They are just concern trolling, it's always when the Series X comes out on top then they need a coping mechanism.

If anyone genuinely has a question about Series S then by all means message me, some people have and I'm honest with them.
You're repeatedly being banned for console warring and spreading disinformation.

Some of your posts in this thread proves that you haven't stopped. Sad to see.

But anyone back on topic and my final post in this thread.

Good game, glad to see a next-gen update. Next gen consoles have some good figures there and great to see them having raytracing support.

The pics, of its implementation, from the other thread look amazing be good to replay it. Although, have always preferred Doom 2016 :messenger_smiling:.

It's been predicted by people the XSS will struggle as generation goes on, it's kind of interesting that a last gen title cant be given raytracing, even limited.

the fact that you think that raytracing is any different in a last gen title compared to a current gen title shows your ignorance towards the subject. if anything it is harder to have RT in a last gen title than having it in a new game that fully supports every new rendering technique available. like SFS, mesh shaders and VRS.
the Series S will especially be boosted by SFS since that helps with the lack in RAM bandwidth and size, which is most likely the reason it doesn't have RT in Doom Eternal btw. So Doom Eternal, if it supported SFS would most likely have no issue running with RT on Series S... but it's a last gen title not made with that feature in mind, nor is the feature even fully available yet

people really need to stop talking out of their asses. it's getting ridiculous

Wait, what? This forum ripped apart the XSS for ruining next gen, now your saying that never happened? It was ridiculous, they are all in hiding now (or in denial), at least most of them since the Sony announcement since they don't want to agree anymore that any machine can hold back next gen at this point, since it points out the very double standard you are making reference to.
It's probably time to accept the real truth, and that's that modern day games are fairly scalable, and that these machines don't have the detrimental impact that was suggested. (whether it be XSS, PS4 or Xbox One, or PC low end)
My whole point was that a lot of people, specially the so called "journos", were in denial back then.

People are now finally coming to their senses, that's all. People who think that games are scalable are still in denial about how the SSD is a game changer for design alone, R&C Rift Apart was just one example.

Covid caused a big impact, but we'll start seeing things that are not possible on last gen machines sooner rather than later.

I would even dare to say that this may push some games to go exclusive, like the original Final Fantasy 7 on PSone.

Talking about spreading misinformation while claiming that Doom Eternal is a first party title :messenger_beaming: Also subtly calling the XSS a last gen console. At least you use some effort while trolling, should be enough to dodge a ban hammer :messenger_winking:

I think most had concerns for the reveal.

Digital XSX would have been ideal, for all, including developers.

PS5 Digital and Series S are made with completely opposite intent.

Series S is supposed to be widely available, easily discountable, making less loss as possible.

PS5 Digital is for using in marketing banners, and stopping people from picking series s. Is supposed to be available in limited quantities as makes huge loss for Sony per unit sold.

One is mass market console, other is marketing gimmick. So cannot be compared.

Care to show me where anyone has ever said this?

And why that is important to you?

How are saved states related to the XSS struggling with raytracing exactly?

Why do you want to move the goalposts in that direction? Because it's something the XSS can do? Ok.

Are you not going to refute anything I said before by the way? or can you not explain why, even first party titles, Doom Eternal are missing next gen features?

How are Series S owners getting the same next gen experience as the more expensive big brother?
I'm going to address this point again to show how silly your anti XSS arguments are. Ask anyone who actually owns an Xbox Series console what was the biggest innovation for the platform was: raytracing or quick resume. Anyone who is honest will say quick resume. Numerous articles spoke about how cool it was to be able to unplug the Xbox and not lose any progress on games that were saved.

You know what is part of the 'next gen' experience on Xbox? It ain't raytracing. And since you clearly didn't know, the XSS also has quick resume, just like the XSX. Proving yet again that the XSS is every bit the current gen device it was advertised to be whether or not is has raytracing on every game. People should stop hating and making up crap and just simply appreciate MS made a device for the masses that offers a damn good value for the price. Especially true after all those new Game pass announcements.

I will go off the board and select AutoHDR and FPS boost as bigger innovations than Quick Resume. I get what you are saying though.

*Sigh* you're totally wrong as per usual.

Raytracing is, at least for consoles, next gen technology. It's a feature prominent through all of MS and Sony's presentations, talking it up and dedicating a lot of time on within all the tech material they have put out.

They have rightly or wrongly made a very big deal about it.

It's something that wasn't possible on last gen consoles. You say this often enough yourself.

And it's not possible on some XSS titles as well. Despite the dedicated hardware. The list of titles that don't support it is growing with no signs of stopping. And we are still only talking about patched, cross gen titles.

This situation is unlike the other next gen consoles.

As for quick resume. I still don't know why you keep bringing it up. No one asked for it, it's certainly good.. but doesn't make the game anymore immersive or attractive to look at.

Unlike raytracing. Would rather raytracing in my games rather than loading a saved state personally.

I think the tech is more of a next gen experience.

They should have used "similar experience" instead of "same experience" IMO.

Metro Exodus Enhanced has all the bells and whistles as XSX and PS5, albeit at a lower resolution. But it even features Raytracing and 60fps

FIFA 21 also features all the next gen experience on Series S

These are just some examples, but the list is too long.

Xbox on my end

I only get a small 4GB update, no next gen patch

are you sure it's out? have you started it and looked?

for clarification, if a native next gen update goes live it will be called Upgrade not Update. and it will download the game in its entirety again

I hope they add mouse and keyboard support for Xbox. I'd love to play this again, but I can't take the punishment that comes with using a controller.
How does the ray tracing look??

Downloading 5gb update! I don't think my body is ready for 120hz =)

yeah that's not a next gen patch... next gen patches aren't 5GB updates, they are named Upgrades and will be the full game download.

FALSE ALARM GUYS this dude over here doesn't know how an Xbox works

You're right, I saw an article on Newsweek today and jumped the shotgun when it prompted the update. it's out the 29th.

People are going out of their way to show that the XSS isn't part of this generation. Going so far as to compare it to the Switch and PS4. It's a sight to behold. Making statements about how ID is first party now they should have given the XSS special treatment in the past. Absolute nonsense.

They must not realize it has the same CPU technology as the XSX and runs more games at higher framerates than last generations best consoles. They don't know it has a RDNA 2 GPU and the same SSD. If they just looked it up they'd know but obviously they prefer to wallow in silliness. I'll never know why they try and hold it to a higher standard than consoles that cost even more but it's clear they have some sort of agenda. No one is that ignorant.

I really wish they did this treatment on Doom 2016, fuck Doom Eternal a perfect example of how to fuck up a sequel with too much micromanaging of bullshit pings for different abilities. Also jumping puzzles in an FPS!? That's been outlawed since HL 2.

Why is there no 1080p60 RT mode for Series S?
Get an X if u want to play superior console version of the game.

Get an S if your budget minded, just don't expect the bells whistles. Im impressed its running 120fps (tbh).

Games running on the $399 PS5 and matching (some more and some less) the $499 XSX must make you appreciate and defend the PS5 just as strongly eh ;)?

(Seriously though… my point still stands: 512 GB digital only XSX at $349-399 > XSS and would have kept the baseline higher)

This post is so disingenuous I don't know where to begin. The 399 ps5 is same as 499 ps5 except without a blu ray drive. Please try and not be so obvious with your fanboyism.

 It is in the same tone I was responding to and focused to on the specific argument made over and over (a bit tongue in cheek, but next time will add more sarcasm tags too).

I know what both of these devices offer and at which price point (I do not own the PS5 DE btw :p). Btw the bolded bit above is basically the point for gamers (if you think at how PS5 DE, XSS, and PS5 are positioned), thanks for spelling it out 😉.

I mean, technically he's not wrong saying Doom Eternal is a first party title since MS owns them. Retroactively at least.

Wonder how big its gonna be. 120fps mode for me baybayyyy

Are you saying the X1X wasn't the most powerful console when it was announced? Phil saying that it was is ignorant? What was more powerful then? PS4 Pro?

Nothing about any "heat" level is too hard, they made weak points more like required targets and it sucks trying to hit them with a controller.

the game has high input latency on console due to a shitty vsync implementation sadly... so if your screen/TV isn't absolutely on the lowest end of the latency spectrum you'll have trouble I guess.
(the 120hz mode should help with that a lot tho)

and every shooter has weak points, it's usually called doing "headshots". just because Doom Eternal gives different enemies multiple different kinds of weak points that's somehow bad?

and no, you don't have to hit those you know... they help with certaint strategies but are definitely not a must to hit
