I always build him as a carry. Go for crit stick after blink. If you can get ac and daedalus, you will be unstoppable. Sadly silencer rapes magnuses gameplan.

Yeah, Decay is so good. I usually max that first. I will typically skip Soul Rip until team fights begin, especially because people are usually too aggressive against Undying and a level 2 or 3 Tombstone will fuck them so hard.

New alchemist is fine. People are playing him wrong. He's way better as an active ganker. If you get a radiance by 15, you might as well end the game and farm less. It's like when I see a Magnus build a battlefury on the justification on making him cleave more. Smh

How...else would one play him?

He really isn't. He has Goblin's Greed to compensate for the fact that he needs more gold than most heroes to become useful. Yeah you can roam with your shitty stun but that's even worse than roaming Sven.

The big thing about Alchemist is that he can now get his full inventory like 15 mins earlier than any other Carry can. Why waste time (and usually money) ganking?

I played Alchemist as a support/ganker before any of his buffs [cue hipster barista]. Max out your stun, grab a level of goblin's greed early, max acid spray afterwards to farm in the jungle during midgame. Stack jungle camps inbetween roaming.

Tranquils or Phase -> Soul Ring -> Lots of smokes for early game. Your cast range for your stun is riiiiiiight about the same as the range you lose your invis for smoke. Charge up your stun while you're hidden.

Because Alch can flash farm really well with acid spray and goblin's greed, and you have an endless supply of mana with your ultimate and soul ring, I like going Mek on him. Solves his nasty armor problem and gives you team support. You don't really do a lot of auto-attack damage but you're disgustingly tanky with your ultimate, which is great when you're playing as support. Run in first and tank everything. In a way, you play like a Vengeful Spirit, except you tank things instead of swapping people out, and your stun is a hundred times better. Also, medallion scales with your stun since your stun does physical damage.

Get whatever you want after that. Something like blademail or radiance isn't a bad choice, and Alchemist can actually farm it quickly after his support items even with a slow roaming start.

Why waste time (and usually money) ganking?

Because his stun is absurdly powerful and works beautifully with smoke, and he can flash farm the jungle easily for support items.

Honestly though, as long as you don't play Alchemist as the MAIN carry, he's really good. Play him as a side carry like Lone Druid or CK.

Some matches of support alch:

Not just that, but his gold gain is entirely based on the rate at which he farms not how much he farms. Early game in normal lane conditions the difference between his farm and other farmers is maybe 50 extra gold per minute.

The only thing freefarming an alchemist does is make the midgame much easier. Whether support or main farmer, his farming momentum doesn't really go crazy until 10-15 minutes in.

it's a tired topic but man sometimes I feel like mm has no consistency.

A game where lich didn't buy any regen items, and just said remake after first blood, then he disconnected, and then a game where one guy refused to lane against chaos knight so he shared mid with nightstalker (as rikimaru), needless to say my solo bane isn't good enough to fight jakiro/chaos knight.

I feel as if until there is visible rating, people won't give pub games 100%.

Update out and... Nothing.

Now for digging.

It looks like the Halloween version of the map will be called 'Diretide'. There may be some sound files for it included, I'll have to see later.

It looks like they may be rigging up the chase animations a bunch of heroes have been getting.

A bit more on the Essences and eggs. You do seem to use the Essences on the eggs, and the eggs seem to keep track of two values, 'URYBEssenceLevel' and 'OPGBEssenceLevel'. The Essences will expire on November 11th, so they are going to be a limited promotion.

Sounds for Tiny and Weaver have had minor updates. Tiny now has sounds for his scepter tree.

Nightstalker and Razor seem to be getting prepped for items now.

Slark has Portrait information now. Beastmaster, Batrider, and KotL have updated portraits.

The next free item ID for some reason is now 227 instead of 216. Maybe holiday themed variations of the items? Or just some odd quark between test and live.

New Ambient Sounds for the Diretide map:

While most likely no one cares, a lot of the PNG files have been replaced by dds files.

There is a model for a barrier in the tutorial, but it is missing a file so I can't open it.

There is a new team logo called "Radiant Fall", most likely for the holiday map:

Pumpkins!

Wax seal thing that is likely for teams:

My Prediction: Halloween version of the map rolled out in 1 to 2 weeks, with Slark and Madusa being the "scary themed" heroes to go with it.

Wow, I expected Centaur. I am actually surprised. It may be 2013 before Open game at this rate.

"medusa_medus_rival_10" "medusa: Snakes on a plane!"

Is this Gyrocopter?

"medusa_medus_ally_09" "medusa: Ah, Venomancer. We both traded beauty for power."

I thought this was interesting. In Venomancer's bio, it says he was formerly a human and then was turned into the Venomancer in the Jidi Isles.

Source on this?

Edit: CyborgMatt just posted this, saying there will be no blog post tonight.

So the leaked fix for the Centaur last week was... a troll

I'm clapping Gaben, I'm clapping

It was real. They probably working on the 5 next heroes and have them in game already bug fixing but using placeholder models/textures. They just missed it when removing all the bugfixes that aren't relevant to public version.

I think I heard the same thing during the 4 week hiatus of international.

:P

Dudes, is there a guide for creep stacking and/or jungling?

I need to step my game up because I'm in this weird grey area where I get matched solo into pubs where I dominate consistently, yet when I queue with high(er) tier Gaffers, my play is below average.

For stacking creeps attack one at 53-54 second mark and run away till they stop following you. That's stacking. Once you get more than one stack pull at 52 mark and continue till you get 3 stacks. For ancients stack as much as you want since you need those badly.

53-51; 51-49; then -2 per 2 stacks, up to 8 stacks iirc unless dragons, as they don't have collision you can spawn infinite black dragons.

So they're doing this MLG Prizefight thing between Quantic and EG, does anyone know how to watch it ingame? I don't see it under the tournaments or the Watch tab as a public game, but I'm pretty sure they're casting it in DotaTV.

It depends on the enemy team and your team but generally speaking:

Solo mid - TA
Solo suicide - DS
Jungle - Enigma and Chen
Ok, in what way does it depend on the enemy team? Like I heard that batrider is a counter to TA, does that mean TA will always get shut down by batrider no matter what?
