Ok I can't even browse GAF anymore because now it's just a giant wall of text whenever I try to view it.

Streaming sites like Justin.tv and Ustream.com have become pretty useless right now that they added adverts before the stream begins, so the PS3 browser shows the ad with sound and picture, but when it's finished the stream of the content is played through sound but no picture.

It seems Sony keeps taking features out with it's firmware update and keeps making the current ones even shittier.

GO FUCK YOURSELF with your paid avatar bullshit, you haven't given a single free avatar ever since you decided to upload more 100x100pixel pictures after 4 years of the same ones to your shitty service. At least XBL gives out some free ones in their promotions or holiday specials and most importantly let's us use the XBL camera to take our own avatar. I know this is a small thing, but is it really that hard to give out these things for free.

Hey Sony, MS doesn't make it's entire XBL revenue from paid avatars you dumb motherfuckers, it's by providing a better usable service and charging for it, not like your shitty Playstation+, oh 2 free Fat Princess avatars and an hour of Infamous, oh don't mind if I do, let me get my wallet.

BTW where the fuck is CROSS GAME CHAT! Fuck text chat, that shit is useless when the XMB is slow as shit in the 3rd party games like Read Dead Redemption and Bad Company 2, it's slow and sluggish. By the time you opened up the text chat, you already spawned and are dead again.

Yeah the browser sucks, i had the same issue with GAF. You have to do this to fix it:
1) Google some GAF thread
2) Then click on gaming.
3) Add the bookmark.

If the browser crashes a lot try disabling Javascript.
EDIT:I gotta admit that i post a lot from the PS3.

Sorry to go a little OT, but is it possible to get Sony to reset/deactivate all slots for a PSN account, or at least just one of them? I have a rogue gamesharer on my account, we had a falling out and he refuses to deactivate my slot even If do the same for his (because he claims we had an "agreement" in the past, which was never formal in the first place). And I lost my last free slot that I was saving for myself to a stranger (I suspect one of the 3 people I shared with gave my info away).

My Mac power adapter died on Sunday so I tried out the PS3 browser when waiting for the replacement to arrive and it was just awful. Flash ads would make it hang, things didnt work properly. Its nice having a browser, but its not really that handy when it hardly fucking works

Yeah, they need to upgrade it badly or get a version of Chrome on the system. I know a lot of people knock having a web browser on a console but it was nice to be able to read Neogaf or watch tnaflix videos on my TV. But it works with fewer and fewer sites every day.

Ugh, some folks claim they were able to get their slots freed, but I guess it depends on how convincing you are to the rep.
Yeah, I was planning to set up a new account only for myself for future PSN purchases (but since only 2 PSPs are linked to my old account, I'll continue to use that for PS1 and PSP games.)

I wouldn't say it's Sony making the browser worse - I'd call it your standard updates for flash, java, etc - Sony just isn't keeping up with this. Also - some extremely dynamic flash sites work 100% fine in the PS3 browser - while others - don't. This tends to make me believe that a webmaster coded their website for crap since some work fine and some don't. That's not a browser issue, at that point.

Also - Taking your own pic for your avatar will unleash a plethora of penises, middle fingers, nekkidness, etc upon the avatars. There's a reason why you're not allowed to upload your own. While I'd like a feature to upload my own jpg or png as an avatar - there are legal ramifications for doing so.

I agree that paying for avatars is pretty silly, tho. I mean... it takes all of a minute or less to create a nice one - I see no reason they don't just give more away for free.

The rant about plus avatars is a bit misleading - wipeout hd, lbp, free games, psn discounts, etc are actually a pretty great deal. You're making Plus sound like it's garbage, lol. I've already got my 50 bucks worth out of it.

Also - if you think MS is doing their paid service right by gamers - think again. Users already own their 360's - paying for live is like buying a phone - paying your phone provider money to use that phone on their service - THEN paying an ADDITIONAL amount just to use YOUR phone to connect to ANOTHER phone just to talk.

Logitech might as well make you subscribe to Logilive to use their mouse with your computer... after you bought the mouse. It makes no sense, whatsoever.

I think PSN + is a great buy for those who want some DLC thrown their way for nothing. I agree it can and will get better in the future - but lots have already gotten their money's worth.

And yes, no XGC is pretty fucking criminal, IMO.

I've gotten all my slots freed. I told them about my "past mistakes" and wanted to feel comfortable purchasing Plus and future games. I think the browser issue is not limited to the PS3. I had the exact same issues with Firefox on my PC and laptop last week. It started on both one morning.

Resetting the profiles to default fixed the problem. So maybe its a gaf issue?

they probably had to reduce the amount of ram used by the os and that feature was somehow compromised

Maybe its not that but the 192 hz feature. I forget exactly.

One feature they added around the winter time to the music, if set to on causes the music player to no longer allow XMB to be browsed.

At the time the consensus here on GAF and on AVS forums was that the feature is not worth the loss of the XMB ability unless you have a super high end audio system and listen to extremely high frequency classical music an such, so I never turned mine on.

Yeah, I love my PS3 but they have a long ways to go until they can stand side by side with the competition with their online service. They seem to be missing the entire point of building a premium online service, most of us would much rather have expanded social features like parties and voice chat/messaging but instead they give us "free" rentals of games that most of us already own and a few other features that don't exactly leave me eager to give them my cash.

In regahds to the web browser, I use it occasionally but I'm used to it being subpar so it doesn't really bother me.
