I think you are assuming things about my questioning of your proposition. I am merely commenting that in pro games I dont see sheepstick on DS.
If we're talking solely about pro-games then why mention QoP at all?

She's a rare and situational pick in the best case and completely ignored in the worst.

Sheep stick on DS is fine, and one of his better luxuries as with pretty much any INT hero. And botolf is right in that his farming abilities make it very easy for him to get sheepstick, compared to other INT heroes.
Just because they may get a bkb is no reason to not pull them up with sheepstick.

Who are some good heroes to buy sheepstick on? everyone? I wanna prove a point to some guys i play with
If you want to have some fun trolling people build sheepstick on DK.

6.75 second stun np.

good player will break the sheep and continue to rape :p

not if the good player doesn't see me comin'.

see: story. qop blink in and instant sheep = no time to react.

good player? = now waiting for respawn.

seems like a hell of an initiator from any hero with a blink (either by skill, or blink dagger). worked for my team. :D

Just watched the yesterdays final last game, gg.
Don't know if already posted but Vilat said during the ceremony when Navi got their check and "we are the champions" was playing in the background that this music might be playing aswell at the beginning of september in seattle (International 2 from late august to beginning of september)

Next time, alt-f4 out, start the game again, disconnect from the game and instantly requeue.

seriously?!?

wait

how long am I in this low priority queue .. is it permanent ;_;

gaf

did they send me up river

:(

Did you DC from a game early?

EDIT: It's not permanent, but if people keep dc'ing the time you're in the low priority queue stacks.

Don't worry. In a few months you can instantly get out of low priority...

...for a fee. :)

;__________:

just took me 30 minutes to get in a game!!

I'll never leave again, VALVe! I'll make sure my dog shits ALL OVER the carpets >:(

edit: wait... are these games filled with people in low priority?

ages back when i was lurking an older thread i saw someone post the console commands to show your fps and whatnot but make them heaps small and hide them in the border of the ui, anyone have that handy still? i'd really appreciate it if someone could repost.

These are from my autoexec cfg at "Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\dota\cfg":
Code:
net_graph 1
net_graphheight "64"
net_graphinsetbottom "437"
net_graphinsetleft "0"
net_graphinsetright "-83"
net_graphpos "1"
net_graphproportionalfont "0"
net_graphtext "1"

This work perfectly on 1920x1080 with the netgraph on the top right.

I think, so yeah. But don't worry it's not permanent. I mostly sleep over the LP-queue and the next day it's gone.

Then they are horribly out of position to allow a QoP to blink in, sheep em, and not expect any sort of retaliation from the other 4 heroes. (whom I assume has at least one stun to lock the QoP in place) Sheep is a great item to get to counter a 1-4 strategy, or to give your team a 3.5 second window before their main source of damage can retaliate. With an 800 cast range, it can be used as a main source of initiation, as it outranges most of the more popular disables, including shackle, stormbolt, etc.

Where sheep really shines though from what I've experienced is after a BKB pop/bait, where the enemy void/am/whatbeit is sheeped, because he will be more then likely ahead of the rest of his team, and that's when you can pick him off.

TL;DR: Don't expect a team to let you blink->sheep their carry unpunished, and sheep is very efficient when used to counter-initiate.

Just had a game where I almost had 3 DRs on BH. Good times.

Unfortunately I died, but while I was having my fun destroying the enemy team, my team and I also took two sets of barracks and the creeps won the game for us :P

Have you not been watching the pro scene? QoP is a regular pick these days.

I have a question guys. The beta is just for Windows right? So because I did the survey with my Mac that's probably why I never got an invite correct?

I wouldn't say "regular". She's being used more than she used to, sure, but she's far from being a tourney staple.

Absolute Legends vs DK starting up soon: http://www.joindota.com/en/livestreams/683-gigabyte-dota-masters

Stream just finished AL versus MiTH.Trust, one of the commentators was definitely not impartial, heh.

Fair enough, my misread. As pro games go, it can vary so wildly after he gets the needed tank items, as at this point he's sitting pretty good in respect to self-sufficiency. If the team needs a pipe, he's a great choice. If the team later needs a Sheepstick, he's a great choice. Anything that serves the team need and also his own (being quite vulnerable and also quite mana-hungry) constitutes fantastic items on him. He pulls in the gold so quickly that he should really be (and tends to be) built as flexibly as any farm-intensive hero in the game.

Are there any definitive boots to get on jungle DS? I see advantages on phase, treads, arcane and even tranquil. I suppose they're all situational if you're ganking, tanking, supporting, or working to BoT.

Definitely a no-no. That's the kind of thing that will probably slant a broadcast and hurt the quality of the overall commentary. Pleading with a team to rax, while amusing, is something that should be coming from the corner of a novelty co-caster. When Absolute Legends' team manager is giving more impartial commentary than you are, that's a problem.

I'm curious....with the heroes being divided between Dire and Radiant, is there/has there ever been a game mode in which Dire side can only pick Dire heroes and Radiant/Radiant heroes? I've never quite understood why the heroes were separated by Dire/Radiant if they can be played on either side...

Normal mode. It was horribly imbalanced.

wtf stats on AM?

It's impressive to see how methodical they're playing this. AM puts 4 points into stats, 1 point into his skills and then maxes Blink, Int treads for all his blinks between camps, and pops out periodically to scoop up assist XP and the occasional Ult steal. His health isn't sitting in a perilous zone and he's just hoovering up as much gold as he possibly can.

I'm also tired of the entire 'China is going to change Dota 2!' schtick. I'll see it when it happens. This one game by DK doesn't prove a thing.

Except that they're stomping. Chinese Dota players take the game much more serious then EU and US, and that's why they're going to change it. Input and output bro.

Played against other players for the first time yesterday with a friend.

We have tons of hours clocked in LoL and I have a tiny smidge of experience with DOTA, but the transition has been hard.

Anyways we had no idea what the hell we were doing. We both have a solid grasp of the basic concepts of the genre. We had no idea what items to buy so I was just buying things on the recommened list. No idea what he was following.

I was playing Storm Spirit and he was playing as some two headed hydra. I don't know if there is actual skill level match making implemented but he and I were doing really well. It seemed like most players weren't very good, and those that were (at least comparably to us and the other players) always played Axe or Bloodseeker (I think that's his name).

That 9 second uber DoT (rupture?) was a rude awakening between the differences of DOTA and LoL (2 second DoTs max ha).

I love watching syndereN streams ever since the merger with WW. He keeps streaming his scrims and you can hear the whole TeamSpeak.

Makes me wonder if it's like this for every team though : so much bickering. If you had a bad game or made a bad move, jebus, stop arguing about it and just play better as a whole next game.

I hate that he streams during my work hours. Does he have any VODs?

Yes, the Void was somewhat out of position. Sort of. It was clear that his intention was to teleport into our base, ult and gg us. He was just picking his moment and his team would follow him in. They were gathered at the top tower and he was maybe 800 units south of them (maybe half way between the top tower and the middle tower). Not too far, but not too close either. I had just finished my sheep, so he probably didn't know I had it. I simply beat him to the teleportation+disable punch.

While I agree that most teams will respond, my specific case with an analysis with regard to a carry that has taken *all* the kills, leaving his/her teammates somewhat item/xp deficient. Everyone on our team had better items and xp than that one guys teammates explicitly because he was taking all the kills. The burst we were able to put on mr. uber carry in those 4 seconds was something they simply weren't prepared to deal with. I sheeped him, teammates blink, ran and flew in (Storm Spirit), BKB's popped, and we ultimately finished them off.

I've learned quite well that the last phase in maturation in understanding of Dota is learning exactly what the enemy wants to do and stopping them before they can do it. My plan, approach, and execution were a reflection of those lessons. He was just waiting for the perfect moment and was the man who needed focusing at all costs. I had to strike before that moment materialized for him...and I did. And we won.

So it is. My original point--or its intent--was clear and very specific: if some guy (say, an Ursa, AM, Void) has been fed 20 kills while his teammates have very few, the reality is that his teammates will often times be item-deficient, and thus rather easy to dispose of if the main guy can be disabled and focused down. While this is certainly not always a reasonable or easy task, if you know how the enemy team wants to engage and you can be bold enough to beat them to the punch when they least expect it, you can turn an unwinnable situation into a victory. It can require more timing and communication than the average pub game allows, but it can be done. My point was to be no more or less than that. With the right understanding of the other team, timing, coordination and a bit of boldness, you can shut the uber-carry right the fuck down.
unless he has an aegis, in which case, you're probably fucked

Should watch a Mouz scrim stream, lol. They just make fun of each other and don't take anything seriously.

Besides Manta, are there any other "go to" items for Viper?

I personally like any and everything that enhances the DPS of glass cannons.

For me, that usually means a MKB and a hyperstone (leading into a curiass), depending) when I'm playing Viper.

His fragility can force a BKB purchase earlier than expected. Just depends on how things are going and how many disablers they have. If I can just go pure "shit on them" build, I'm going Treads + Shadowblade/BKB + Manta + MKB + Curiass (+ Hyperstone if there is still time). I substitute the Butterfly for Curiass if they're not focusing me (or if I'm just unstoppable). If I buy a Shadow early, I'm selling it later for a BKB later anyway.

Either Vanguard or Hood before manta in most games, Viper needs to be tanky.
interesting approach. I've never really thought of that approach, since his HP pool is pretty much going to be low. I think I'd rather have platemail-->Curiass on him than a hood, but it depends.

Cuirass doesn't give anything valuable to Viper unless you get it as 4-5th item since you could get more dps with agility items and the armor is going to be pretty much wasted since you have so low hps. It's really better to go hood (maybe pipe later)- vit booster-manta-heart. Also butterfly between manta and heart if the other team has a lot of dps.

Also if you play him/her as a dps monster you're gonna get outcarried hard by a lot of heroes, that's why in progames he's mostly used as a utility hero.
