DISCLAIMER: this thread is not about Cyberpunk, if you want to discuss the provided example fine, but that's it.
During my years on the internet I have always had the feeling that many people in heated topics and communities are lying even to themselves and in most cases they are not even aware of it.
The clusterfuck of the Cyberpunk 2077 release gave us a perfect example of an internet mass delusion.
Few days ago a redditor discovered a CSV file in the game folder and thought that by changing it he could fix one alleged very dumb performance bottleneck of the game.
I have personally seen dozens if not hundreds people in different communities and websites confirming that changing that changing that CSV file dramatically improved their performance in the game.
Well CD Projekt has just released the latest patch where they say that it has no effect whatsoever in the game.
So it was placebo effect, but in this context the victims of placebo are the same people that you see posting about bugs, performance issues, technical details and so on... presenting their opinions as truth and willing to defend them until death.
So the lesson is: don't trust anyone on the internet, not even yourself.
