Does anyone else have issues with PS4's Rest Mode?

all the time man.. when i leave my ps4 on rest mode for 1 night,

it stops working and i have to manually restart it..

remote play is not working ..ugh

I would love to use the suspend and resume feature on my PS4, but it's so intermittent that I can't be bothered with the pot luck nature of it anymore.

Like 60% of the time it just shuts off entirely, which wouldn't even be that much of an issue if it didn't boot in safe mode each time that I switch on after that happens. So not only does it switch itself on and off twice over half the time I try and use Rest Mode, I have to sit and wait for the "rebuilding database" bar to fill.

I just turn it off every time now, it's a shame because that feature would be really useful.

Anyone else have this issue? Any advice?
I had an issue similar to this and on a hunch I changed out the hard drive with a bigger one and it fixed the issue. My console would go into safe mode intermittently and I would have to go through the whole rebuilding database song and dance. I changed out the hard drive with a new bigger one and I no longer have the issue. Hard drive might be faulty.

I kept getting errors on boot when I had suspend/resume enabled, even if I didn't leave any applications open. I wasn't able to download anything in rest mode if the console had errored during rest, which screwed me a couple times on big game downloads. Rest mode has been fine for me after disabling the suspend feature.

Mine works without problem in any region's account, and both with discs (Borderlands) and digital (MLB). YouTube as well suspends/resumes with no problem.
My HDD is Seagate 1TB SSHD installed from day one.

Yeah, chiming in with the "won't connect to the internet after resuming" thing again.

90% of the time, it can be fixed by closing out the app and starting it back up. Sometimes it requires a full system reboot. Neither one is particularly conducive to, you know, pausing the game somewhere and then resuming.

Works perfectly for me on a wired connection. Especially good after the last update, since resuming from rest mode is super speedy now.

It's really strange to see so many varying experiences though. Hopefully those issues can get sorted out, as it's a nice feature to utilize sometimes.

My rest mode works fine.
What doesn't seem to work for me, is if the PS4 is in rest mode, and then I hold the power button to turn it off completely so I can move it around, it always has to rebuild the database when it turns back on and warns me about unplugging the PS4 when not completely powered off.

Only problem i run into is some games will start to act a little weird after a few days of only using rest mode. a simple restart seems to fix all issues

I've been using rest mode for more than a month with a game and a TV app loaded, and it's worked flawlessly for me so far.
The only hiccup I had going out of rest mode was on Monday, with Driveclub believing my PS+ subscription had expired, which was fixed by restarting the game.

Try turning off the power to the USB ports, I don't think I've had an issue with rest mode since I turned it off ~1 month ago.

I haven't had any issues at all except one time where it basically closed out of my game after resuming, which was a bit weird. Didn't even seem like an actual crash, it like went back to the system UI, got rid of the icon showing the game as running and then shifted the game's tile back a few spaces.

I'm running on a 2TB hard drive if that matters. Sorry, OP.

I don't even think that's a rest mode issue. Granted it was on PS3, but I've had that problem a couple times (most recently was playing Thief, the game shutdown saying I didn't have access to the license, but after it shut down I was able to just boot it right back up... my PS+ subscription wasn't set to expire for like 11 more months).

I don't even think that's a rest mode issue.
Yeah, it was more likely the consequence of PSN servers being DDoS'ed (I misremembered, by the way, it was on Sunday.)
Other than this curious event, I really hadn't a single problem with rest mode since I've been using it.

My PS4 has kicked into rest mode by itself while playing Bloodborne on several occasions. It got to the point where I disabled anything remotely related to rest mode in the system settings and since then I haven't had a problem (knock on wood). It did that shit to me in the middle of Martyr Logarius fight and I was furious.

I have the same issue but it happens far less often. Maybe less than 10% of the time for me.

Still, it makes me nervous each time and I'd like to avoid having the PS4 unexpectedly shut down altogether.

I have the database/storage problem. If I turn it off while it's in rest mode, it will always have to check the storage and restart.

I've been having rest mode crashes since the 2.0 update. When I try to boot up the PS4 from rest mode, sometimes it gets stuck with a flashing orange light and becomes completely unresponsive. The power button on the console stops working when this happens, so I have to unplug the console.

Suspend/resume and downloading patches seem to work fine for me. I had one issue of it not shutting down correctly (took like 15 minutes for it to actually stop blinking the white light and turn orange). I booted into safe mode and did a database rebuild and it hasn't happened again. Only other issue I've ever noticed is that sometimes I get a message that the Live from PlayStation stuff under the "What's New" tile cannot load, but I assume that's more of an issue with PSN's servers than it is a rest mode problem.

Yes. My issue is that turning on/waking up the console before turning on my TV/switching to the correct HDMI input means I get no video signal and can't do anything unless I turn the console completely off (holding down the power button for 10 seconds) and restart it.

Then it has to rebuild the database and yell at me about turning off the console/unplugging the power at the wrong time.

Not for me – I've been using it ever since it was released and has worked for me a 100% of the time; if anything i'm so surprised at how good it has worked and you're the only one i've comes across who's had issues with it.

Rest Mode has worked fine with me since they rolled out the patch and the only thing I can tell you is to reset the system to factory settings while also formatting your hard drive and try the update again. Although I can understand if you wouldn't want to do that if you have a slow internet or have data caps in order to redownload your stuff again.

My wifi always turns off in rest mode, even though i have it set not too. So it only starts downloading updates/patches when i turn it back on.

If there has been an update I'll try it again and report back.

Well me and like 30 other people in this thread.

Yeah, I'm definitely not doing that. I'd rather just live without the feature.

Mine works, but has a weird issue where it will take up all the bandwidth on my network when in rest mode, so I no longer use it.

Maybe you need to adjust some power settings? Been using rest mode almost exclusively since I bought the console and everything works like a charm.

I've actually turned my launch PS4 off twice. Rest mode all the way. I also use suspend like a boss.

I'm in your boat, OP. It has been fucked up for me ever since the suspend/resume update.

I already had a PS4 at launch with standby problems. I finally got a PS4 that worked in standby and they broke it for me. I've resorted to mostly just shutting it off all the way now too.

For me, I get the pulsing blue light error sometimes when I boot from rest mode. It never happens when booting up from being shut all the way off. And I have the same issue as everyone else with the system "not shutting down properly" at other times.

Same. I've been turning it off completely to fix it.

Never had an issue here been using it since the patch was released.

FIFA 15
GTA V

HDD: Seagate 1TB SSHD

Flawless, but I'm not using suspend that much.

EU

Games on hdd: MGS:GZ, Child of Light, ACIV: Freedom Cry, some PS+ games

Stock HDD

I've had the unit do the 3-beeps thing and shut down, but only very rarely... like it's happened maybe 5 or 6 times ever since launch. I use Rest Mode 100% of the time. Stock HDD.

Had the same issues as OP on 2.0 but since 2.01 or 2.02 or whichever was latest, not a single hiccup anymore and I use it every day. After the patch I did do a database clean as well. Works with both disc and HD games here in the US.

I used to have an issue with my PS4 where it would turn on or off on its own, or it would go into Rest Mode while I was playing. However it just stopped happening one day, and haven't had any problems since.

I used to unplug the PS4 completely since I was afraid it would turn on on its own while I was away (Which it did several times).

Now I almost always leave it on Rest Mode. Zero issues with Suspend/Resume thus far.

EDIT: My PS4 also had the "eject disc" issue. It would sometimes eject the disc while I was playing, ruining my playthrough. This was also fixed on its own for some reason... O_o

Have you tried replacing the PS4'S power lead, my brother's power lead had a lose connection causing it to randomly lose power, sounds very similar to the effects your describing. I've also heard from a lot of friends having issues with the stock power lead?

Rest mode and it's settings have been baffling to me since the start. Full shutdowns, random changes of usb port activation settings, not dl'ing updates...the feature is very flaky, im my experience.

Mine used to be fine, now whenever I use rest mode it shuts down and when I turn it on it has to rebuild database and stuff. Just started shutting it down from now on.

The only time I've ever had a problem is once a couple days ago where I brought the PS4 back from rest mode and the controller was unresponsive to the system. All I had to do was press the power button to turn it off and back on and it went back to normal.

I didn't have a game loaded at the time, I was just at the dashboard.
