That's my Game of Thrones inspired glorious return to PC gaming for Bioware? You guys didn't put up the trailer for Rings of the Lord by mistake?

VERILY THE BLIGHT OF THE LAND DOTH ENCROACH UPON US WITH HORNED MONSTERS OUT OF A THIRD TIER EA ART ASSEMBLY LINE

.

I'm a bit disappointed. That video looked like it was something more suited for E3 rather than a teaser to get you excited.

Not sure if it was the video encoding but this game is a new level of washed out when it comes to the color pallet. The scenario thats being played out calls for muted colors but it all just looked wrong.

This is it!? This video is not how one hypes games! I would smash the video and rain beatings liberally down on the people for playing such a trick if I only knew how!

....what the fuck was that?

Looks great and everything but jesus, it's been how many years in development? And they give us 20 seconds of lord of the rings redux?

You know, I can see the arguments to the contrary, but I don't think a gritty setting/story needs gritty graphics. A bloody, depressing scenario can be described with vivid colours, after all.

Don't worry guys, I'm sure they spent the four years writing journal and codex entries to flesh out the world!!! The world is so believable!!!!

Terrible. Terrible. One thing I've hated about this era of cinematic games is that it is now entirely possible to have footage that tells you absolutely nothing about a game. smh, Bioware. And Origins? Is this episodic now?

The Origins suubtitle confused me too.

That's it?

The only thing to be gleamed is that they're still working on it.

Yeah, they should've left if off and just use subtitles for subsequent releases.

Wait, this was supposed to have something to do with GRRM? I'm confused; I didn't hear anything about that. Or were people just expecting Bioware to do something in the ASOIAF style (more story driven dramatic high fantasy)?

btw, can't fucking wait for ADWD

wtf was that... why would they release that trailer, it makes it look like such a wanna-be LOTR game that no one will care about...

*dissapointed* :(

This teaser looked good but I still barely know anything about the game. Hopefully E3 will deliver some actual gameplay.

This trailer is completely uninteresting, and looks super generic fantasy. Still, it's Bioware and PC exclusive, so I'll probably end up buying it no matter what I think of the art.

Omg you guys and your abbreviations some times MMSC (makes me super confused).

Really! It's ASoIaF. There, much less confusing :D

Anyway, my only hope is that this is all just marketing to perhaps entice a few mainstream LotR-inspired sales, and that the game itself remains true to what they claimed in earlier interviews. But I've lost quite a bit of confidence in this title.

Oh god... those character designs... all the characters looked like they had a skin disease or something. Where did the color go?

In some interview they said that the game is influenced by ASOIAF.

I was really thrilled about it after reading some of the stuff they posted a long while back on their forums. After watching that though my anticipation kind of dropped. It just reminded me of dynasty warriors for some reason.

Ah thanks! Didn't know we were actually abbreviating people's names now :)

edit: smh is not something fantasy-related, right? And I don't think it means Sydney Morning Herald either :)

Huge dissapointment. I don't know what I was supposed to expect. I remember just eeing that one screen of the guy walking in town. I hoping for an oblivion killer. Based on that trailer not even close.

Well, it's not going be anything like Oblivion, so I don't think that's a very fair comparison. And yeah the trailer (cutscene?), is weak, but this game will rock anyway.

I was prepared for a setting that would look uninspired though, so I guess I braced myself a little more than others :)

Ha, can't even blame this one on consoles as it's only coming out for PC :lol

Sometimes games get dumbed down over the course of development and it has nothing to do with the platform they are on. They're clearly aiming for the LoTR crowd with this one.

That's become clear to you just by watching that 30 second cutscene?

Uhm, yes?

30 seconds which are supposed to give us a look at what we should expect from the final game. That teaser is supposed to sell the game world to the audience and it screams LoTR. Which isn't bad by any means, just not what everyone expected after all the hype.

Usually now would be the time PC elitists started somehow blaming this on consoles. How the setting was dumbed down from GRRM-esque fantasy to blockbuster summer movie material because they have to account for all the 12 year old frat boys on consoles who can't keep their hands still for more than 10 seconds.

This is going to be delicious for me as it unfolds.

In an age of the Blizzard super announcements, why do game companies even bother with these small teasers anymore? Without gameplay to back up impressions, it seems like a teaser has a far higher chance of blowing up in your face (see: DNF, Killzone 2) than actually accomplishing anything.

So, yeah. I have to agree with people that it sucked, although it can be redeemed if the gameplay is good. Which we need to see like now.

I know a teaser is supposed to warm people up to a game, and this one certainly doesn't do that. It hardly shows anything, just a battle, some monsters and about one and a half lines of dialogue. I don't know if it's like LotR. That certainly had epic fights and big trolls, too, but it is far too early to tell.

You were right in that the trailer is ineffective, but I think it should be criticized for what it doesn't show, rather than what it does.

I was just about to post this. Developers stop with the stupid fucking teasing. It rarely helps your cause. Don't show your games until you got something meaty to show. 10-20mins of actual gameplay.

This. Did you guys watch the other trailers from the GTTV show? Goddamned terrible.

Cinematic, in-game footage? Really? Someone at Bioware, and or EA thought this would be a fantastic idea for first time, hyped footage? Along with a name change to boot.

Without game-play and it's many shades of mechanics, dialog or even UI footage, there was absolutely nothing exciting about the teaser. And to think Fallout 3's footage was equally horrendous and devoid of any information.

Enough with the cinematic footage, it is tiring, and it is pointless. Oh how I long for the days when actual game-play footage was key to hyping, selling a game.

Ive been spoiled by the Diablo 3 unveil, being greeted with amazing cg, and then 20 min gameplay commentary, and then artwork.

I think there just might be console versions we'll see.

Man, let me pile on. That video was really generic. It looked like shit I've seen a bunch of times already. :\

I hope that there's some interesting combat/ dialogue stuff shown during E3. Maybe I can get past a generic setting if the gameplay is really cool. But, man... I was hoping for something more unique for this teaser, but everything they showed looked so dull.

The managed to show both too much and too little all at once.

Nolan. said:

As goofy as it sounds, if there's a console version of this game, Bioware would lose a shit ton of good will from their PC fanbase. This was supposed to be their return to the place they were best at.

Of course, this "trailer" was a bad start to anything. PC only, console only or iPhone only. Fugly trailer. =(

I don't think this teaser was "supposed to give us a look at what to expect for the final game," merely show us more about the game than we knew before, which the idiot Chris Priestly in the DA forums will say it does, as anything thing that says anything at all about the game is "revealing information" to him.

A teaser is supposed to make you want the product or care about it more. That is the purpose of a teaser, and this one is a fucking utter failure. The only good thing about it is the # of units on the screen at once, but even that isn't that impressive these days. They all looked uninspired and generic, and as mentioned earlier, if Dragon Age doesn't feel unique and fitting in its looks/art/graphics, then all is lost. You can't judge anything from the teaser really. Just your (lack of) hype after seeing it.

I'm with people all the way about my confidence and faith in what this game sought to be going way down. Well, there's still E3 for them to really impress us with actual content.

Should have kept the lame ass Forgotten Realms setting.

I was waiting for your disappointment. :lol

Did Evilore comment already? I can't imagine this trailer went over too well with him either. They could have pulled this off much better if they were much more cyptic with the teaser, and didn't act like it was a big deal. I hope E3 will show a lot about this game, for the best too.

Way too short, but I'm not overly disappointed in what I've seen. Graphics looked up to snuff.

Can I ask the people going "oh this is not GRRM, disappointment total -1 sales" if they can name 30 seconds of reading in the GRRM books that does convey his style? Again, the trailer was too short to even tell anything about the game.

Jaime throwing saying "The things I do for love" then throwing Bran out the window.
It happens pretty early on in the first book to.

They could've put up a "LotR: Conquest" logo at the end and I wouldn't have known the difference. Hopefully, they'll show gameplay at E3.
