The small update got me a win after a 5v5 turned into a 4v4 when two players disconnected around the same time. They couldn't reconnect because the patch had been released while we were playing.

Screenshot tells us close to nothing about the losing team. If your 4 teammates are all garbo then there isnt much 5th player can do to look good.

But, you were centaur. So, as long as you hit r as often as you could I'm sure you were doing fine.

Screenshot tells us close to nothing about the losing team. If your 4 teammates are all garbo then there isnt much 5th player can do to look good.

But, you were centaur. So, as long as you hit r as often as you could I'm sure you were doing fine.

It was single draft too, if that makes a difference. No one on the team was talking, I had to buy both the courier and the upgrade, and no one said gg after the match. It was a weird affair.

My Greevil looks pretty cool, but he has a purple back when I wanted an all orange one. ALL ORANGE I SAY.

The essences are still in my backpack. I wonder if they will become useful one day...

You can't tell much from the screen, but it looks like you simply got outcarried. Sniper has next to no items, and enemy team has drow, OD and PA.

Maybe you should have tried to end the game earlier, when witch doctor was owning faces left and right, and PA / Drow have no farm.

There are definitely some weird bugs going on right now. I was just in a game where the enemy team was dropped on numerous occasions, in pairs or threes or even four at once.

Then a few minutes later a player on my team who had never left the game received an abandon.

What the hell did they do? Is this the effect of Greevils chewing on the cables or something?

This whole thing makes me sad, this is exactly why I dislike Valve's item shop model. An awesome looking courier that is both ridiculously expensive by now, and unobtainable by ways other than trade since the event is over. I don't like content that's effectively locked out from me from my point of view. That's exactly what ruined TF2 for me.

Not that I don't appreciate how brilliant it is as a way of milking money from players, it's genius.

Yeah, I like cosmetic items in games, I buy them in moderate quantities, and it bugs me that I'd have to dish out £50 worth of keys to get a courier. I hate the randomness of the drops, hate the chests and the keys idea and most of all I hate the fact that an unenjoyable (for me) monetization strategy is killing a little bit of fun for me in a game I love and will keep playing regardless. Sue me.

Why spend 50 pounds worth of keys when you can just buy the courier for like 11 pounds in the shop? Seems like your own fault..

But seriously, you are not being "locked out" of any content. The courier may be ridiculously expensive NOW, but for the past two weeks it was obtainable if you put forth some effort (or got lucky). You didn't have to spend a dime on anything. Valve gave you an egg for free, gave you essences for free, gave you a mode where you got two items every 30 minutes for free. If you've been playing for a while you probably have a stockpile of items that are trade fodder anyways. Of course they won't make it available after the event, that's the point of an event, it's something limited that you experience. That's like complaining that the Super Bowl should be on every day so no one misses it. Keep in mind all this is purely aesthetic, no one has an advantage in gameplay (actually they would probably have a disadvantage since a giant, glowing, flying purple courier is a bit more noticeable than a grey donkey, so enemy teams could see it easier). Also in a years time, people will probably totally forget about these things because Valve will come up with something bigger and crazier next year.

Anyways, just a little rant against randomness of the drops and the limited time availability stuff, both of which are quite pivotal points of Valve's in-game stores.
