Dragon Age Spell combos: grease + fireball = grease fire. TOOLSET confirmed.

I hope Mass Effect 2 isn't too far away, I really liked the first game. Is the same team working on Dragon Age or is it a separate team, meaning ME2 won't have to wait for this?

I hope it takes a long time, cause they have a lot of fixing to do. Especially with the horrible customization, UI, and relatively poor combat.

Oh and the lame sidequests and repetitive palette swap planets and the elevators.

Yeah, all that

All due respect to BioWare, but goddamn... the fantasy scene has been done to death.

No, the Tolkien style fantasy tale has been done to death. Too many think that fantasy means "Elves and goblins and Dark Lords and magic spells tee hee", when fantasy encompasses such a broad array of authors and stories as to be nearly limitless.

I don't think anyone was expecting a truly inspired and original take on fantastic fiction, but after all the years of talk, its disappointing to see Bioware dipping deeply once more into the LotR well, and letting the influence soak into every aspect the games visual style.

Dragon Age has been in the works for a while, so it's definitely a separate team.

Edit: Why was there even a second trailer? I don't understand what was better about it, even slightly. The substance was pretty much exactly the same, just recut with more shots of LOTR-esque waves of things rushing at one another.

Is it too much to hope that bioware is just shitting with us and the real trailer is going to be shown for E3?
No more fucking trailers, just show us some damn gameplay already.

So yesterday I played a little bit of The Witcher and it looks better than what was shown in this trailer. Anybody finds similarities between The Witcher and this game?

Yeah, the real trailer will be at E3. It will be a recut version of the second trailer.

fuuuuck

damn, I remember one of the first things I saw of nwn1 was a narrated gameplay thing where they showed the interface and a couple of quests. really sold me on the game ..... although when I finally got the game long long after I didn't really care for it ....... but still. what up, do one of those as soon as possible. damnit

Blah.

*watches Diablo 3 gameplay*

THIS is how a new game should be announced. Have your flashy trailer then have a good gameplay demo trailer showing it off. Come on Bioware, I had more faith in you than this. Console development has made you weak </goading shit talk> :lol :D

Sweet, hopefully with more rain and random fighting that don't mean shit to anyone. And hopefully they can cut the length down to a more manageable 25 seconds. I'm sick of these long ass trailers that give away anything.

Wow, the 2nd teaser was worse than the first. At least the first set up a bit of plot.

You know Bioware what we've been completely bereft of in regards to Dragon Age is INFORMATION. You know what your teasers had nothing of? INFORMATION.

The first trailer was horrible. The second wasn't that bad, if the game's engine can actually handle that many creatures on screen and allow for that epic of battles, this game has my attention.

That's it? I was more excited when Neverwinter Nights had been pimped and Mass Effect made waiting for Fall all that much harder.

You and me both.
I dont get whats so wrong with it. The game looks awesome, what's generic about it? All fantasy looks the same, how do you expect it to be different.

:lol
Seriously, that's just ignorant. Even if you constrain yourself to games only there are plenty of fantasy settings that are more unique. Just look at PS:T.

I don't know why Bioware thinks this is a proper way to reveal their game, but then again companies make a lot of decisions I don't understand.

I think all the trailer disappointment will fade in a few days when they show off the actual game. At least, I hope so.

What game? All I see is a cutscene that can't even hold a candle to the opening scene in Dawn of War from 4 years ago, much less recent stuff like MGS4.

Just seems like a really poor way to show the game. Maybe they're trying reverse-hype. Underwhelm us with lackluster prerelease media and later on release a fabulous demo so that nobody will end up disappointed/underwhelmed?

Having EA next to Bioware in the credits makes me cry.

Anyway, nothing more to see really. Teaser I guess does describe it. Go figure.

*Looks forward to E3*

I can only guess that they intend to show this in full at E3, but still it's one hell of a PR fuck up, it's like no one even thought about what we know about Dragon Age (ie nothing).

For a game that was announced at the same time as Jade Empire (if I recall correctly) and having next to nothing shown from it in all those years, you'd really think they could do a bit better.

Considering the talent of Bioware and productions values of EA I'm underwhelmed.
The productions values are definitely there... but other than that it's certainly underwhelming. I never expected a Bioware game to have such uninspired trailers, not after incredibly awesome trailer for Mass Effect.

Thankfully Mass Effect 2 is coming as well.

Jade Empire was announced in 2003, released in 2005. Dragon Age was announced in (december) 2006.

The problem with the trailer is that there's no hook. A good trailer presents you with an idea or story that makes you hungry and excited for the full game. All those two trailers offered were generic, cookycutter fantasy images. It could well be that the full story of Dragon Age is really up there with Tolkien and GRRM, but without context it looks more like a bad Dragon Lance novel.

The NWN trailer talked up Bioware, their experience, and how NWN was going to change the world. Mass Effect's came across like a Hollywood preview, touching on the story, the conflict in the game, while leaving you wanting for more. For an original IP that is supposed to be one of Bioware's most passionate projects, it's incredibly underwhelming.

It's a good thing my expectations aren't based on this trailer, but I'm surprised that after waiting for anything on the project, this is what they decide to release.

That says a lot to me.

It's just that there's nothing to this. What am I supposed to get excited about? A bunch of generic fantasy guys fighting a generic fantasy battle? I've seen that four million times at this point. There's not even some unique stylistic aspect of it that differentiates it from whatever other similar thing.
