Hey, it worked, wins don't lie.

I think SK has a place in so many peoples' hearts because he's everyone's first hero. Mine included.

Is he a bad hero in higher level play? I mean, he doesn't have any spectacular abilities, but he seems like a solid pick with his built-in crit, lifesteal, and aegis.

I think any viability he had dissapeared when force staff got nerfed.

The amount of awful players in the -AR pool is staggering. Not sure I'm going to bother queuing for it anymore.

Haha yeah it's pretty rough sometimes. I can understand not being entirely familiar with the character you get, that's fine. But I've had a few players who are just complete idiots and can't think logically about who they are playing. We had a Mirana who said he was okay with going solo suicide lane, 5 minutes and 5 deaths later he's complaining that he can't do it and doesn't understand why he had to solo. No points in Leap, he claimed it was a useless skill.

At least in my tier I have seen a farmed SK just demolish a game. I think he is still useful. Dat crit

Oh, I just interpreted high level play as competitive level play.
But yeah, I agree and I still enjoy playing him, he's by no means a bad hero for mm. A carry with stun and crit is always pretty good.

When I first started playing the game I just looked at items and bought what I needed depending on my hero.

"An item that gives me more crit? Sweet, I'll take this. Shadow blade gives me damage if I attack to break invisibility? If I get a crit, that's like double the damage from 1 attack! I already get lifesteal, if I get this vlads thing I'll get even more lifesteal!"

That was literally my entire thought process, man my SK days were so fun.

Yeah, I didn't know how to split items for building expensive stuff, so I would just buy things that looked useful. I used to like to grab a Staff of Wizardry by itself on Zeus because hey, I'm an int hero and that gives me more Int.

It's never a problem that they CAN'T be good but just a problem of if there are better pickups. I think he's an excellent hero but there are good ways to pickup abilities like his and still have useful abilities in those slots. Sven is SK without the passive problem.

why do they keep giving AM weird head things...

Purity of will.

I stopped playing him when the stronger heros got added, not much he can do against a TA or army of CK's...well actually I picked up Undying and fell in love with him but going back was hard.

The biggest problem is that he can be completely countered by a 1600 gold item, ghost scepter. Heavens Halberd is also a great counter to him. There's just a lot of heroes who are better than him and provide more utility.

I'm looking at the unreleased content and what exactly are quests? I'm guessing "kill this, kill that" type things? Also, when released, will it be something game changing?

Unlikely, that would change the nature of the game. My guest is that they are cheevos.

LOVE playing as Lich King. Just keep pestering them with frost blast at the start then build up my special chain attack. So powerful, especially when you get Aghanim's Sceptre...

(I'm a newbie, be kind)

Brood is still good.

Needs safe lane now though.

see but there's the problem. why the fck would you ever give broodmother safelane over any other hero

her strength was being able to solo hard lane, and that's why she was picked/was popular

I remember the last time I played with a brood it was thor and we completely dominated most of the game, he had insane farm, took their t1 and t2 towers within 15 minutes and we lost simply because the late game was a 4v5 situation. To me, even a farmed brood is just a worse version of most carries. Any hero is strong when farmed.

Stop building Orchid on Brood and she can be an extremely nasty carry who farms very quickly due to spiderling jungling. Midas, Phase, Manta = monster lifesteal carry who moves at near max movement speed under webs. Get crit afterwards and you can solo Roshan. Soul Ring is the only mana item you need on her.

I'm going to try this on a lark tonight.

Watching Matt's steam, noticing that a lot of cosmetics that were added to the files previously and then removed are now back in the files.

That Druid set with the bear shoulder was in the files awhile ago, but then they removed it. I guess they got it fixed to the point they liked.

just played a nice pub game with a Natures Prophet that refused to put any points into treants, "pushed" towers solo (without creeps or treants), and never joined in teamfights. We also lost an Axe who decided to rage quit because of NP. Funny enough, we almost still won basically 3v5, until other bs towards the end heh. Sigh.. pub matches. Took me 5 tries to even find a match where someone didn't leave before the start.

I'm a noob and play Leshrac 99% of the time. I'm usually on with one or two buddies that are just as new. Would love to play with any patient players on here that wouldn't mind letting us absorb some knowledge while we absorb some beatings online.

I'm usually on around 11PM EST, and we voice chat on Steam.

I was just browsing through the highest rated threads in r/dota2, and I found this (I'm sure most of you already know/have seen this):

There are indicators that let you know if you're in range of towers.
Radiant
Dire

Really nifty.

After seeing how popular this game is, decided to give it a proper shot.

First time I tried it I turned it off within 5 minutes because I had no idea what's going on. I watched some tutorials on youtube and now I'm actually having fun.

I suck but I still have fun. One annoying thing is that in every game I've played at least 2 people have quit.

Any tips?

Probably a coincidence. You could find a matching plant or rock for any range.

What I would like to see is some in-game indication of the jungle camp areas. Those can be hard to ward or counter-ward when you have to guess how big they are.

Are you talking about the magic bush?

Also not a coincidence.

This ursa blogpost on dota metrics is pretty interesting.

Seems if you want to carry late as ursa, his best stat is attack speed. So ac or mjol after heart?

Just played with Ayesee on my team. Didn't realize it until near the end of the game. The Necrolyte on our team was saying he sounded really familiar.

https://dotabuff.com/matches/113598543

damn, ya'll got disassembled. looks like mid was a disaster.

But really...it's very, very hard to win against heroes like Zeus, Weaver, Doom etc. if you don't have any regular, reliable disables. On your whole team, only disables are ultimates (lasso, necro ult). Don't cut the mustard.

In fact, my personal rule of thumb is: if you don't have at least 2 relatively reliable disablers selected, you're probably going to lose. Repick if necessary. You'll never see a pro match where a team will have less than 2 disables. Usually 3 and a slow or two. I'm watching the first Na'Vi GU match from today right now and GU has 3 disables and a slow (SD + Wisp + CK), all of which are regularly available (not tied to a high cooldown ultimate). Na'Vi has 3 disables and 2 slows (Lina + Rubick + Nyx, PL + Lifestealer). I can think of few matches I've lost recently where we lost the disabler drafting phase.

It's funny because Chinese teams used to run her in the safelane.

lol wut. satanic doesn't work on ursa. his 3rd skill is an orb effect

butterfly isn't really that good on ursa. you're either supposed to stun lock the opponent with a bash, or have the support stun and hit it as fast as possible to stack the orb. butterfly assumes you're gonna get into a rightclick war with the enemy carry and won't outdamage him, which should never happen if you're ursa, unless you get stunned by the supports, in which case butterfly won't help

Massive troll.
Funny you should say that...
Honest question! Sorry if I rubbed salt on any wounds :(
Kinda. Search for your name in recent games and then try the different skill levels (which is the average hidden mmr of the game).
High skill is one standard deviation above the mean, meaning top 15.8%, very high skill is two std devs, meaning top 2.2%, and everything else is sorted as normal skill.
So if you solo queue and are consequently placed in the same bracket you could probably say that you are in that bracket.

And let's not talk about the now defunct dbr...
My man! And now I'm curious about this "dbr"...
