I don't usually play broodmother, but after the model change I decided to try her out. I am really liking her style. Could someone explain how the spiderlings work? I injected a creep and killed him, causing the spiderlings to pop out. However I noticed that they started to multiply. This isn't mentioned in the skill description. Do new spiderlings pop out if the spiderlings kill a creep?

Yeah, the spiderlings create spiderites, which are like weaker spiderlings. I think they spawn as long as your spiders are attacking the target when it dies, you don't need the kill credit. The tooltip is on the spiderlings.

Brood can be fun, but she can also fail pretty hard. I don't like playing her in ap because you have people rush picking rubick/sk/es/qop who can all just instantly destroy your spiders.

For the sake of, you know, documenting this shit. I bought it:

The Defense has been pretty solid so far. Hundred matches and a courier sound ok to me for that price.

Ok...So...When are the training/solo features going to be added?
I start Dota 2 up every few months, hoping that those parts have been added, and then shut it off.

I can't just jump into a match. i got bitched at in the Noob matches in LoL.

If i choose an "easy" bot match in the search will people be more forgiving?

Just make sure you inform everyone that you are new, and most of the jerks will chill out.

Yes. Easy bot matches are now the default for new players.

Played my first ever bot games.

Lost the first two, won the third.
I wasn't the worst on my team any of the times, not the best. But it was fun.
Items are still a mystery. Anyone have a link to a good explanation of generally what items i should be getting?

I don't have the link on me, but Purge (youtube is purgegamers I think) did an indepth look at all the items a while back. Not completely up to date, as some items have changed recently, but it will give you a very solid look at most of the items. you'll have to search his youtube channel

I just had the most amazing game. There's no way we should have won this: https://dotabuff.com/matches/70824102

They destroyed us the whole game, they took down a rax and our throne towers... and we held them off till there was one hit left on the throne (we had Luna shackled/sheeped as he was about to take the last hit)... and then we some how won.

I've never seen a team blow such a sure fire win before, and I've never felt so undeserving of a win in my life. We all played like complete shit Lol.

I take it you've never played with gaf before, then.

I just got Beastmaster/Shadowfiend and Shadow Demon in single draft.... I cant play any of these well..

Its not going well

EDIT:
and we won?!??

I fed like crazy and we just pushed mid like nobody's business... and won?!!??

Someone just force crashed the game for everyone right before we won.

Everyone in my stack crashed.

Now my records says we lost.

It also says on the other team's record that they won.

I have had the beta sitting in my game library for a while and this is one of the main reasons I have not started. From what I have read on here and other sites it seems like very few people are patient with new players.

Reminds me of a MMO but I guess you could say the same for any style of online game.

It can be tough. But as long as you're clear up front that you're new and trying to learn, you're less likely to get totally shat on by the community.

I had a game recently where I wound up alongside a three-man premade, and matching up against Invoker as Night Stalker in mid (along with poor item choices) rendered me useless. I missed an MIA call, and then it felt like I couldn't do anything right. If I was waiting for people to come out from under a tower, I was waiting too long. If I dove too far in on my own, I was being stupid. Eventually, it reached full on "what's wrong with you you retard" level, and then I moved from being quiet and/or sarcastically dismissive to trying to explain why I was so confused, which came down to me being relatively inexperienced.

Once they understood that, they didn't become master teachers, but they did give me a few tips and stopped flaming me every time I screwed up. And we won because the guy playing Clinkz got incredibly farmed and pushed all the towers down.

The moral of the story is, as long as you're honest about your skill level and own up to your mistakes, you can sometimes turn what might have been a miserable game into something positive.

Are you sure they made it crash, and it wasn't something like the server died?

Well the community has its short-tempered idiots and trolls like all online multiplayer games, but there are also many who are will to help out and work as a team. You just need to ignore the occasional loudmouth who thinks he's the best Dota player in the world. And if you can get a group of friends to play with you and help you along the way, it also makes the game so much more easier and fun.

Urghh...why is it the loudmouth always sucks?? It's like double whammy of a bad game.

And I got that same idiot 3 TIMES in my team!! wtf mm!!!

I remember reading recently about a way to crash the Dota servers on the dev forums that was instantly locked so pubs wouldn't reproduce it en masse... I have no idea if it has been fixed yet and can't remember what the method was, but there was definitely one out there.

surprised you havent exploited it yet

Replays are played back locally (?), so that sounds more like an engine crash rather than an engineered one (at least to me, I'm not an engineer!).

Right, one of the most frustrating things in the game is finding out that a player is relatively new after they've made several large mistakes. There are certain basic things that I'll just kind of count on more experienced players to know and do automatically, and if I don't know a player is new I won't know to give them advice.

So I just got a Strange Modifier: Multi Hero Chronosphere. How much is worh?
Also I just played this match:

https://dotabuff.com/matches/70887772

Interesting match, an okay team, got to farm and stack camps as Luna, maybe I should have been more active in mid game going for ganks but I think I did okay.

I'd probably keep any strange modifiers that you dont wanna use until the void chest rotates out.

Anti-mage scumming it up in the Dota 1 WCG comp, lol.

- Sells his BKB and buys a new one. Anyone else hearing the popped collars all the way from China?

- Buys up Battlefury, Manta Style, Butterfly, BKB, Heart, Boots of Travel, and then replaced the Battlefury with an Abyssal Blade.

- ...And still loses. I love happy endings.
