Played Slark for the first time. Did okaaaay for losing (still positive K+A/D). Had a PA on the other team that got mega fed though. If it weren't for her it may have swung in our favor.

How are you supposed to lane him anyway?

And I guess the wording on the Drow nerf makes it ambiguous at the moment. We'll have to see how severe it really is.
 
Global haste was the main problem with the skill. I dont think this will change much with cent

The main strength, not necessarily the problem. Cent has been very substantially nerfed since his rework was announced. Will really have to see off paper first.

Pretty much. The Living Armour rework was a huge nerf

? Was a buff. His ulti not doing damage anymore was the biggest nerf. Not like anybody picked him before that anyway.

I'm not convinced there's still any reason to get Enigma over Magnus.

Deny enemy lanes by making creeps into Eidolons, forest goddamn fast, summons for pushing, and black hole is 4 seconds at all levels and is continuous so it also means area denial or people falling in.

Oh, a small tip, if any of you have found some Drow/Dragon Knight/Blood Seeker chests, sell them. They are actually fetching about a buck each.

Gotdamn. Just got a Drow chest today that would otherwise be rotting. (I like Drow, but I already have regular versions of a ton of the stuff in that chest.)

And huh, just read and apparently the new chests (Drow one at least) can also contain essences. Interesting.

  • Chilling Touch manacost rescaled from 140 to 110/120/130/140
I've advocated an early point of Chilling for a while (ie level 1-2), this only strengthens its harassment and first-blood potential quite a bit. Don't even have to put a second point in it until much later, because the first level comprises a massive amount of damage in a dual or trilane (and much earlier than the standard assortment of magic nukes).

A big change, but not crippling. Just means Bat will have to rely more on his Flamebreak and Firefly to proc the bonus damage Napalm gives.

Sizable nerf, but to a good end I think. The skill is primarily about vision, chasing, and gold, whereas armor and vision is the focus of a hero like Slardar. Differentiation!

Nearly doubled the old gain, which is great for getting some natural armor to accompany the necessity of near-suicidal initiation.

I know I've certainly put a lot of levels into the skill just to combat the myopic cast range, this helps quite a bit early.

So Scorched Earth will heal dominated creeps? Skeletons you summon? I have these weird visions of jungling pusher Skeledoom that probably won't pan out.

Love the hero, but this was the precise (well, not the specific range) nerf I was expecting to Trueshot Aura. Can't say I disagree with it at all.

Buffs the utility of early Enchant Totem in particular quite a bit, between the doubled level 1 stun duration (assuming you skill Aftershock, which you should) and doubled level 1 stun damage. An extra Totem a second earlier could prove marginally useful in later teamfights, provided your team isn't playing from behind.

I've a friend who loves Untouchable, I think he'll be thrilled at this change :P. Could prove more lucrative in the midgame, I suppose.

  • Reverse Polarity duration decreased from 2.5/3.25/4 to 2.25/3/3.75
Weakens the wombiest of all wombo combo heroes in the midgame (blink + skewer especially), which really isn't entirely undeserved. When it goes late, Enigma now has the longer disable regardless of how highly leveled a Magnus is.

  • Moonlight Shadow duration increased from 11 to 15 seconds
Hell of a lot cheaper lately, and now four additional seconds. I'd daresay there has to be someone who makes use of what is now essentially supersmoke. Buying invis detection gets more important all the time against a team with a Mirana in their midst.

  • Cast animation time decreased from 0.4 to 0.25
So one of 6.75's big nerfs has been essentially reversed:

  • Cast animation time increased from 0.3 to 0.45.
  • Morph manacost increased from 20 to 30 mana per second.
  • Base damage decreased by 6.
  • Waveform AoE decreased from 255 to 200.
  • Waveform no longer allows you to start attacking/casting before it is completed.

Cast time cut nearly in half compared to 6.75. Will that prove enough? I think it could, but I'm skeptical he'll be as popular as he was in the second International.

Half a second is lovely (especially when chasing), but I'm still wanting that pure damage effect for the Aghanim's Ult.

  • Haunt no longer ends when you use reality (the targeted illusion is still replaced by you though)
I like this change a great deal, because it doesn't require the hero to compromise her large-scale AoE presence anymore to join a teamfight. Radiance, Diffusal Blade, that coverage will now last for as long the fight does. Still not happy about her stolen hula hoop, though.

  • Great Cleave damage decreased from 25/40/55/70 to 20/35/50/65
  • Warcry duration decreased from 8 to 7 seconds
The first change is more or less one of the two I thought plausible (the other a nerf to the Cleave range). I think the hero would be still picked and farmed up if his instagib potential was half a team, instead of a whole.

  • Living Armor damage instances increased from 6 to 7
  • Living Armor can be cast through the minimap (only considers heroes and towers/rax in this mode)
I think he has a place in lineups dedicated to extreme passivity or aggression, but beyond my powers to predict which scene will get a taste for him first. Perhaps a dual (or triple) carry lineup could find some uses in stalling the push of their opposition with Treant.

Buffing the attributes on this is a really tricky deal, given it doubles as a damage source, and Morphling could squeeze a tidy 50 out of it. I'm of the opinion that it's worth trying at least a modest attribute buff, given Morph isn't really in a reign of terror situation at all anymore.
 
Shredder is incredibly fun. I'm curious why Linkens isn't even considered "situational." It seems better than Bloodstone to me, for someone who zips around a whole bunch.
 
Will they allow you to be paid in PayPal money? I only ask because I wouldn't want to sell an expensive item for steam money.

Viper is underrated. Nethertoxin is crazy good and his ult's slow portion goes through BKB - with a Scepter its on a 12 sec CD.

He doesn't need to rush damage items, instead going a tankier build is better, IMO. The damage from Nethertoxin is so good once they drop below half HP, it's better to stay alive longer, IMO.

Can skip Vanguard, but STR treads, Wand, Shadow Blade, Scepter is where its at. Vanguard probably good for a game with tough ganks or lots of team fights.

I actually built a Desolator on him the other day since the opposing team had a Tiny, an Alchemist, and one other tank-ish hero, and it worked out hilariously well. I switched between auto-attack and Q on every other attack and they just couldn't run while their armor melted away.
 
You can buy a key in the store and open it for some Drow loot, or rare items.

So buying a key on a chest like that might be a good idea? But the normal crates are probably not as lucrative?

I have boxes for Sven and Faceless void, are they worth opening or not really?
 
Nah man, the Drow chest is a normal chest. The chests are hero-specific. Or most are, at least. They do special chests for special occasions like Christmas, The International, etc etc.

If you highlight the chest, it should give you a general idea of what you could get. Every chest has a chance of getting something rare, but that is, well, rare. Most likely, you will just get a specific item for the hero that chest is designated for.

A Drow chest is a normal chest. All chests are limited to an extents a they're series's that change every couple months to different heroes. Eventually they get so numerous that the value becomes basically nil.

The idea is for Valve to generate free money. Now when people get nifty rare drops they don't want they might decide they would like to trade them for Steam cash which puts more money in the Steam economy. It's brilliant and only possible because of Steam's success. Also now playing TF2 and Dota will be profitable for hardcore players. Which is neat.
 
Thank the heavens for that Drow nerf. My last game my team had no answer to the Drow autopush and Luna's great pushing abilities. We crushed them every team fight, but it didn't matter because lanes were pushed up so far even though they barely did anything.

And does that mean Batrider can't case flame break after he hits his lasso? Incoming choke ganks.
 
Oh well I guess the most interesting part of chests, is that they could include strange items. Man, I totally forgot about those.

Strange items have modifiers attached to them. Like kill counts, maybe an added effect. So if you have a favorite hero and a chest for it, it could be worth doing once in a while.
