does 3ds xl have screen scratching problems?

A lot of people will say yes, a few will say no.

Thankfully, I'm in the no crowd.
This isn't a "did you have a problem?" thread, this is a "is the problem still there?" thread, and the answer to that is yes. Glad I got a screen protector to take the blow, I'll need to get around to replacing that sometime.

Yep, so it has happened.

My 3DS XL has started developing those dot/scratches along the top screen.

They look like this:

I never carry my 3DS in my pocket nor do I slam the system shut. I was really hoping Nintendo had gotten their shit together after the scratching issues with the first system.

Ah, well, fuck it.

Damn looks like my OG 3DS.

Hope my XL is fine, I don't take it out so I don't think so.

Thats what happened to the first one I got. The other has screen protectors but those dots appeared again. Still.

It's still there, and it could have been avoided if the fucking system just closed like a DS instead of leaving a small crevice for dust and stuff to get in.

I bought screen protectors to prevent it because I didn't trust Nintendo to fix it. Lo and behold, dots are everywhere on my screen. Somehow, even my screen is scratched even though all I do is pet my Pokemon (beat KI:U long before I bought my second XL).

Love my system and games but Jesus Christ.

Yup, this is happening to my day 1 3DS XL too on the same side. It doesn't really show very much unless you're using 3D and looking in that corner of the screen, but it's still annoying that it's happening.

Has anyone called Nintendo about it? I think my warranty has run out though...

Actually I suspect what would've worked even better was to make BOTH screens the same aspect ratio. A huge problem is how the bottom one is wideer than the top one so the borders will rub against the top, which with dust there would cause scratches but dust or no wouldn't be an issue if the frames hit where the screens ended anyway.

And for whatever it's worth I only really had the scratches show up once I started carrying it in my pocket, I abstained for quite while due to the size, but with the revamped street pass I figured I'd take it out more often again.

I travel back and forth from college to home via bus so Streetpasses and mobility are important to me. I have my 3DS in my pockets all the time but it still pisses me off that such an issue exists. It's like Nintendo wants our systems at home instead.

A few people at my local game store have reported that issue apparently.
I however have dealt with other problems causing me to return them such as loose L triggers and loose hinges.

Point is, make sure you buy a 3DS XL from somewhere that will replace it painlessly if something is wrong with the one you buy. Although I guess the screen scratching happens after a while of use as opposed to being defective as soon as you buy it.

I've had my 3DS XL for over half a year and have not gotten any scratches on the screen. I don't put it in my pocket though and I keep it in a case when throwing it in a bag. I guess you gotta be careful with it if you don't want any scratches.

I can't see a scratch on my screens but the outer shell has some paint scratches. I don't know what to do to cover them up.
