Played as Spectre for the first time today. Probably the most "carry" games I've ever played, died more than I was killing in the early game and didn't get a lot of farm (ended up with only a Vanguard, Diffusal, Treads and a Manta that was completed ten seconds before we won) but I did end the game at lv 25, racking up kills and seriously helping us push.

I've always thought of bloodstone as core on Leshrac. I seem to only do well with him when I build bloodstone. Other Lesh builds don't seem to work for me.

When I play Leshrac as support, I don't even think about it as I can't get any farm for him (I usually go for phase drums Eul's but honestly it doesn't feel like a good support build- most likely I'm playing it wrong) but when I get to play him as a mid, it's pretty easy to pick up as long as I am aggressive with ganking sidelanes and rune control.

Unless you get it by 12-13 mins it's too late. Try atos or ags, especially atos.

With atos you trade some HP, mana, and regen for 20 damage and an awesome long range slow which is great on pretty much anything, including lesch. You also get 2k gold.

Versuta has been warned a lot about how he's not allowed to restream games without permission and now his twitch account got banned. Now Tobi's chat is full with Russians spamming 10 lines in Russian constantly.

Such nice people like usual.

I only get bloodstone on Lesh when I'm allowed to play carry, or if it just works out that way when I end up getting a shitload of kills early on.

Bloodstone not really worth it as much the later you get it. I never buy shit like that if I'm playing support.

lol, did you just generalize and entire country of people based on the actions of like maybe 50 people? Also he's not restreaming, he's casting the games from DotaTV which isn't the same thing.

99% of the Russians I see are horrible people, so I guess I am.

I wrote an overly long guide for beginners. My goal was to just focus on typical problems beginners have, but it got too long. I might slim it down later. Any tips or advice would be useful.

A few suggestions on the Last Hits section to make it a little more readable:

Last Hitting: The most important skill in the game. Last hitting is when you give the killing blow to an enemy creep, which gives you bonus experience and gold. No matter what character you play, you need to know how to do this. Last hitting takes a lot of practice and it’s easier to last hit with some compared to others.

Auto-attacking: This is a default setting that you can change under the "Game Options" menu. When disabled, your hero will repeatedly attack any enemy you right click on but will not begin attacking the next closest enemy. This is useful in the early part of the game when you're developing a sense of timing for achieving the last hit on a creep.

There's a downside to turning off auto-attack -- when you want to kill multiple enemies later in the game, you'll need to right click each enemy in succession. This is less efficient than allowing auto-attack to move on to the next target. Experiment with the auto-attack setting on and off to understand your preference.

Similar to last hits, you can also practice "Denies" -- this is where you kill your own creep/tower to prevent the enemy from gaining gold/experience. You can only attack your own unit when it's under 10% health. Right-clicking it does not work -- you need to manually attack it using the A key, then left click.

If you want to practice last hitting and denies, make a bot game, where you are the only hero, go mid, and practice for about ten minutes. Keep trying to top your score. Obviously it takes skill and practice, but the big thing is that you need to always be aware that you should be trying to get last hits, not just helping to kill the creep.

Sings new team:

QPAD

Today we're happy to announce a partnership with a new DotA2 team lead by WehSing 'Sing_Sing' Yuen and Niklas 'Wagamama' Högström known as 'QPAD Dragons'. We're excited to welcome the members to the QPAD family! over 2013 we will work closely with the team to support them in their quest to draw over mini maps at all tournaments. If the players wish to train as a team in preparations for the tournament circuit this year, we even built a boot camp facility at the QPAD offices in Stockholm complete with bunk beds! Though it's not all good news, as surely there will be fights over the top bunk and the single pillow we can provide. As more details get released about the European DotA2 circuit in 2013, we expect to fully support the team to all LAN competitions, and wish them the best of luck this year.

Core Members:
WehSing 'Sing_Sing' Yuen
Niklas 'Wagamama' Högström

Trialing Members:
Craciunescu 'ComeWithMe' Alexandru
Jerry 'EGM' Lundkvist
Benjamin "NotAHax" Läärä
Hampus 'Mini' Olsson

Unfortunately due to recent tournament performances 'Skrff and Weppas from the GD Studio' didn't make the cut.

The Team will be handled by 'The GD Agency' and managed by James '2GD' Harding, Here's what the team had to say about the partnership.

WehSing 'Sing_Sing' Yuen - "I wanna play more Dota2, please stop talking to me."

James '2GD' Harding - "QPAD have been a long term supporter of eSports, I remember back in 2004 when they helped me attend DreamHack Winter at the start of my Quake 4 career and today I'm thrilled to partner with QPAD again to assist the very dedicated DotA2 team in being able to pursue a fulltime career in eSports."

As you can see everyone's a winner! Sings so happy he even drew us a lovely picture during his visit to the QPAD HQ, but for legal reasons we are unable to post it on facebook...

If you wish to know more, The GD Studio are conducting a Q&A session with the players over on twitch.tv/thegdstudio from 20:00 to 20:45 CET today.

Good suggestion...I'll try Rod of Atos next time around if I have a subpar/ poor start...Phase/Drums/Eul's doesn't seem to work as well as I thought it should...

I think I've played Spectre like, once, but damn it was fun. I farmed really well, got a quick Radiance and tore up the other team with that and Dispersion. They couldn't touch me, I could farm the jungle all I wanted, and just pop into a forming teamfight with Haunt. I really wish she got buffed somehow to make her more viable. I think if anything Desolate needs a buff, those small bonus damage don't scale.

On a random note, I think I should play all the heroes I think I'm garbage at again. That Lifestealer game I had yesterday was really inspiring, and I thought he was my second worst hero. Maybe I just saw people play him enough and figured it out.

Now the question is: Can I play a pubstomping Radiance Bloodseeker now?

Yeah, this was my favorite part. I felt alright going off to farm because I knew I could be at any fight instantly.

Although I know you're mostly asking about Lesh (who I never play as support), going Mek->Rod of Atos is a really solid strat for support heroes as it gives you good viability and utility.

So with all the Bloodstone hate in here, what do you guys think of building one on Death Prophet? I've done it my last few DP games and it worked out well.

Where does 2GD get the money to sponsor his own team? I know him from the Quake scene only, but it seems he's got his hands everywhere now.

I keep wondering that myself, he has the GD Show, but it's not THAT many viewers that tune in. Or maybe I'm underestimating the ad money they get.

Hes very active in the e-sports scene, and has become a personality a lot of people pay to have at their events. If I recall, he got popular for casting Starcraft 2 games and then it just exploded.

Bloodstone is amazing, fuck the haters. I will only agree that getting it after 20-25 min makes it not really worth it. If you're playing a mid hero like DP, Storm, or Lesh and you cant get your Bloodstone pre-20, you probably have more pressing issues.

But, to answer your question. Rod of Atos, Euls, Linkens, stuff like that. Survivability and mobility.

QPAD will sponsor the team for a year. 2GD will be the manager. He have a lot of projects in esports, a caster agency, the GD studio, a player agency, lots of contacts (he contacted Sing and Waga with QPAD for example), works for TwitchTV Europe and more. He is deeply involved in esports and is working in developing a FPS esport game (Reborn). Cool dude.

Alchemist new meta!

Does anyone who used to play the original dota a lot have the problem of hitting the old hotkeys for your abilities by accident. I have about 60-70 games of dota 2 played now so my brain is functioning a bit better than before, but it still happens from time to time. Maybe it's just muscle memory.

Yeah I try not to play Lesh as support either but sometimes I'll pick Lesh thinking I'm going go be able to farm and then low and behold my teammates will pick more farm dependent heroes. I definitely will try the Mek-> Rod of Atos combo for supports in general as I seem to brain fart these days when it comes to support itemization.

Last hitting is when you give the killing blow to an enemy creep, which gives you bonus experience and gold.

I think you only get bonus gold from last hitting not XP...

You know there's a legacy hotkey option, right?

I didn't know that. Hmm, I wonder if that would be better.. I feel like I should just adapt to QWER.
If you have legacy just ingrained in your head, you might as well stick to it. Some people say QWER is better just because you have more open keys to assign to global functions, such as courier stuff and the chat wheel.

Anuxi make a cat for 2GD.

And put a bird on it.

Holy shit

Ancient Apparition's ult is THE MOST FUN THING EVER

My favorite ultimate and I almost always have it on cooldown. There always something you can do with it and have it back up for the next big engagement.

And there is nothing more satisfying in Dota 2 than killing someone with his ultimate then timing it just right so you hit them with it again right when they respawn. Sure it isnt enough to kill them and they only have to wait around in their base another 4 or 5 seconds to heal, but its about the mind games man!

I like and can play Leshrac either way. If I'm playing hard support, I tend toward building Urn and Drums on him (with eventual strength treads), makes you a lot more tanky for ganks and fights, and you provide a lot of sustain to the team. Mek and Atos are a great middle ground.
