Dota 2 Beta Thread 3: Gunnar Optiks Required [Faster Loading]

Well thats it. Diretide is over.

My goal of trying every available hero is complete. Lots of insight and how to item build was had!

Have lots of essences left over if anyone wants to trade in the next 10 mins or so...

It's essentially denying candy in the side lanes to the other team (and its fucking hilarious to release them all at once near the end of the game)

I've done this several times in non diretide mode, but never thought to try it on diretide. DAMN

Laughing my ass off at this one. I told her she should message him back and accept his challenge and I'll ring in her place. She's very disturbed that he set up a lose/lose situation for her.
 
Got a Fireborn Odachi from my final Diretide match. I'm done with this mode. Can't take any more. Only one unusual essence on my orange egg... hopefully something good comes out of it.
 
I just started trying to get into DOTA 2 having only played a couple games of it and LoL in the past. It's amazing how much of a difference finding a Hero you like makes. I played a few games and had a miserable time until I found Venomancer and Lina.

I also remapped the keys so that my abilities are on 1-4 and WASD moves the map around.

I've only been playing versus easy bots so far. I'm still a bit confused about when I should be going to other lanes to help and when I should stay put.

I would suggest tab q e r for abilities.
 
God I love Asian teams playing. The level of play they have, like just now a few heroes from the dire died near their T1, they all buy back instantly and INSTA tp back there to defend, just the coordination they have is great.
 
I'd suggest learning to use the mouse to move the camera.

With the amount of hotkeys required in dota, up to 6 active abilities per hero and then up to 6 (or 12 if you have some really stupid lone druid build) active items, a courier, possibly shop hotkeys, quickbuy hotkeys, and then there are heroes with multiple units, in many situations it's more difficult and/or slower to use keyboard panning unless you have a helluva lot of mouse hotkeys.
 
IG suffering from Na'Vi-levels of self-neglect or something? DK are routing them.

... What the hell were DK doing in that fight, lol. A Tidehunter who's blown Ravage already probably isn't a great target to focus inside the Chronosphere.

Okay, so game 2 turned out to be pretty great. Not being able to sleep still fucking sucks.

Yeah I noticed he is very good in my shit tier because most people don't even know the hero, it's usually too late when they realise that you are too tanky and their health has been slowly going down.
 
If Necro gets one hero kill in a fight, his regen is so crazy that he can become nearly unkillable. If he's also taken down creeps with his AE during a teamfight, he can stay alive forever with his new Sadism skill. He's awesome.
 
Necro is cool... I guess, I only played him once. On a side note, thanks to diretide I have found out Zeus is super fun. To bad I never have enough for a refresher orb. Easily 2 ult drow.
 
Necro is easily one of my favorite heroes. He is very versatile in his roles, as he can tank, support, or dish out damage. After you pop your spells in a team fight, it's kind of funny to just watch the enemy team drop dead as you just stand there.
 
Which one of you was the random gaffer we ran into last night? Me, pillow, milk and spookie queued as 4 and got a gaffer as our 5th. Pretty hilarious
 
Really? I don't think of Necro as versatile at all. He always needs farm and has shit for disables. The only times I think he really excels is when he is put as the safe lane farmer, and you'd only do that for pretty specific comps. I'm pretty sure they picked him just because they knew dark seer was offlaning, and necro beats darkseer solo letting them do smoke ganks like they did.
 
Speaking about Necro, I never played him but I read about his skills, is his ulti basically AM's ulti but with the word "health points" instead of "Mana" ?

He does need the farm, but then he can do what he wants. I played him on mid few times, which worked out. And even offlane once because pub pickers don't figure out lanes when they pick. And with a bunch of nice items he's amazing.

So I built a blue greevil. There's no possible way for me to incorporate the other essences to get the "wing" and "horn" property for a blue greevil?
 
Man, Diretide is just pure gambling, only instead of money you put ~25 minutes of your free time in the slot...

For me, I don't give a shit about the items. I just play it now when I want a "quickie" or feel like experimenting with heroes I never play in a no-consequence way. Experimental late-game builds in 10 minutes. :D
