I feel like this guy should be robbing a bank with The Joker at the start of The Dark Knight

Why? WR has a item for a hood and Drow, Warlock and Maiden have them by default, how is 1 more bad?
Hats are fine. Hoods are fine like Invoker and Axe.
But hoodies and hooded jackets??? You have those 4 and Beastmaster already.

Plus he's an anti-mage he should have anti-hoodie technology

Yeah I'm surprised there are no clown or joker masks in the workshop.
Pudge would be a natural fit.

What do you guys think is the most effective build with Mirana? I mostly just build her the same way I build Drow: Treads, Yasha, Shadowblade, Crystalys, Manta, Daedalus. Been semi-effective so far.

I would not really make a Shadow Blade. Mirana has escapes already, she doesn't need to make an item for it.

Depending upon if I am Mid or solo lane, I get the usual stats/regen with one of the items being a Slipper of Agility. I turn that into a Ring of Aquila but after I get Bottle in Mid. I normally make Treads, sometimes I make Phase Boots if I feel really aggressive (I made those in HON because games were usually shorter but I don't do it DOTA 2 much). Yasha is good too for sure. After that I generally see what the team needs against the opponent. If the opponent has spellcasters or someone like Warlock/SK I make Diffusal Blade. The mana burn is great but the Purge can eat up Golems or can set up a stun with your arrow.

Manta is always good on Mirana, Daedalus not bad. I like Butterfly, MKB and even Eye of Skadi on her if more HP is required. If farming is insane then BoT is great on Mirana.

Don't like hoods on heroes - I like helmets or hats that have intricate styles, or to see my character's hair. Will always prefer a new hairstyle over a boring hood.

After getting wrecked myself this was a really fun game:

I thought it would've gone horribly with our team composition and Pudge-Chen insisting on laning together just to do the combo (which they managed once in the whole game). I barely went over my previous highest xpm so that was nice too.

Well Riki has a 50.61% win rate in the last week, which is very average. Drow is at 57%, she is pretty strong and will see some nerfs soon but it's not out of control. If you're seeing Riki dominate then I can only assume you're in the lower tiers of MM, where people strongly to deal with invis heroes.

But I want to. And that doesn't stop the dominance when they do come up.
Drow and Riki are pubstompers and will destroy your soul when you first play Dota. I had one Riki go 34-0 when I first started playing. Drow also was a holy terror when I first started playing and also recently when she got megabuffed.

Riki's weakness is, well, vision. He will die easily if you can see him. Slardar and Bounty Hunter are good counters to him because they have moves that can give vision of him. Also anyone with a silence. If you don't have those guys in your line up, it's worth it to buy sentry wards or a gem.

For Drow, you just gotta stun and nuke her with strong single target skills (like Lina's Laguna Blade). Like Riki, she can't take so much damage. Bane and Spirit Breaker are two heroes that can easily keep her stunned or immobile. Keep in mind that she will be jamming her shadow blade key throughout the disable, so buying dust, gem, or sentry wards is also helpful.

People seriously need to stop viewing Shadow Blade as an escape mechanic. I keep seeing it built in a crazy amount of games (why the hell is it recommended on Sniper?) where bad players seem to think it will grant them freefarm. Well, I buy dust and suddenly your entire investment turned into the most expensive 150 dmg nuke.

It's more frustrating when it's the hard carry on your team, unfortunately no way to dust that problem away.

Shadowblade is much better now that it also gives +30 Attack Speed, if anything I think people undervalue it at the moment.

Yeah, i only get if i can buy it really early and i'm gonna use it to initiate. Sure, the escape mechanism is nice but it gives me good dps an easy way to solo kill and that's enough.

Well I am new. I've been playing Lina a lot and it's still frustrating. If Riki becomes less of an issue later I guess I can deal :s But Drow is ridiculous.

I used to hate it too, mostly because of the hivemind that it's bad, but even if you do buy dust or sentries (most pubs don't) you still get the movement speed when you use it and run away before they can get you anyway. And the +30 attack speed on top of that makes it a fine item. Squishy carries like Drow, Sniper, Shadow Fiend can get them just fine these days imo. Depending on the game/enemy heroes.

Is this the first chest that's not hero specific without an event to accompany it? I really need that Lina hat!

You couldn't wear it at the same time as Anuxi's hair though :(

I like mixing and matching sets to get a unique look. The hat is awesome so I'm pretty keen to see how it goes with the set.

Another hero that I think Shadow Blade is underrated on is TA.

You lose the ability to chase with the blink that makes it so useful, but as an initiation tool, especially in early ganks, it's brutally strong. SB in, get nice and close, attack once for the backstab damage then immediately Meld and attack again for the Meld bonus damage. It also works in combination with meld for escape (if the shadow blade cooldown is off, but Meld is up, you can meld for a few seconds, then SB to run away. They might be left guessing if you're still in the same spot or not).

It's a pub tactic but it works, and pubs are all I play anyway. It's not better than a blink dagger as a serious item, but the bonus dmg and attack speed really make it more than viable in pubs. The surprise factor is also fun.

Is Valve going to do something about Drow and/or Riki dominating every match :|

Dominating? But is easy to deal with them!.

Drow: Pick heroes that can get close to her really fast and deal burst damage. Early to mid she cant handle that, late game she will be underfarmed to do anything.

Riki: Get gondar.

Edit: Also this match

at some point in the match I had like 22 kills and my team had 32 kills, I was starting to get worried as my burst damage wasn't enough anymore to handle some heroes and I was getting killed more often in clashes.
However my work was enough to shut down sniper and some other enemy heroes so my Alche and my NP could win the match for us.

I will only play DUSA in the comming week! Wish me luck! Ive never really played the new Medusa much, but i really liked the old chain lightning Gorgon :>

played 4 games with her today and always did good, 0-13 naix made me lose 1 game and 3-12 rikki with 4-11 WR made me lose another :/

Yup, I was Drow mid yesterday, dominated mid lane against Puck, then it was night time and a friendly hero called Night Stalker came to visit me and tear me a new asshole. Perfect counter to drow, he's fast and can be right next to her in an instant, which cancels her ult by 50%. And he deals massive damage fast to a squishy hero.

Was not fun to play against, lost that game hard.

Yeah I love playing Night Stalker. It feels like you are Jason in Friday the 13th or something that first night... people scared shitless.

Getting people who insta-lock Medusa. My counter is Faceless Void. Works out for both parties. They get to fail at a hero while I kill with ease.

6.77b is out

* Removed Christmas themed elements
* Fixed a death streak bounty bug
* Fixed Fire Spirits instantly kililng Forged Spirits
* Fixed Brilliance Aura's self effect on Crystal Maiden not working properly
* Fixed some tooltips

Nothing much.

If you have the option in All Pick, take Bounty Hunter or Slardar against Riki. They're both good heroes to learn anyway and their Ults are low cost, low cooldown, and they shut down his invisibility as well as either giving you bonus gold when you kill him (Bounty Hunter) or lowering his armor and making him even squishier (Slardar)

Other than that, Sentry Wards and Dust aren't actually that expensive, only a couple of last hits on creeps and you've recouped your investment, or even faster if you manage to kill Riki thanks to them.

The real problem though that you're going to run into as soon as you do this is that the rest of your team might not want to behave similarly and if you shut Riki down he'll just walk across the map and start killing your teammates instead.

Pudge is one of the most popular heroes in the game

why does Valve always feel the need to make cosmetics for him stupidly hard to get. All of his have been crate only, and in that crate, they've all been rare items. None of his items are on the store.

Seems like wasted money. Throw the items on the shop and watch the money come in.

I guess that's something I find annoying. They take their sweet time getting old crate items onto the store. Stuff like Elemental Tiny still isn't, it must be incredibly frustrating for the contributor of that item.

Pudge's popularity is precisely why his cosmetics are crate only. Valve likely makes more revenue selling half a dozen keys at $2.50 for a chance to get a Pudge cosmetic instead of selling it for $4.99.

Hmm that's a pretty good point. Good thing all the stuff I want for my favorite hero can be bought. I'd go mad opening chest after chest. Though, you could probably get good enough stuff to trade for what you wanted eventually if you never got what you wanted to begin with.
