Anyone else have the problem of when trying a new hero out, you get stuck with a terrible team, so you really have no idea if you're just bad with that hero or if it was the team bringing you down? I swear, every time I try out someone new, this happens. Yet, I'll go play a game with one of the few heroes I play constantly and the whole team just wrecks the opposing team.

The matchmaking system anticipates that you are going to pick a new hero and matches you up with noobs just to frustrate you. I seriously doubt that your inexperience with the hero's abilities and item builds would make you the weak link.

That kunkka set looks pretty stylish. Is the keen in the bush suppose to be a courier? Wonder what the flying version is.

Nah it has an eyeball in the looking glass. It's an animated ward. Don't know what hero it is for though? Maybe not hero themed at all.

That's cool, I'm surprised I didn't notice that.

The workshop submissions are getting to the point where it is more like outsourcing to a professional per item basis than it is just the average joe modeling something. Not that I'm complaining as a consumer.

Man Pudge's hook seems downright unfair at times. I was getting wrecked earlier by one, my first time laning against him. :[

Man, simply love the games, where the midplayer loses horribly, then tries to gank and fails, and then blames the other guys for sucking. Best part is the ragequit after going 0/6 ten minutes into the game.

Dota!

On another note: I wept a tear when I saw the most popular Phantom Lancer build on Dotabuff.... Why... why...

Some of the new cosmetic items in the workshop are nice, but I don't get the fascination with the living ward. It looks out of place IMO.

Yeah, while it's neat and well made I seriously doubt it'll get in since it's hard to tell from a quick glance what it is. The observer eyeball is just too hidden on the model.

Two straight games where the enemy very aggressively warded our jungle so we couldn't pull. I dewarded as best as I could, but when I popped one sentry down, took out two of their observers, they STILL had wards on it because the camp didn't spawn. I've never seen so much aggressive jungle warding before so early. I need to start doing that.

Also that is indeed a ward, based off of the keens/dwarves. More animations.

You probably blocked the spawn with your own ward.

So I am the demons. Either way, I never really saw such aggressive counter-warding to prevent pull camps. Maybe because I'm in dirt tier games, but still. I guess one more thing I need to pay attention to.

Watching Dendi stream, has the camera on his keyboard/mouse... dude has some monkey fingers to do what he's doing with this hand like that. I'm trying, granted on a different keyboard, but just feels crazy to only use index, middle and thumb for most everything.

Oh also, how do you get to screen to see what ranks players are with whatever hero? I looked but could never find it. Is that part of the premium service or whatever?

Is this Tinker or Timbersaw? I'm kind of leaning toward Timbersaw, but one could argue Tinker with the blue outline right below the eyeball.

I kind of like that he does that. It's different and interesting to see. I don't think I've seen any other Dota player do that - maybe some SC2 player at some point.

I had a recent game as bounty hunter where I noticed that the Naix was jungling early on. Killed him a few times solo and with my lane parter (we were Dire bot) when he was vulnerable and had already lost a bunch of HP to creeps. Probably didn't expect or never experienced such aggressive anti-jungle behavior at the MMR I'm at. I don't think I've ever been gabled jungling myself. Rarely warded against.

I can appreciate all the enduring work that went into that keen ward, but I don't want it in the game. Couriers for living things, wards for static objects. Not saying I'm against animated wards, but not something with as much movement as that.

That is a Tinker ward, if it was a Timbersaw ward it would be made out of wood with some metal or have a small sawblade in it.

Sort of mentioned it already, but I have to agree. It's just way over the top in terms of movement. Wards should remain relatively static.

4 for bottle.
3 for blink
Weird.

Need that space bar blink

Just who is he trolling by getting Atos on Zeus?
It's not clearly a, "because I can, because I'm stylin on you" purchase? More than "trollin", I meant "stylin" anyway, because...I don't think I've ever seen a Zeus buy one. Ever. I know it's the flavor of the month here, though so that's how I interpreted the purchase.

wut, atos is amazing on zeus.
Yes, yes everything is amazing on everyone. In a closer, more competitive match, why would this be the best choice for this hero? Do let me know so I'll have an idea when to purchase it on him. With the Ursa on that team, it makes sense, but I always thought of it as an item best for the right-clicking heroes on the team. Zeus' skill casting ranges and cool downs are also among the best in the game, so I'm not clear on how it benefits him specifically, since he rarely has a problem snatching someone's life from distance. If chasing is the goal, would not a cheaper option like a force staff or Euls accomplish that for less? Or if sustainability is the issue, perhaps the veil which gives +6 armor in addition to the magic dama the buff would give something similar to a couple hundred HP worth of damage you can take? I don't know the numbers, but how much armor do you need to get the effective equivalent of 300hp? Anyone know?

I'm still learning, so feel free to help me understand why this item is often preferable on this hero as to consider it "amazing" over more common Zeus purchases like Euls, Aghs, etc. I know why a Silencer or Ursa or similar would want it, but not as clear why a bad right-clicker would over similarly priced items unless you're at the point where you're in a dominant position against the other team. Being very, very situational, I've not seen it purchased enough in serious games to have the best idea of when to or not to pick it up. Thanks.

Cat shocked my pc and it crashed... did I see someone dive to kill their courier?
Yessir. Team getting destroyed.

I know that solo pub feel. Worst part is his team got face rolled last game too. He was like, "that was gonna be my last game but...can't go out like this..."

Instant replay.

Even though all you say about Zues, high range, low cd, spell based, etc is accurate, you still normally have to hit someone with more than one round of nukes to kill them. Your biggest defense against Zues, in general, is just running away because of his rather low ms, and atos negates that. Adding that slow to both solo and team ganks seemed to help my efficiency a great deal early game, and combine it with the mobility from force staff and all of a sudden I'm very hard to get away from.

Veil may have been an ok choice here as well, but I went with atos for a couple reasons. First, I was the only primarily magic damage based hero on the team. Second, bm didn't get boar, so we had no slows on the team. Third, if I got silenced, which happened all the time fucking silencer, veil gave me nothing on it's own while atos still gives you a great slow.

*takes notes*

That all makes perfect sense. A way to keep you helpful and relevant vs a Silencer on a team full of right-clickers. I can definitely see implementing this in that scenario. I'll probably forget until I buy the item more.

Best All Random game ever:

It doesn't quite show here because they caught up with us a bit by the end, but at the 20 minute mark we were something like 24-6 and by the time their carries started geting farm we had knocked down all of their T2 towers. They won a few fights at the end but a Veil of Discord combined with the nuking power of Zeus, Lion, Bane and Veno meant that we tore them apart in the last few fights.

How did Nyx not shit on your squishy team!

I don't think he ever used Mana Burn! I was actually building a Linken's specifically because of him until I realized that he wasn't doing shit and decided on a Eul's instead to deal with the Spirit Breaker who was the biggest problem we had in teamfights (a few stunlocks turned a couple of fights)

That hilarious moment when you pop Eclipse the split second before OD Astral Prisons you, and he dies that way...twice.

That moment when you do the same thing, but against Song of the Siren when she wants to pop it and run away.
