Does your PS3.... vibrate? -_-;

Uh, yeah, two things...


1) Either I just never noticed it, or this is new... My PS3 vibrates sometimes. I can feel it through the desk even. I'm guessing it has to do with the fan going up another level maybe? I'm not going to risk anything so I need to ask. :p

2) Has anybody here tried opening their PS3 and blowing out the dust with a compressed air can? I'm thinking this might help... no need to buy a piece of marble though right? :lol
 
I believe it's from the disc not balancing itself properly. I don't have a ps3 but.....

Joke or not my wii does as well. You can feel the wii shake when it does this as well as the vibration through the desk. It's ****ing annoying because you can hear the sound throughout the room.

Anyones else wii do this?

It's either the fan, or the disk drive causing the vibration. Shouldn't open it. If the vibration is so bad you might want to have it checked for free if possible (sony customer service). If it's minor and not much eject the disk and try it again or something. Mine made my ps2 scream with tapping noise. It was sending a vibration through the wooden surface to the PS2 and the disk mouth of the ps2 was hitting the housing to cause the noise. I think PS3 just hate having other consoles near by.

:( anyone else willing to check? i've noticed putting the discs in at off angles sometimes reduces the sound/vibration but still i rather hear my games than the micro earthquake the system is trying to create.
 
Mine doesn't vibrate, but my launch unit seems to be abnormally loud compared to the people who claim their PS3 systems are deathly silent. The fans always kick on around the 15 minute mark of the system being on and they are always on when watching an upscaled DVD. Its pretty loud, and annoying.

And wow @ the people who are 'annoyed' that their PS3 fan speeds up to keep it from dying.

If it annoy's you, go buy a 360 and enjoy some RROD, since you apparently don't like fan noises. Would you rather trade in that safe guard for an ass loud DVD drive?

Both my PS3 and Wii vibrate in that satisfying, powerful, 'things are happening as they are meant to' way (a very fast vibration, not a rattling or anything that sounds dodgy).

My 360 doesn't vibrate, but what it lacks there, it makes up for with a high pitched whistle and a vacuum cleaner synth.

The thing is that some PS3's (at least euro ones, don't know about the rest) are almost totally silent, while some have much louder fan noise. Mine is silent, for example, but my friends PS3 is quite loud when the fan kicks in.
 
The PS3 that I got a little over a week ago can emit a very high pitched, and constant whine ("eeeeeeeee"). I Googled it last night and found some posts on the PS forums where a few other people were having the same issue, so it's definitely not just me. Some figured it was a fan, some figured we were just unlucky enough to hear that high of a pitch, and some said it was "just the Cell running." :lol

I first noticed it a few days ago (playing DQ8 with the volume low). It seems to come and go and it's really annoying, although not annoying enough to send in the system for repairs or anything. Anyone here experience the same issue?

Okay? Different PS3's, different houses, different hardware results. The important thing is, the fan is moving and keeping the PS3 from dying. If there's anything annoying about a console functioning and preserving itself, then count me out of the 'I want to be cool group'. I'd absolutely love for my PS3 to be loud as all hell, instead of dead in the water.

Is the console horizontal or vertically placed. If it's horizontal placed it should lessen the vibration as it is more stable.

I am hearing that more and more. My PS3 fan kicks into high gear after about 15-20 minutes as well. I really believe it has to do with the update that made everything uscale to 720p. Before the update I never heard my PS3s fan. No matter what I have not noticed any vibrating.

Once when I was ripping an CD to my PS3 HDD it started vibrating rather violently. Its happened only twice and only when I rip CD's. Not all CD's actually (Ive ripped a lot of music to the PS3) but 2 of them caused that on my PS3...
 
I know the topic is a couple of weeks old, but I just came across these the other day: http://www.audiovisualonline.co.uk/...ty-foculpods-vibration-absorbers/display.html

I ordered a pack, along with the Ixos Sorbothane feet they advertise below it. They turned up in the mail there and I've just fitted the Foculpods to the bottom of my PS3. Other than the fan/drive noise you would expect, it's silent now - there's not a hint of vibration/resonance at all. :D I had been expecting to have to try both kinds and pick whichever was quietest, but as the Milty ones completely eliminate it, I've not opened the Ixos pack yet.

On the plus side, it raises the PS3 up a couple of cm off the self (it's very stable though) which should keep it running cooler as it'll let more air flow around the machine.

The feet were expensive, but it was driving me mad, and I'm glad to have finally found something that worked. Now I wish I had found them a year or two back when I bought a PVR. I had the 250gb model, but the drive they used caused it to resonate very loudly and I ended up dropping down to the 160gb model as it was almost silent. (I've been getting close to filling the drive recently)
 
slight vibration is nothing out of the normal, the things running

BUT!

i have experienced what has happened to some gamers. I was playing BM USA (i got it for just the IIDX con, i had been stuck on a 5 key since) and in the main menu the game started getting screwy, and the sound became all corrupted, then for inexplainable reasons it did start vibrating. I could hear it hit the desk. I turned it off turned it back on and it was running fine. I think the drive was just running on full on MAX trying to load something that wasnt there, with whatever bug was present in the game
