You won't push the lane if you use them right. Just use them to hit the hero behind the creepwave.

It just makes it harder for yourself if you're not used to playing TA. The spill damage is huge. You should always start with refraction regardless.
 
If your team sucks, it won't matter who you pick.

Sometimes you can solo carry in my experience, but that only applies in some pubs and it depends on the character. Most of the time, yes, if your team sucks it doesn't matter how well you play or which hero you play - you're still fucked.

That means you have to put yourself in an odd position. You're only going to get caught out of position if your highest priority is the creep in the back.

Yeah, you have to move behind the melee creepwave to stand between them and the range creep to harass. Nice way to set yourself up for ganks. I usually put 1 level in at level 4, sometimes even later.

Godamnit, I just fed a CK like four kills in ten minutes as Silencer because the Nyx I was laning with used all of his mana in the first few minutes and then for fifteen minutes did not pop any clarities or go back to base to refresh, sitting completly useless every time they tried to gank me and just soaking up EXP. Admittedly after the first few times I should have just bailed and left him alone, but whyyy?
 
I rarely even click them. I just mouse over the area and detonate. I haven't run into problems doing that, but I rarely have more than 1 trap nearby in a given location. That said, yep just click and detonate.

You should get out of that habit. If you use TA to detonate rather than using the trap to detonate itself, TA plays a little animation which wastes precious chasing time.

I don't play TA, but I had no idea that this existed. Sounds like something that should be removed at some point (the animation I mean). There's not really any good reason to punish someone for clicking the hot key made available on their hero to activate their traps. :|
 
Its an extra layer of intricacy, which I think should be kept tbf. However, do realize that the tradeoff is that you have to select to your trap, make sure its the right one, explode it, then hotkey back to your hero. Although miniscule, its about as min-max as the animation, seeing as how the cast can be animation cancelled halfway through anyways.

And besides, the hero's slowed by 50% for 5 seconds. That's plenty time to catch up.

Bit of the reason why I avoid tf2outpost. Reddit is for obvious reasons.

I never select traps with TA, I usually put a few around the usual places (runes, rosh, jungle spots) but when I chase people they never walk past those most of the time and I just put 1 in front of them and press the hotkey to make the last trap I placed explode, I never have to select them manually and don't waste any time.

Wasting time is actually what you're doing by using TA's casting time. Also sometimes you can make the wrong trap explode.

Selecting it with the mouse is faster then pressing 1 button? I don't even have time to select it because it's already exploded. Never made the wrong trap explode this way myself.

No, you see, TA stops so she can blow up a trap, if you right click someone, click the trap, explode it, then you don't stop.

Ah ok so you can skip the animation. Doesn't really matter though, the slow is long enough that even the animation doesn't matter much. But I'll start skipping the animation now.
 
Never made the wrong trap explode this way myself.
Than you either don't use enough traps as wards or you don't use enough traps to follow people. There is absolutely no way you never follow anyone that's going up a ramp near rosh/rune.
Also this way you can make them explode when you're dead or out of range to help your teammates.

I already made them explode like that while dead, and when they walk past old ward traps. I'm not saying the hotkey is the ONLY way I do it. And I have plenty of traps.

Played a great game as wisp (which, despite my avatar, doesn't happen as often as you'd think) laning with PA. The spirits harass (and occasional killsteals) + PA's dagger/blink meant sooo much death. And then we hit 6 and did it all over the map.

There was one bit where there had been a team fight in mid, and two of the enemy heroes were limping back to base. I teled in with my spirits and got a nice juicy double kill.

Wisp is fun.

This is pretty big. They made some amazing TF2 sets. We might actually see some diversity in characters getting cosmetics now. A lot of users have their planning threads up too, can't wait to see what they come up with.

Also they are not allowed to make cosmetic items for Axe/Omni/Prophet etc. So it will all be other heroes that don't have much yet.

I really want to see items for anti-mage, tinker, jak, puck, nightstalker and kunkka (armor, not really weapons).

edit: Oh they have restrictions. Wierd that they don't have kunkka on list. Out of all I listed only am is listed. Seems like they wanted a lot of humanoid heroes that don't already have a ton of items.
