Why does no one ever play AA? He is the best. I always wait to let someone else pick him but I've never played with him or against him.
The best piece of advice about Dota 2 I think I've read yet is "try every hero at least once". Even if you have a few crap bot matches it's worth it just to know what each hero is capable of and you might find out you like characters you otherwise would not have tried.
Random newbie tangent.
What a hilarious clusterfuck of a victory. My last five Dota games have been like if a car full of circus clowns crashed.
Fairly happy with my DP performance, built enough DPS and stalled long enough for our lategame to come online in force. Dat stop-gap.
My guess would be due to him doing very little damage directly and having no reliable stun. Used to be pretty common though, surprised he has fallen out of favor so much.
Anther one I am suprised I don't seem more often is Tinker. Its been well over a month the last time I saw one.
1 nuke from DP and Drow is almost dead so it's alright. But Drow should win in the end.
Man ya boy was giving me heart palpitations last night on that Medusa.Fairly happy with my DP performance, built enough DPS and stalled long enough for our lategame to come online in force. Dat stop-gap.
I would second this advice (at least as bot MM goes), fastest way to familiarize yourself with the hero pool from scratch.

The GD show is on, the Own3d tv fiasco is probably gonna be discussed.
wow i'm never playing timbersaw again. if your base gets pushed wtf are you supposed to do? your most important ability is completely useless without trees.
Speaking of Luna, I remember a few weeks back on a Fails of the Week episode there was a Luna with a 0 damage ult. They showed her skill build (maxed Moon Glaive and Lunar Blessing obviously) and said "This is a HoN player." I was curious and looked up Moon Queen in HoN and sure enough:
The damage of Moon Beam is 75 / 150 / 225 / 300, same as Dota, but still it's just crazy that you get the effect of a level four Moon Beam on level 1 of your ult regardless of the level of Moon Beam. I guess the fact that Multi-Strike (the Moon Glaive equivalent) is toggleable makes it a viable build to level that and Lunar Glow, rushing whatever the HotD equivalent is and farming jungle ASAP. Toggleable Moon Glaive would be nice, but I think it would be ridiculous in Dota, and I kind of like how it's really picking and choosing between pushing the lane to get those extra bounces early, or getting more farm and not having the bounces. The latter is usually the better choice.
50 Luna games later, I find out her ultra is tied to her Q skill.
Tho, damn, MOBA players can be assholes sometimes. So I ultra the guy and do 0 damage. You don't need to pause the fucking game just to laugh out loud after killing me and then proceeding to tell me I'm stupid. Urgh, of all the possible ways to teach me I'm doing something wrong, people choose whatever is the most assholish.

This is apparently a big thing now. I remember it happening months ago during high level play where people would use it to gloat, use it to get the shop open to buy whatever item they needed just after they unpaused, or some other random thing. Now, it's catching on as the alt account bring it to lower games.
It was maybe 20 games before I learned this too. I didn't know until I decided to try a troll build (maxed passives and MoM for pushing power) and hit the ult. I was like, "huh...wai nobody die? lol" then our party talked about it and we all realized together that they're tied together. It was never an issue before because I had never *not* maxed Lucent Beam first.50 Luna games later, I find out her ultra is tied to her Q skill.

Hey DOTA gaf - I'm back in! Got DOTA running at work. Can play bots during downtime and check out heroes and get better and LH/Denying!!
I have a really silly question...
How do I use my items with the keyboard? KP_9 means nothing to me!
KP9 probably means keypad nine. You can change the bindings for all of the inventory in the settings though to anything you like better, including extra mouse buttons. Click the gear in the top left corner and it should be self-explanatory from there.
I've never, ever seen someone pause to call someone out.
I've seen people pause to beg for their lives just before they end. I've seen people pause to troll just before an ancient is destroyed. But never have I seen a pause after a bad ult or something.
Never seen any of this nonsensical behaviour. Seen someone afk pause as someone is about to die. And jokes being tossed around as we wait.I've never seen it after someone using a bad ult, but I've seen it right before/after someone is going to die and the person who's about to kill taunt them. New method, but not a new attitude for the MOBA community at large.
Alt accounts need to die in fire. This is apparently a big thing now. Hey Guys, so I was watching Defense 3 Next vs. HWA and I got an item for witnessing a multi kill. The item is Tournament Pangolin Shoulder Armor (for BH). I got some people trying to trade with me but I don't know how much the armor is worth. Any idea? It's this bad boy here: http://steamcommunity.com/id/luiztfc/inventory/#570_2_261687074
starting to random now, and selecting all the game modes when I queue. So far its been very fun to learn new heroesForgot how fun playing puck was!
First time I played Puck I was absolutly terrible. Then a few months later I played with a really good Puck and watching how he chained Orb-Rift-Coil-Jaunt as a brutal initiation tactic and used Orb liberally to chase down fleeing heroes or just deal damage in fights taught me so much. I've done so much better with it since than, I hadn't realized just how really powerful Rift is.
Atos is a good item period! More people need to pick it up.
in what situations would you recommend it over similarly priced luxury items? I think it's purchase is so low because of the cost. Feels like so many other items are more plainly useful when you hit those stages of the game. but idk.

The only factors considered in determining the change in your rating is match outcome and skill difference between players. Other factors such as player KDA are not considered.
Boo hoo. Cry me a river. At least you didn't get a chest. All I ve gotten is chests. I am so sick of all these fucking chests in my fuckingValve needs to put in an exception where the people feeding on your team should NEVER get a mythical item
Terrible match btw, we had zero teamfight. Mirana ult, Cent ult, and Silencer ult and they must be one of the top initiating teams out there. Constantly got swamped, then DP and WR pushed towers like no business.
The results of the DotaBuff Rating poll are out: https://dotabuff.com/polls/dotabuff-rating
Honestly surprised at the the disparity between the private vs. public vote.
Here's the DotaBuff introduction to their new DBR rating: https://dotabuff.com/pages/dbr.
I'm happy to see them mention this -
I voted public. Stats were meant to be seen.![]()
