See, if that was a pub game I was playing in we'd be forced to wait through twenty minutes to half an hour of them systematically destroying our racks, occasionally going to Rosh for the lols and generally screwing about

In most pubs if you just say "gg, push" and stop defending usually the opponents will not screw around. Usually.

Didn't they get rolled for the first half of the international?

not like that, no.

+1 for a surrender system.

my time is important to me. I don't want it wasted unnecessarily if a game is clearly out of reach.

Rarely does this happen.

I've seen teams have to sit in a fountain for 5-10 extra minutes because a team wants to take every tower and rax when they can simply finish the last 2 mid towers and end the game...wants to go rosh...wants to farm that Divine.

Then there's the "spiking the football" that is fountain camping. Shit is lame.

You're wasting it regardless just playing dota.

False equivalency justifications and relativism are not your strongest suits. Please don't insult my intelligence or yours.

on the opposite side of that coin ive played games were we "GG push pls" and yet the team will continue to fight on,glyphing and just wasting time

I can only imagine how annoying pub games would be with a surrender mechanic.

"First blood"

Oh shit, our mid fed pudge. That's a GG. 4/5 surrender waiting on you.

edit: IMO the lack of a mechanic like that actually forces your team to try harder as there is nothing else to do.

There will be a timer on it, like 20 mins or something, and some other conditions. At least that's the way it should be. A giant gold/xp difference and a minimum of 20 minutes or so. Then you should be able too.

I can see this making the lower tier matchmaking more hellish then it already is, unfortunately.

Every game with a surrender makes you wait 15-20 min to use it. There is no way someone, let alone four people could immediately surrender at First Blood

Even still... they'd be waiting for that 15 minute toggle to surrender and attempt to encourage everyone else to give up as well.

The way it is right now you have to try to win no matter what. And sometimes you CAN actually make a comeback. I've been in a lot of games 30+ minutes in where it seems futile but we actually come together as a team, smarten up and push back. That would not happen if we could easily surrender out and try again.

That's not really my experience in Dota 2.

Someone will leave, and everyone else will wait five minutes and also leave.

-1 for Concede option

I've won a handful of games after losing 1-2 rax. With a lot of people who bitched and moaned how it was GG on my team.

Or you have the lead, team throws the game, and you still come back to win the game just by the skin of your teeth.

81 minute games are a sight to behold and something everyone needs to experience.

You still have those. It's just a matter of finding 9 other people who are willing to play the full game.

Having no concede option doesn't keep people playing, it just causes people who would have conceded to abandon instead - forcing you to play a 4v5

The highlights feature is cool, but that low-res dota icon is terrible, hopefully it is placeholder.

And I watched the highlights of my last match where I had the most amount of kills, and it only highlighted me once. Meanwhile it kept showing some boring stuff a lone druid on my team was doing while he had the least amount of kills.

:\

But it doesn't have to be as dumb as "30 second FB ,5/5 people surrender gg".

The client tracks a HUGE number of stats every game. From gold/xp graphs to hero net worth, how many towers are still up on each side, how many times Rosh was killed and by who, rax status and so on. They could make that when certain conditions are met (how big of a disadvantage you have in all these categories) an option to concede will appear.

Can't count how many times we had to wait an extra 10-15 mins of nothing but fountain camping/diving until their creeps finally were able to take down the ancient and stop wasting our time.

Had the best start with Luna, 8-0 and forced Radiant's Riki off bottom lane with 2 ganks, our Dazzle doing a great job protecting Drow (no deaths)...then it's straight downhill from there.

Played my first Faceless Void game last night. D:

Was worried at first but the other team was typical pub shit and went for a 5-carry strat.

Rapiers are fun. :D

I don't want a concede option but if Valve did hypothetically add it, it shouldn't be available until there is a set of rax down. Maybe two, because it's still very possible to come back and win even when you've just got set one left...though there are many shitty players who would vote to conced after first blood if they could.

I don't even know how a team with a Luna that starts 8/0 loses in the end. It's not like she can get outfarmed. Other lane fail?

I'm impressed your team could survive that lineup for 52 minutes. Then again, I assume your team pushed towers down pretty fast and made farming hell for them.

They lost a lot of teamfights without me but yeah, we pushed lanes very fast and Broodmother was split-pushing for the remainder of the game, keeping them busy. I could have ended it earlier for sure. I got the rapier and wanted to finish it, but they wanted me to get another one...I just went for the Mjollnir instead and we throned.

Early game it was rough though, I felt pressured for a while with farm but by the time my battlefury was ready, all their tier 1s were down and I could farm safely.

Void is a lot of fun, I don't play carry a lot with my friends but damn. Backtrack + Poor Man's Shield helped a lot laning against Drow and Spirit Breaker. I'm gonna try him again tonight, hopefully against a more functional team composition.

Man, just got smashed early game as sidelane shadowfiend, was against a premade (vs/prophet/lina gank = gg). They left our undying to farm on his own though, and after a few successful team fights he had a 22 min radi. I like seeing heroes being played in unconventional roles.

I came back a little once I got my shadowblade, the 30 attack speed is really noticeable, and I even snagged a few kills with sf's new passive. I always thought of sf as a character that needs momentum and early kills, and just completely falls behind if he dies, but he actually can do well if left alone for 5-10 minutes.

Man, I'm still hyped from reading all the Halloween stuff from Cyborgmatt. I missed Mouz/GD today, did they win? I think they did. Saw navi getting whooped by skane/pulse though, damn.

Yeah, GD b team somehow managed to beat Empire. Not to say that the games weren't convincing, just not what I expected at all. Black is pretty good at Pudge.

God, I love when Na'vi picks Puck.

Concede button would ruin it in my opinion. I've had sooo many instances of coming back after our team was calling gg. Ruins any chances of comebacks which are some of the best moments in Dota.

Exactly, there are sometimes games where I think "I would concede now if I had the option," but I wouldn't trade those comeback games for the ability to concede any day of the week.

What the hell...

Looked up the dota2 page in steam, then notice : ''you already own this game'', while I never entered a key or something, and it wasn't in my library either.

Anyway, downloading, hope it's as fun as I think!
