Why does no one ever play AA? He is the best. I always wait to let someone else pick him but I've never played with him or against him.

My guess would be due to him doing very little damage directly and having no reliable stun. Used to be pretty common though, surprised he has fallen out of favor so much.

Anther one I am suprised I don't seem more often is Tinker. Its been well over a month the last time I saw one.

The best piece of advice about Dota 2 I think I've read yet is "try every hero at least once". Even if you have a few crap bot matches it's worth it just to know what each hero is capable of and you might find out you like characters you otherwise would not have tried.

Random newbie tangent.

Absolutely. I have been going down the alphabet and trying every hero out in bot matches for at least a month now. It takes a long time, but it's perfect for me because I am often in a position where I'm expecting a call/dinner will be ready within the next ~20 minutes, so I can't play a real match anyway. I left off at Templar Assassin, so I'm getting close. The rewards are already paying off since I'm only level 2 and yet I have experience with over 2/3 of the hero roster.

What a hilarious clusterfuck of a victory. My last five Dota games have been like if a car full of circus clowns crashed.

My favorite part was the first Roshan takedown. Everyone died expect Medusa. It was like that scene in the end of Enemy of the State. Someone should make a video of our pyrrhic victory.

Fairly happy with my DP performance, built enough DPS and stalled long enough for our lategame to come online in force. Dat stop-gap.

I'd be happy with that performance too. ;) I can't believe how much you guys ended up out-farming them, considering that I fed the shit out of Axe and Windrunner in the beginning.

Is it just me or does TA feel like a very twitchy hero? I can't play her to the same efficacy that others play her b/c I feel as though I have to react significantly faster than everyone else.

wow i'm never playing timbersaw again. if your base gets pushed wtf are you supposed to do? your most important ability is completely useless without trees.

Well with the meta shift to being less push-centric, Tinker doesn't really fit in as well. The other thing about him is that it's very predictable what he does, so if you do pick him, you're kind of showing your hand. Same as if you picked up Broodmother.

1 nuke from DP and Drow is almost dead so it's alright. But Drow should win in the end.

Drow shouldn't win in the end, DP should crush Drow middle, it wouldn't even be close.

Even though Drow can out cs DP on paper with her damage, DP's nuke is far too large of an advantage to ignore. It will get her cs while at the same time, if used properly, applying a large amount of damage/pressure to Drow and controlling the location of the lane, giving you free shots at the runes. You just have to make sure you position yourself such that you don't get silenced in a place where you can get orb walked and die. Once you get your boots you should have no problem staying in the right places, but Drow is probably going to get them first only because you have to buy bottle. Just be extra careful if she has boots and you don't, but besides that it should be a clean win for DP.

I would second this advice (at least as bot MM goes), fastest way to familiarize yourself with the hero pool from scratch.
Man ya boy was giving me heart palpitations last night on that Medusa.

I watched part of the replay. He was farming with level one split arrows and had 51cs on her in 20 minutes. I had to go to bed after that.

Speaking of Luna, I remember a few weeks back on a Fails of the Week episode there was a Luna with a 0 damage ult. They showed her skill build (maxed Moon Glaive and Lunar Blessing obviously) and said "This is a HoN player." I was curious and looked up Moon Queen in HoN and sure enough:

The damage of Moon Beam is 75 / 150 / 225 / 300, same as Dota, but still it's just crazy that you get the effect of a level four Moon Beam on level 1 of your ult regardless of the level of Moon Beam. I guess the fact that Multi-Strike (the Moon Glaive equivalent) is toggleable makes it a viable build to level that and Lunar Glow, rushing whatever the HotD equivalent is and farming jungle ASAP. Toggleable Moon Glaive would be nice, but I think it would be ridiculous in Dota, and I kind of like how it's really picking and choosing between pushing the lane to get those extra bounces early, or getting more farm and not having the bounces. The latter is usually the better choice.

I'm extremely angry every time I see a hon player play lone druid.

As I understand it, wildsoul in hon is played by ignoring ult and leveling his rabid instead of passive up first. This is like the exact opposite of how you play sylla in dota 2. I've been so pissed at hon players that die to bh or some other ganker because they don't get true form and sit in it while farming.

50 Luna games later, I find out her ultra is tied to her Q skill.
Tho, damn, MOBA players can be assholes sometimes. So I ultra the guy and do 0 damage. You don't need to pause the fucking game just to laugh out loud after killing me and then proceeding to tell me I'm stupid. Urgh, of all the possible ways to teach me I'm doing something wrong, people choose whatever is the most assholish.

This is apparently a big thing now. I remember it happening months ago during high level play where people would use it to gloat, use it to get the shop open to buy whatever item they needed just after they unpaused, or some other random thing. Now, it's catching on as the alt account bring it to lower games.

Hey DOTA gaf - I'm back in! Got DOTA running at work. Can play bots during downtime and check out heroes and get better and LH/Denying!!

I have a really silly question...

How do I use my items with the keyboard? KP_9 means nothing to me!

I see this sometimes too. Hella annoying.

I guess that is why we can report them.

It was maybe 20 games before I learned this too. I didn't know until I decided to try a troll build (maxed passives and MoM for pushing power) and hit the ult. I was like, "huh...wai nobody die? lol" then our party talked about it and we all realized together that they're tied together. It was never an issue before because I had never *not* maxed Lucent Beam first.

I've never, ever seen someone pause to call someone out.

I've seen people pause to beg for their lives just before they end. I've seen people pause to troll just before an ancient is destroyed. But never have I seen a pause after a bad ult or something.

KP9 probably means keypad nine. You can change the bindings for all of the inventory in the settings though to anything you like better, including extra mouse buttons. Click the gear in the top left corner and it should be self-explanatory from there.

Awesome, thanks a ton! I thought it meant "keyboard press" and I was using the number line on top and getting mad lol.

I really enjoy Rubick so far.

I've never seen it after someone using a bad ult, but I've seen it right before/after someone is going to die and the person who's about to kill taunt them. New method, but not a new attitude for the MOBA community at large.

Never seen any of this nonsensical behaviour. Seen someone afk pause as someone is about to die. And jokes being tossed around as we wait.

Alt accounts need to die in fire.

Hey Guys, so I was watching Defense 3 Next vs. HWA and I got an item for witnessing a multi kill. The item is Tournament Pangolin Shoulder Armor (for BH). I got some people trying to trade with me but I don't know how much the armor is worth. Any idea? It's this bad boy here: http://steamcommunity.com/id/luiztfc/inventory/#570_2_261687074

Its worth as much as someone will pay for it. It is truly a one of a kind item. But I don't recall them commanding that high of a price. What kind of offers did you get?

starting to random now, and selecting all the game modes when I queue. So far its been very fun to learn new heroes :D Forgot how fun playing puck was!

Valve needs to put in an exception where the people feeding on your team should NEVER get a mythical item :(

Terrible match btw, we had zero teamfight. Mirana ult, Cent ult, and Silencer ult and they must be one of the top initiating teams out there. Constantly got swamped, then DP and WR pushed towers like no business.

First time I played Puck I was absolutly terrible. Then a few months later I played with a really good Puck and watching how he chained Orb-Rift-Coil-Jaunt as a brutal initiation tactic and used Orb liberally to chase down fleeing heroes or just deal damage in fights taught me so much. I've done so much better with it since than, I hadn't realized just how really powerful Rift is.

Damm, yeah I think I need to watch some pro puck plays then. It was only at the 40th minute where I was actually figuring out some combos to use with him. But nothing like you described.

Atos is a good item period! More people need to pick it up.

in what situations would you recommend it over similarly priced luxury items? I think it's purchase is so low because of the cost. Feels like so many other items are more plainly useful when you hit those stages of the game. but idk.

Any recommendations for heroes that can snowball out of control without the help of supports? I've given up on trying to depend on the supports in normal bracket and decided to claw my way to high with heroes that can dictate the flow of the game by starting in mid.

7 games with TA and managed to carry my team through all of them. Looking for someone different now.

The buildup on that item is really good honestly, a vit booster first and staves as you can afford them. The active is sick, basically a long range disable with a short cd. I find it more useful then force staff in alot of situations, and being only ~600 gold more expensive but also offering 300 hp to your support hero. Also solid pickup on Sil and OD

I think its more of an "on who" than a when, its really good on int carries that need to tank up (Necrolyte, Silencer, OD, Visage, Death Prophet, Nature's Prophet) or on other types of characters that need mana and health but lack disables. (Clinkz, Razor, Doom, Undying, Zeus)

I just had a really fun "least played" game on my alt account against eternalenvy, s4 and luminous. I had no idea what everyone were doing during the most part of the game and I wasted so much time in the start running around after heroes that was roaming in our woods. There was a total of 40 kills 17mins into the game. s4 played pretty good as a roaming gyro, but it didn't work out all that well in the end. He did dive our base at level 5, trying to kill our chicken. Our WD went for an agha rush and took our first aegis :p

The game was really even the first 25min, but after that, our lead just got bigger.

Before doom bought 6 MoM, I think he had BoT, shadow blade, agha and maybe something else.

I finished a game, but it still says there is a game in progress. There's an error if I reconnect. Will this count against me? It was a win :(

Doesn't even appear in my match history.

The results of the DotaBuff Rating poll are out: https://dotabuff.com/polls/dotabuff-rating

Honestly surprised at the the disparity between the private vs. public vote.

Here's the DotaBuff introduction to their new DBR rating: https://dotabuff.com/pages/dbr.

I'm happy to see them mention this -
The only factors considered in determining the change in your rating is match outcome and skill difference between players. Other factors such as player KDA are not considered.

Boo hoo. Cry me a river. At least you didn't get a chest. All I ve gotten is chests. I am so sick of all these fucking chests in my fucking plane steam inventory.

Still learning and playing bots. LOVING Pugna. What is the group consensus about him? Any good?

I can see trying to hit with his nuke that doesn't track being a big skill for him, but I totally loved using him.

Nether Ward and His Ulti seem fucking awesome. I really enjoyed playing him.

I voted public. Stats were meant to be seen. :D

Nothing good can come from this. Oh sure, I will enjoy seeing how I stack up with all of you, but this will just give people even more fuel to complain. Oh well, someone was bound to do it I guess.

So, lets start guessing our rankings. I'm thinking Platinum at ~1675.

Oh god I hope people don't start bringing up something like ELO hell.
