. In my mind.

Hmmm, I don't think I have ever judged a person on an avatar alone.

However, if I read someone's post and it perfectly matches their avatar (objectively or with me subjective prejudices), I occasionally just think "figures".

For example:
- Person with sports avatar going all nutty and "srs busnss" about something related to sports
- Little anime girl avatar or cute japanese girl avatar matched with some creepy post about how the rape sounds in japanese porn are awesome
- Guy with gun or American flag in avatar supporting McCain/Palin/other rightwing nutjob
- Person with Avatar movie avatar proclaiming Cameron a genius and reporting on the BO performance of the movie on a daily basis.

On the gaming forum:
- Person telling something that could be considered Sony fanboy worthy coupled with a Killzone/Uncharted/... avatar
- Person telling something that could be considered MS fanboy worthy coupled with a Halo/... avatar
- Person telling something that could be considered Nintendo fanboy worthy coupled with a Mario/Zelda/... avatar

You see, I never base my judgment on a avatar alone, but mainly on the post it's accompanied by. I never remember my judgments either. The moment the post+avatar don't match perfectly anymore, I don't judge anymore (F.e.: A killzone avatar with praise for the movie TDK, or an anime avatar in a political thread).

There is only one category where I actively judge people multiple times and try to remember their avatar to make sure I don't forget, and that's when it comes to politics and religion. I just can't let it go when people have completely fucked up views. I'm not talking about laissez-faire vs big governments or being religious vs atheist, because a choice in these things doesn't make you a good/bad person. I'm talking about issues like war, human rights, LGBT rights, women rights, treatment of animals, racism, plain stupidity and being ignorant or proud of it, believing or selling blatant propaganda, ... However, I should stress that this has nothing to do with avatars at all anymore, and that judgment is purely based on the content of posts.

I'm curious as to what my avatar makes people think. That I work in an office? That I like the movie Office Space? That my biggest dream is just doing nothing?

I generally glance at avatars than pay full attention to them. Your a blur when im busy dissecting posts, but a recognizable, grouped and judged blur.I just now recognized its from Office space.

Little anime girl avatar

Yep. When I say I tune out anime avatars, it's these ones I'm talking about mainly, not anime avatars in general, athough I'm not a fan of any of it.

Yup, two lines is correct. But for some reason on the computer at work just a few hours ago, it ended up being three lines. Now I'm back at home, it's two lines again. I tried using the +/- thing for font and it still stayed 3 lines. N/M, maybe my browser at work was fucked up.

That reminds me of another one:

Squished or stretched pictures - I mean seriously, come on.
I thought we were Bowie brothers....that's as good as blood as far as I'm concerned. You hurt me brother...you hurt me good.

If it's Mariah Carey I do.
If it's DrinkCrow I do.
If it's Opiate I do.
If it's Gaborn I do.

Everyone else, not so much.
I cant stand that avatar!
No idea why either cus i like the video... Its probably the freakishly big eyes of that part :lol

Most of the time I don't, but there are just a few avatars here and there that I just hate so much for whatever reason that it bleeds over onto the poster.
