I think there is some valid criticisms of the skill. I would say it's much worse than Nyx's for two primary reasons: 1) It's channeled and 2) it deals no damage.

While it is great for offsetting Lion's horrendous mana costs, I do think that it's value in a game decreases the later the match progresses. Someone on your team will be picking up mana boots (barring the extreme case of drafting a mana independent team) so you can often expect a quick burst during combat just as much as your opponents can expect your drain to be offset by their own boots. Most mana dependent heroes will likewise have soul rings, magic wands or even black king bars that can interfere with your ability to deny them mana. And the later the game goes the greater heroes' mana pools become not to mention their increased mana regeneration.

And in team fights, damage is more important than mana drain. Sure, having no mana will stop heroes from casting spells which can reduce their impact but dead heroes can't cast either.

It looks like it could excel in the laning phase, however, which isn't to be underestimated as most Dota games are won during that time (in my experience at least).

Did you mean Pugna here? If so, Lion has a considerably better ult than Pugna in the form of his Finger. Extreme burst damage is much better and since he can drain from creeps he can usually run around fully topped off. He might get drained by a particularly long teamfight but as long as he wins he can top off on the next creepwave.

I've never had mana trouble on Lion except at the earlier stages where the cooldown on Mana Drain is a bit longer.

Mana boots a pathetic amount of mana for a Lion and it has a cooldown 11 times longer than Mana Drain.
The actual mana regen isn't the most important aspect, the boost to mana pool is a big deal, plus being able to give your team mana.

Best support lion build: 4/4/1 then stats. You get mana drain at lv 3 or 4.

Solo mid you can just go nuts, but I doubt the value of skilling 4 in mana drain to win the lane and messing up your teamfight and ganking ability through the early game. It seems like a really greedy pub build, is it really that useful if your opponent opts to gank at level 6~7 and what youve got is a lv 4 stun and lv 2 mana drain? That skill build is just massively weak when compared to having two levels in hex; the hex gives you awesome flexibility in that you can cc multiple targets even when they're not lined.

Getting any more than one point in mana drain is only viable if you're completely outclassing your lane, but you can't kill them because of armour or a huge health pool. Otherwise, disablus + damage is better.

max mana drain is really good mid, esp against heroes like storm spirit, qop, or other mana dependent solo mids

My post says that too :p, well more like implied, yeah totally you will win against most popular mids with this build(If you don't get ganked into the dirt).

Edited for correctness.

When I play support sidelane lion I usually put 1 or 2 points in mana drain at 2 and 4 respectively. Its really useful against heroes like brew, atleast for laning phase. It also allows me to harass more often with my spike since I drain the caster creeps or the other person when they're stunned. Just like 90% of the heroes in the game, it really depends on the situation and lane setup how I skill my heroes.

That being said I feel lions best position is mid, getting an early blink dagger, wreckin faces.

So I'm trying out Templar Assassin for the first time. Can anyone give me a good build/strategy for her?

gg gg gg tango -> bottle -> phase boots -> blink -> deso/yasha/crit -> manta/daed (bkb optional)

psi if vs melee, refraction vs ranged -> refr/psi -> ref -> meld -> ref -> trap -> ref -> max meld, ulti, etc.

win mid, get used to the psi blade splash, kill stuff @ 7

Am I late to the Lion party?

I would only choose him if I'm up against heavy mobility heroes that need serious lockdown and need to be killed ASAP, like Queen of Pain or Storm Spirit. If I'm looking for meatier pushes and can sacrifice damage but need the disables, I'll go with Shadow Shaman instead. If want heavier burst damage and can skimp on the disables a bit, I'll pick up Lina. Of course there are other fantastic supports in the pool too, and they all have their own useful niche (although supports like Keeper, Jakiro, or Shadow Demon are useful in more situations). It all depends on enemy picks.

This is what 1.09's graphics look like in WoW. I'm pretty sure Dota 2 looks worse than Dota 1 on his computer.

How he's able to play TA proficiently with dem graphix is beyond me.

THE PERFECT PLANETSIDE 2 RIG. is what you're secretly saying to yourself as you complete it.

I know I got like 40 more fps after I upgraded to a 3570k a few weeks back. Sick rig though, now you can play Dota 2 at 500fps.

What is this Planetside 2 that you speak of that you nerds are always playing.

Damn, that's sweet. How long did it take you to wrap all that shit?

I have the same exact graphics card, bought it after my GTX 470 melted and was paranoid about heat. It don't like it though, I think it impaired my streaming ability.
I bought it recently, but before I built this rig, and kind of regret doing so. It was $270 at the time and I wasn't actually in need of a new graphics card. I just fell for the review hype. Had I waited I could've gotten a GTX 6xx card during Black Friday for a slight premium.

Oh well, live and learn.

First time doing it will take quite a while since you'll be paranoid as shit thinking you're gonna break everything (unless you're a 90 year old lady, you're not) every time after that it's much easier, like putting on legos.

Man reddit is in a shitstorm over sven and drow.

Drow's not even in cm yet (I'd still rather play against her than centaur) and sven is at a 40% win rate in tournament games.

In other news it looks like dotahut got a facelift and more guides are being put up.

Picking Leshrac crashes the game. So, pick him if you really hate your team lineup.

That's the milkman spirit.

Don't even get me started on their Drow bullshit.

New Purple Silencer is better then old Purple Silencer, but both are worse then Red Silencer.

Also, I liked Blue Wisp more, but I don't really care that he is now Aqua colored. I guess he doesn't look like a oversized Quas now.

I do think the New Death Prophet though.

I think Drow's Global aura should be an active ability like Lycan's Howl, while keeping a passive damage buff for her self.
