Does Waluigi deserve his own game/game series?

Does Waluigi deserve his own game? No, most likely not at all, but that is kinda the whole point of making a game staring Waluigi, for its whole existence to be utterly absurd similarly to the Tingle game which was mentioned earlier.

True story:

I knew a girl in highschool who had some kind of sexual fixation with Waluigi. She was eccentric, potentially borderline autistic... in our drawing course she would proudly carry around and show off her binder filled with erotic Waluigi drawings. I recall once she wore a homemade shirt to class that read, 'Because Waluigi owns you... and me." I suspect she was working through some emotional turmoil and for whatever reason needed to channel it into a character. Because her condition was obvious to most, no one in our class ever attempted to broach the subject.

Since then I've never been able to see that character in the same light.

Does she have a deviantart or something?? Myself and a lot of people I know would get a major kick out of this, as we've joked about Waluigi in similar fashion.

I've personally liked the character since his first inclusion in Mario Tennis. His design was good in the way it parodies Luigi the way Wario parodies Mario, and his point-victory celebration involves fucking EVIL EYEBEAMS. What's not to like about that? The only real knock I have against him is that his upside-down L is stupid, but that's just a logo on a hat, so whatever.

Maybe a whole game centering around just Waluigi would be pushing it, but I always thought it was a tad odd and a slight bit of wasted potential that he's never ventured outside of the party-style games that first introduced him. I don't know why Nintendo's hesitant to incorporate him into the actual Wario universe, whether it be in Wario Ware or Wario Land. My ultimate hope is still to one day have a Mario game where you can play as Mario and Luigi, with Wario and Waluigi as the main antagonists. Rekindle that rivalry!

I have loved Waluigi for ages just due to how absurdly lazy he is as a character. Nintendo couldn't have possibly tried any less to be original and it showed. However over time he developed quite an awesome personality and is now one of my favorites of all when it comes to characters in the Mario universe.

Oh, and the Brawl in the Family version of him is amazing.

I don't think he deserves his own game, but I wouldn't mind him showing up in the Wario games, or in the Mario RPG spin-offs. I'm surprised Daisy has yet to show up in those.

Not to the point where it's worth arguing over, no. It's not like he's some deep character with qualities worth debating. You either like him or don't for superficial reasons because theres nothing to him, much like the other Mario characters. Hence all the tongue in cheek responses in this thread.

So the people who are pro-Waluigi (shoot me for saying that) are also just kinda joshin' around?

Well consider me shrugged. Thread asks if he should get his own game, I say "Why not?".

The only real knock I have against him is that his upside-down L is stupid, but that's just a logo on a hat, so whatever.

Maybe it's supposed to resemble the katakana character wa (ワ) or something? Wrong direction and missing a stroke, but...

I love the idea that Waluigi is just some creep who just started following Wario around and keeps turning up to all of these games even though noone has any idea who the hell he is. And then Wario just rolls with it.

He's 1 of the best Super Mario characters ever.

My ideal? He's a silent movie villain reference, so give him a god game that's basically Dungeon Keeper or Chaos Seed. Even better, make Luigi (in scared mode or hero mode) the guy trying to steal from him. Waluigi can expand his dungeon to mine for wealth and he can set traps to keep the Super Mario heroes from stealing from him. Make it comic and tongue-in-cheek, and you have a for-hardcore-gamers-only masterpiece.

Heck, it would even explain why he hasn't shown up elsewhere. MAKING MONEY, SON.

Edit: DAMNIT, GABORN.

My idea

For example, create a game where you are Waluigi, you're in a castle with Daisy as your hostage and you're trying to stop Luigi from rescuing her. You can set traps, control baddies and generally slow Luigi down from rescuing her. Imagine using the UPad control goombas in batles, setting thwomps up, making a lava pit... but before Luigi plays through YOU have to to show that a level is beatable. You also only have a limited number of resources say and can send shy guys and others on missions (controlled by you) for more gold to buy more traps and create harder levels. Think of it like this: You start out with a hub, Daisy is tied, bound and gagged in one corner, in another is a shy guy, in another is a goomba (and a few others of course).

On the UPad is a map, you see Luigi's face and how far away he is. You can send shy guys to bother him or slow him down but you can ALSO send them to hunt for more gold to buy more enemies.

When you do this the map goes from the controller to TV. If you choose to harass Luigi you control shy guys and he's (for some reason) in a biplane, the goal is to shoot him down and he'll eject in a parachute with an L. If you fail he doesn't lose time and you lose gold. If you succeed he is slowed. Meanwhile, the Upad screen has the hub.

Second possibility, shy guys are going to steal gold. There is a village and you can enter homes, break things, and generally steal gold all while Fire Mario is shooting fire balls at you.

The Goombas are your troops, you can buy foot soldiers to essentially slow Luigi more, but also to place in the levels of your castle. The Castle itself is owned by you but there is also say a master of arms you have (I'm not sure who would be most suitable) who you go to for the level building mode. As I already said you must play any level you create for it to be playable. However long it takes YOU to get through is how long it takes Luigi.

I think you can kind of see where I'm going with that.

i completely serious when i say they should make a 2d platformer super wario bros :) i love the wario land series.

also a 3d mario should wario and waluigi as the true villains who are dressed up in a bowser suit, but then jump out at the end just for wtf lolz

A tad surprised there isn't a straight up Wario Brothers v Mario Brothers as a 4P co-op (2 v 2) versus game where the former are wrecking stuff and the latter are trying to stop the former wrecking stuff.

This is all we need.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again - we need a Waluigi game that uses this art style:

If not for every single element, then just make Waluigi look like that and slap him into a 'regular' looking Mario game. The actual game is irrelevant, just make it look like that.

People keep saying he's "developed a personality", but how? Have they ever had him do anything even remotely interesting beyond the crotch-chop?

Wario was borne out of a very specific frustration - namely, the handheld division resented the fact that the Mario games were successful but their own original concepts were struggling, and so this weird Mario parody bubbled up out of that (well, that and the Wrecking Crew thing). Waluigi doesn't even have any historical significance beyond "Wario needs a tennis partner". I'd rather they made a game about the chimp from Galaxy 2.

Luigi was just a palette swap of Mario, you can do that for all characters.
Donkey Kong was boring before DKC, Yoshi got his game right out of the bat, Waluigi should be at least heavily involved in a Wario game.

Well I personally think Waluigi and Wario have more personality than Mario and Luigi. :P

They're greedy and selfish. They'd con each other for a penny, despite being partners. (and/or best friends?) They have a certain slapstick value that I appreciate. Something like The Three Stooges. I just find them more vivid with everything than Mario.

Although I have no idea how a Waluigi game would work though. Personality of the characters have only been rather important in the RPG games, I believe.

Wario & Waluigi together? Sure. Make it a puzzle platformer filled with slapstick humor and I'll bite.

Waluigi alone? I doubt it.

I think it would be great to have a Waluigi game. Nintendo needs more games where you play as the villain or an anti-hero that isn't irritating.

Mario, Luigi, Peach and Daisy team up to fight Bowser, Wario, DK, and King Boo. Just when you think you've won... it's WALUIGI TIME. You lose.

Wario = Mario with the M reversed (vertically).
Waluigi = Luigi with the L reversed-oh wait that doesn't sound good, particularly since he kinda looks like a caricature of a certain oppressed minority group often associated with:
They're greedy and selfish. They'd con each other for a penny, despite being partners.
So I don't think Nintendo would want to elevate his character any more than necessary, if only out of fear that some dimwit writer will inadvertently add that he doesn't like shellfish.

I'd like it if it's directed by Matthew Tarantino, the one who does the Brawl in the Family comics.

Waluigi hate? Come on peeps, he's a cool guy. I'm all for more Mario characters as long as they keep up with them. I just miss my RPG crowd like Geno and Mallow. I don't think he should get his OWN game though when we have better characters that could have their own game (Bowser!)!.

Exactly. Again, I wouldn't mind Waluigi getting his own game, provided someone like Bowser finally gets his due.

(Sorry, I don't count M&L3 as being Bowser's game, because it was still a M&L title at its core.)

A Waluigi Heist game would be fantastic (I hate Wario, so I'd not want him in there).

But you know what would work great for Waluigi's cheating style? A Mushroom Kingdom "tower defense" where he sets up levels and various Toads try and traverse the terrain, but Waluigi is there to set traps and, of course, taunt the shit out of them.

Waluigi Visual Novel for the 3DS. Waluigi no Naku Koro ni

A highly-sexualized eroge where you can date multiple Waluigi's, such as the megane Waluigi, moe Waluigi, tsundere Waluigi, and the yandere Waluigi.

Every ending is a WALUIGI END. uguuuwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~

I'd just like to see him appear in the Wario games at least. I'd also like to see Daisy and Birdo appear outside of the Mario spin-off games again...
Didn't that game make him into a massive wuss
He's pretty much always been the wuss, or shy.
Is Waluigi even Wario's brother.
Some places say he is, others leave it ambiguous, and some flat out say no. So who knows?
Toad hasn't had his own game.
Wario's Woods stars Toad
That's not how you spell Krystal
Don't worry guys if Waluigi doesn't get a game, he will be a character in SSB4 as a character.
I'd settle for Tingle, but it would be nice to have all 4 of those overalls wearing plumber guys.

Captain Syrup needs her own game.

Pirates>Plumbers who never do any plumbing

Waluigi sucks.

You know, one good way to judge the value of a character is in how many haters he generates ... so you basically just helped prove the point of the OP.

Waluigi should be in the next Pilotwings. Wario is the colonel back at HQ giving you instructions while flying something pedal powered.

And the giant robot from Pilotwings 64 should also be a giant Waluigi.
