I keep re-listening to this and it cracks me up whenever it goes "...until we can figure out what's going on" in such a serious deep voice.

Again this is classic Trump. He makes his far right policy statements but then plays on the American Lefts inability to call Islmaic Terrorism - Islamic Terrorism - which he'll easily be able to push back and debate with, shifting away from the policy but also creating doubt around the people attack him - which then strengthens the policy.

He does it time and time again and there's no many people out for brownie points and looking to look good. He sucks people in and they still think he's an idiot - he's doing well because he's got a strong way of getting his message publicised whilst setting up a trap to easily defend his policy from.

At 0:17, is that explosion sound effect from Tiberian Sun or something

Yeah I think that second explosion sound effect is probably a free sound that anyone can use, it's also a sound effect that is used in Team Fortress 2 when a sentry gun explodes.

Please let's stop pretending that "political correctness" is any kind of real problem.

None of these people give two shits when a black kids get muttered. But they all shout to the heavens the moment someone points out that they are racist scumbags.

I didn't mention political correctness and I am talking about how he'll pass over his racist comments by taking a more populist line on certain issues.

I took it you were using the rights standard excuse
that the problem is never racism or bigotry it is the stupid left's attempts to censure their racism and bigotry.

Fuck Trump. The republicans are such a clusterfuck now that I would be ok with W coming back if it made them go away.

It has to be said, its an incredible advert for what the end goal is.
He doesn't even have to pay to air it outside the States its primed for, its already got total national coverage, saving him further millions of dollars.

No other candidate in on either side has that power.
And people still say he is stupid?

Well if the end game is the precidency then his proposals are incredibly stupid for general electorate appeal. If we're talking about harnessing fringe groups within the republican base (and winning the GOP nomination with said support) he's definitely not stupid. The man is a brilliant business man/celebrity too - no way to spin that.

There was a huge rally in Biloxi with so much overflow they let people into the convention center next door to watch a live stream. They had a guy on a PA asking people to not beat up any protestors.

This election is like the biggest Godwin bait America has ever produced

Trump rally?

I can't tell if this seems more like an attack ad against Trump or a parody that you'd see on the Daily Show

A real ad targeted to a specific audience that eats it up and then some. An effective ad.

I think people might be overlooking the lower-middle class midwest. They don't read. They don't even really spell. They all love Trump though.

Yah, we sure are bunch of hicks out here! I don't need no fancy edumahcation! Gun, god, and the American way is all we need!

Go fuck yourself.

Educated people, or people worth discussing things with, aren't saying Trump is stupid. Like its some schoolyard attack. Trump is smart like a fox, the people supporting him are gigantic morons. Not trump himself. Trumps doing his job, his job is to be president. He knows how to do it. And hes doing that exceedingly well, because we have a gigantic population of morons who don't really care about anything other than keeping america white.

I just watched the link in the OP. If it weren't for all the articles deconstructing the ad I'd swear it was a parody.

Doubling down Muslim ban?

A wall Mexico will pay for?

We gone fuck Isis in the ass and take their shit? (Dude its not their oil to begin with! Us fucking them up doesn't make it suddenly our oil!)
or does it?, responds trump

Well, if you expand that out a bit further, you know that the GOP don't want Donald Trump as their nominee for many reasons.
And he has been fighting an uphill battle since his announcement and he is number 1 and continues to be so.
All of the money poured and spent into/by the core candidates seems to be wasted.

So his mission is to get the GOP nom, that's step one. Not an easy climb especially with the resistance from the GOP.

Experts say that the polls don't tell the truth etc etc.. but EVERY single expert has been wrong so far.
(In fact there are only 2 people who have foreseen that Mr Trump could do and one of them is Scott Adams, and is using this heat on his blog to sell huuuuuuge amounts of books)

This ad has cost him very little (in comparison) and the heat that it is getting is both engineered and not surprising.

We haven't even seen him turn his sights onto Clinton yet, he will only unload on her after he gets the nom. For all the statements from her camp, I am sure she doesn't not want to go up against him.

That's because pundits and aggregate polling data are two different things. The latter tends to be extremely reliable in US politics.

Look at 2012 if you don't believe me. Everybody who tried to unskew the polls got embarrassed.

Agreed. I meant the words 'Bachman bubble' etc etc, experts have been trying to explain Donald Trump in some sort of historical context but they don't seem to or don't want to understand that they are living in an 'After Trump' time.

This isn't doing anything to abate one of my many theories on him, that is, he wanted to goof around a bit but people started taking him seriously, so now he clowns around more and more so that he may dip in the polls and find a way to bow out, but people keep gobbling his shit right up

Trump is a business man first and foremost. I think his desire to actually become president is damn near close to nil. He has used next to nothing to promote himself while other candidates are spending millions. His end game is some way of ensuring he will not be elected or even close to be elected and flipping his story into a payday.

He'll write a book or advise or whatever. The power he Wants he already has. The power a president has is high, but when you're a rich dude used to being a veritable goofball, maybe a being President isn't exactly the sort of 24-7 monitoring you want.

I think you are wrong, he wants to be president.
There's no way. He's alienated too many people and said too much stuff he can't step back from. If he's too proud to have his campaign bow out by a random donation from a super PAC then he'd get killed when confronted with the things he's said in presidential debates.

There's almost a zero chance he'll be elected President. He recognizes this. The only question is how he plans to monetize it. He's made it this far. He has options as far as his end game goes, but I do not believe President is a legit part of any of the endings he sees.

Running for president is among the most uncomfortable things you can do. Almost nobody runs unless they want to be president.

That's definitely an interesting viewpoint. I don't agree with your points that there is zero chance, I would say its considerably higher, in fact I would say its higher than the others trying to go on the GOP ticket, so definitely in double digits.
His biggest challenge is will he has access to the billion dollars needed to run a presidential campaign.
He will not spend his own money.

I think he believes he can win.

He may not have gotten into the race with that mentality, but I truly believe seven or so months top of the GOP polls has convinced him that he'll be able to take the nomination.

Just watched the spot. Before the spot went live, I originally thought the description in the OP was a guess at how horrible it could be. Nope, it's just a frame by frame account.

Jesus.

man, it is very surreal hearing "no muslims allowed into the country"

I can't believe this is policy in 2016.

PS- SO PSYCHED I SAID 2016 on the first go! Usually it takes me to June to remember what year it is.

"You know, a lot of my opponents say my plans have no substance, and that's fair. That's understandable. But the thing they're forgetting is I'm a world class businessman, a world class deal maker. Every problem in this world is a people problem. It's management. It doesn't take a genius to talk someone into looking out for their own best interests, but it doesn't hurt that I am a genius. Mexico is going to pay for that wall because the very first day that I am elected president of these United States, I will fly down to Mexico on Air Force One and make Mexico a deal it can't refuse. I promise you that after one luncheon, Mexico will beg to help us secure our borders. Mexico is going to see exactly how my bestselling book, The Art of the Deal, applies to immigration as much as it applies to business."

is that an actual quote? lmao

So he wants to jack ISIS for their oil?

Wat?

Basically disable ISIS from the oil, which Russia is doing right now and have hit ISIS hard in their finances. Trump's been trumpeting the #bomboil rhetoric since he started running.

I don't know where he plans to go with the "take the oil" with Putin and Assad and Iraq looking over his shoulder, the parties he plans to work with in the Syria crisis. Somebody should quiz him on it in interviews or debates.

That ad is creepy af, its crazy that something like that could be made with a straight face...

Cutting ISIS head and take the oil? Make a wall in the south and make Mexico pay for it? Smmfh.
