.Don't remaster it. Remake it.
Higher res, better textures is lazy work.
At least do a complete graphical overhaul on top of the original like Halo anniversary did. no need to remake all of the programming.
But don't remaster.
This actually turns a "not so small" project into a "huge" project. Skies of Arcadia has a pretty stupid amount of content. The game is absurdly vast, tons of places, tons of enemies, tons of events etc... So much work to make a full remake, this would be like making an AAA RPG from scratch. This would probably be more expensive than Valkyria IV.Don't remaster it. Remake it.

2008just curious when was the last time sega officially acknowledged Skies?
Imagine a remake by Valkyria staff...
Well, Camelot is producing endless Mario sport games for Nintendo. Let's release them from this sad fate. Let them make a new Shining.personally, I'd take the Valkyria team making a new Shining Force before Skies, but yes both would please me immensely
It's not that I wouldn't welcome a remake if it actually happened, I would, but let's be realistic - they only remastered Jet Set Radio and the Shenmue duology and those games were more popular than Skies or Arcadia. It's more important that the original/enhanced port is made available to play on modern platforms like a lot of older overlooked games in my opinion.Don't remaster it. Remake it.

Maybe... But i think Sega cancelled Shenmue Remake for timing reasons.(they perhaps thought the remake would be finished after Shenmue 3).It's not that I wouldn't welcome a remake if it actually happened, I would, but let's be realistic - they only remastered Jet Set Radio and the Shenmue duology and those games were more popular than Skies or Arcadia. Sega has great talent in-house for RPGs. It has always been the case, since they started making their own consoles back then with the Master System/MegaDrive.The art choices are still amazing at Sega (even when the graphics are not impressive)
So true. Even PC releases could be interesting for Sega. For instance, Yakuza Zero just sold 500K on Steam beating Valkyria Chronicles which was already a damn good performance.Sega has great talent in-house for RPGs. I would really like to support Sakura Wars too, but I only have Switch/Xbox so it being PS exclusive is disappointing. Same thing for Atlus games by the way. I hope that Sega shifts their strategy to being multiplatform as much as possible.
Oh that's awesome. Itsuki Hoshi is the character artist for Skies of Arcadia and Kenji Hiruta the map programmer. It would be great if the higher-ups at SEGA took notice.
My personal guess (yellow = easy comeback, it will arrive soon. Orange = more difficult, it will be a thing but maybe not tomorrow. Red = Fuck Nintendo, Camelot and their exclusive partnership lol. Climax Sama, please, rise from your grave! )
2.Jet Set Radio

Not bad
Great news, there's a sliver of hope after all. I left a reply there.
I just think Yakuza Studio is over busy for a JSR game right now and Virtua Fighter requires cutting edge graphics. Why do you think of JSR and VF as more difficult? JST was second by a very large margin, and its cell-shaded graphics mean that it doesn't need a huge graphical budget (I imagine Switch would be the target platform at 720/1080 30fps, with next gen consoles at 4k 60fps). I suppose it would cost more if they decided on a more open world design, but that wouldn't necessarily be the path they would take (after all, it didn't make the Mirrors Edge sequel any better, quite the contrary by most accounts).
It's been a long time since fighting games were at the cutting edge graphics-wise, so I don't think a new VF is that far-fetched either. I suppose they could put a different team on a new Shining Force.

On the other hand, Skies of Arcadia was a small team and Sega is still producing a few RPGs so it won't be that difficult, i think.
Nice twitts by the way !!!
Nothing is impossible, right? And I did not know there was a new The House of the Dead.Nice one, I would too if I had a Twitter account. Hopefully the positive response will be enough to convince Sega. A couple of years ago I would have been pretty cynical about its chances, but in the year we are getting SoR4, Sakura Wars, Panzer and HotD anything is possible!
Not for Skies of Arcadia but for less popular Sega IPs it could be a good solution. Why don't they get epic games to fund it?
I wonder if they'll ever port Jet Set Radio Future to newer platforms. Actually surprised they haven't done so yet.I just think Yakuza Studio is over busy for a JSR game right now and Virtua Fighter requires cutting edge graphics.

There are licencing issues.I wonder if they'll ever port Jet Set Radio Future to newer platforms. Actually surprised they haven't done so yet.
Aaaargh. It's usually the main culprit in these things. I totally understand though. When they ported Crazy Taxi, I wasn't aware the soundtrack was different and so it took me by surprise. But it was still fun to play it again. There are licencing issues.
Chuchu Rocket and Sonic Racing were also coming to Google Play (2019 leak) but Apple paid for the exclusivity I guess.Aaaargh. It's usually the main culprit in these things. ChuChu Rocket! would be another great Dreamcast classic to see again. I always thought it'd have been perfect for PSN/XBLA but they decided to bring it to mobile instead. Same thing with Universe only coming to Apple Arcade.
I recall reading a quote by someone from SEGA who said Virtua Fighter 6 wasn't in their development pipeline. That was almost two years ago and I would like to believe they started development since then but it's just wishful thinking right now. I used to play Virtua Fighter 4 on PS2. It looked great, ran smoothly, beautiful menu and sound.I want a new Virtua Fighter so badly
I have to play Tekken by default (that i like, don't get me wrong) but my love goes straight for VF, absolutely no doubt it !
Give us Virtua Fighter 6, it takes too long....
Remaster? Nah we need a remake.I imagine a Skies of Arcadia remaster would sell like hotcakes.
Remaster? Nah we need a remake.
There isnt good enough assets to remaster that game to look good by modern standards.
It is cool dude.I misspoke, meant remake, was just talking Mass Effect remaster and slipped up.
I apologize for the mistake
Tell me about it, I would scream and cry.It is cool dude.
This is my dream announcement though. I would totally lose it.
