But I thought one of the WR set references the old Alleria Windrunner model.

And on DT, KotL is amazing! Illuminate wins teamfight. Mana leak destroys QoP, Storm Spirit and almost all "stealers". And Recall makes your stealer's life easier. But,he's quite useless on the Final beat Roshan Phase(but not Witch doctor tier useless) so I just go Manta Style, Diffusal Blade, Daedalus, Dagon and DPS while Spirit form+Illuminate is charging.

Knew it. Get someone to mentor you? Thank goodness Diretide is ending..never played that dumb mode and all it did for me was make queuing take longer.

It's nice to get items, but it's even better to be able to pick a mode and get into team fights with heroes you've never played before.

I'd probably never play Axe, Riki, or Anti-Mage in a normal game but I've had some fun with them in Diretide.

DireTide is soo fun. Best strat has GOT to be going 5 man at the enemy candy box from the very start, you can steal upwards of 20-30 candies if you can bully the enemy off.

Also if... if anyone has some blue essences they can spare to an old milkman..

Its the worst feeling to have it happen to your team though, since it can often completely demoralize a team despite the fact that its really not that hard to come back from. Really, the best solution is often just to 5 man them back, and try to kill them as they attempt to return the candy.

God I fucking hate refraction. You just wail on her forever and she shrugs all of it off and then melds and then uses it again and then runs away while you all try and get even a single point of damage on her

Just went 3 vs 5, with Tinker, Pudge and Centaur (me) vs 5 and we dominated the whole game. Especially once I got BkB it was game over.

Feels good man.

why are you posting youre in a match right fucking now
tomat found a way to not play games while actually playing games??

I alt tab all the time since I die a lot.

I keep losing Diretide today. I'm upset.

Yeah the worst part is that this exact scenario made it onto one of the plays of the week. I was really disappointed that they put it in there. It was like, "oh wow, the person can hit two buttons and wait for cooldown to do it again, what a pro play."

How many essences would an empty egg be worth?

Looking to get rid of this. Also can't find a halloween chest for the life of me.

Anyone who needs essences just find me in the Steam group (Bacon of Hope).

I've got normal essences falling out of all my pockets here. Can easily fill up 3 eggs with all these things. For free of course just let me know what you need

So we were partied up, and NiX had low priority for a few hours, so we decided to stomp the trench together for a while, and boy do we have some stories from that!

In this game (NiX left it on All Pick, and forgot to change it to Random Draft), I picked up the Pudge, and went mid. Storm Spirit was against me there, but I got a very early first blood on him and he says in chat "fucking noob". This keeps going, and I kill him again, and he says "FUCK YOU PUDGE AND YOUR LUCKY ASS HOOKS" as he is 0/3 and I am 3/0. Then he is 0/6 and I am 6/0 and he says "GET BETTER BITCH YOU DISRESPECT THE GAME" and proceeds to ragequit. The other lanes are a similar story, and we manage to shut them out in kills 21-0. After Storm Spirit ragequits and the 5 minutes passes, the others on his team follow, and their ancient self-destructs, all within 19 minutes.

This one was Random Draft, and also a similar story, but took much shorter. Storm Spirit was already getting cocky in chat, so Boogie begins to say "You know, I met a Storm Spirit like you last game, you know what happened to him?" Of course, the same thing does happen to this one, just without the hilarious all chat shenanigans.

This game was actually a learning experience for me. I had only played Visage once in Diretide before, so I didn't really count that. This was pretty much my first time playing Visage in a real game. We had it because NiX didn't pick in time in Random Draft and it gave him Visage, so we picked a hero for him, and I swapped him and ended up playing the Visage. I went mid against Outworld Destroyer. I didn't get First Blood, but someone on our team did. I still did a damn good job of keeping that OD out of lane, and also got a kill on him after I hit 6 thanks to the familiars and the Stone Form keeping him in place. Microing the familiars is tough but extremely useful. There were times I could completely reverse ganks just by flying them in there and slamming them on the ground for the stuns. I also had great saves on my teammates when they needed to get out. Sand King thinks he can just Sandstorm and hide from me? I don't think so, BAM! I ended up dying because I ran into my problem I usually do with micro: Sometimes I forget about the most important thing, the hero. I was concentrating on setting up stuff with the familiars that I left myself hanging out to dry and died. I still went 17/1 and it was right at the end of the game though, so it was not a big deal at all. I said at the end of the game that it was my first time playing Visage and the other team was saying "bs", Ursa (a random) was impressed though, saying how difficult it is to play him.

We were truly at the bottom of the barrel for this one. Dragon Knight was constantly out of position, leaving him open for me to come gank him, while my team was there too, and he was dead every time. Windrunner was mid against me, but keeping her out of lane was easy. Ursa jungled and didn't get a Vlads, instead going for the S&Y, which was mindboggling to me. What was even more mindboggling was when I was going bottom for a gank one time, I found him at half-health in the jungle, so I attacked him of course, and he has barely any health now, where two attacks will kill him. So he inadvertently is juking me, and I lose him at one point. This was fairly close to the T2 tower, so I think he's definitely gone now, and at this point one more attack will kill him. I begin to return to my lane, heading to Rune Bot in the river, and who's right there at the first ramp toward the river from Radiant Jungle? NO HEALTH URSA! Now he's dead. I have no idea why he ran back that direction when he could and should have gotten away.

So to watch Dota 2 tournaments you need to buy tickets in-game? Or is that just to watch them in-game? Do they typically have a free Twitch stream?

I kinda want to watch the atoD 2 tournament.

Streams are free to watch. But if you want to watch them using the client, you have to pay the asking price. It's possible the asking price may in fact be $0, but don't get your hopes up.

I wonder what Valve's cut is for this tournament. IIRC they normally take 75% (same as cosmetics) which I find incredibly disappointing.

Most people who make cosmetics still make 10's of thousands and some even make millions, so it's fine. At least that's how it goes for TF2 items.

Wait.... there are other modes besides Diretide?

I've never heard of a cosmetic maker earning 'millions'. Some top earners supposedly bring in six figures.

I can understand the 75/25 split on cosmetics, since that is the lion's share of Valve's revenue, but I feel that tournaments and pennants should at least be 50/50, if not 75/25 in the organizer/team's favor.

I disagree. I think Valve is being generous by giving 25%, to be honest. They could take 100% and leave the organizers to promote themselves and take a cut from their Twitch TV donations, or wathever.
