Blind hate on GT is literally like hating on the Star Wars prequels.

They both fucked up a lot of things but they also had great parts.

The only problem I have with the Buu saga is that it went on too long. Gohan being the strongest Z-fighter in the end was great. The Fusion between Goku and Vegeta was cool, but it should have ended after they seperated. They remove fat Buu and the others. Evil Buu powers down and Goku and Vegeta combine a Kamehaha and Big Bang Attack to kill him off.

After that, Goku and Vegeta spend the rest of their days training the new young generation while Gohan acts as protector of Earth until Pan, Goten and Trunks are ready.

But oh well, it ended how it ended.

Yepp, it felt way too long.

Yepp, it felt way too long.

I think the reason it felt too long is because there is almost always one fighter up against Buu for the entire duration of the saga. He moves from fight to fight.

In the other sagas, we got to see other people fighting such as Frieza's army or the Androids, and the primary antagonists had other goals such as finding the dragonballs or becoming perfect.

From the moment evil Buu comes out of fatty it's just fight fight fight for the rest of DBZ.

I actually like the Buu saga a lot. It's silly as fuck and that's what Dragon Ball is all about. I want to watch Buu Kai without all the filler but Funimation is holding it for some reason.

Unfortunately, Buu Kai still has a bunch of filler. Not as much as Z, but there is still a lot. It's not that good, and you might as well read the manga.

It's not blind hating when there are a litany of specific criticisms. And the bad in both GT and the Star Wars prequels far outweigh the good.

Loved the Buu saga, especially the beginning till Super Buu. Than it becomes lots of comedy. The beginning was some serious shit.
I think the only part of Buu I genuinely dislike is Gotenks vs. Buu, and even though the fight itself was pretty ridiculous, Gotenks had the most unique techniques seen in a long time. Vegito was also a pointless character in the end. They didn't need two fused characters, both of them failures. Kid Buu was pretty dumb and everything involving him is just dragging the story out at that point. None of those fights were particularly interesting, either. Mr. Satan getting his moment sort of redeems it, though.

I don't care what anyone says, Super Saiyan 3 was the hypest thing ever, and it still is.

Buu is still the weakest link overall, but it's not terrible.

That is subjective.

The prequels have millions of fans (and got a new generation into star wars, just like Clone Wars did), you have no right telling them your tastes are better.

The only difference is that GT wasn't handled by the creator of Dragon Ball.

So maybe the prequels are really closer to Dragon Ball Super, even though he's just doing some designs and story outlines.

Everything from Vegito to the end was just bad. It was clear by then Toriyama was trying to shoehorn Goku back in as the winner instead of letting the new generation shine.

Ugh, I'm so behind on Super, need to set a few days aside so I can catch up.

"How Buu supposed to live up to body image in magazine?!"

LOL

And there are so many hilarious scenes before he and Mr. Satan become friends. The exploding Gameboy, tricking Buu to do a "death" pose for his fake victory picture. But for some reason the one moment that brought tears to my eyes the first time I saw it and still gets quoted by my friends and I is this (if someone can find the clip please post it):

Buu: "Ok! Buu's going to go destroy a city now! Bye bye!"

Mr. Satan: "Ha ha! Ok! Have fun!!!...."

watches Buu fly off

"YA FAT PIG!!!!!!"

LOL

Coincidentally I read all of the Boo arc today up until this point (already read the last volume multiple times) and I don't disagree. Well I don't think it's bad, but the intention is pretty clear that Goku wants the kids to handle shit themselves. Makes sense considering he's dead. But for no real reason he's given life back and handles it with Vegeta, Satan, and the dragon balls. Actually no involvement from the kids. I think it might have to do with the fact that he definitely knew he was ending it soon and wanted it to have Goku do the last thing or w/e idk

Are you quoting the right person? Because I said nothing about people who like the prequels having inferior taste
not in this thread anyway hehe
. All I said were that there are plenty of specific, detailed criticisms about what people don't like about both those movies and GT, criticisms that have been outlined explicitly over the last 10,15, 20 years. Saying that people who don't like either are just "blind hating" is both wrong and lazy.

Just remembering Para Para bros. And Goku and Piccolo taking forever to do that technique to let Goku get out from hell (I'll not even start to that "lets replace numbers with food names" joke) are enough to conclude that thinking of GT being better than Dragon Ball is the peak of insanity.

Also those goddaned smirks all over the place. Art unfortunately was garbage in mostof the episodes to make things worse.

Super has been much better than GT so let's not kid ourselves. This is coming from somebody that actually likes GT.

Rewatched the Buu saga and where is South Kai Buu? Shouldn't he be inside Buu with Fat Buu? Also shouldn't Dai Kaioshin not have Buu in him anymore? Idk. Seems like Fat Buus existence by the time Kid Buu appears makes no sense.

People can totally like GT. They're just prioritizing things that most DBZ fans aren't. Maybe they like the space travel, Trunks being a main character, or the saiyan tail being revisited.

I like many of GT's ideas, but their execution was pretty unfulfilling to me.

I thought some of the plot points in GT were silly but I loved the space exploration stuff. I really hope there's exploration in Universe 6.

The fact that there's a lot of comedy in the Buu sagas is why I love that part of DBZ. Especially the highschool, and Saiyaman stuff.

DBZ?

More like LAZ.

..'lazy'

Shite animation. You'd think Dragon Ball would be more important to them. The only way I could see an animator taking pride in the recent Super animation work is if they were the only person on the episode.

It isn't just the in-betweens. There are shit still shots that last a second. At that point it isn't even animation. How much of a budget do you really need to adjust the eyes of a drawing, or correct a smile gone wry? Then when there is animation there seems to be a motto of 'fuck shading', or '3 colours is enough'.

Awful.

I thought this episode was pretty good for the most part. Some shots looked odd, though.

The BoG fight was so damn good. I thought they felt quite powerful. This time around I can't even tell they are much stronger than their first time fighting at full power on Namek.

For me, Super was heads and shoulders above GT up until the Freeza shit. That portion is so stupid, it rivals the worst of GT.

For filler it's actually not bad. It allowed Krillin/Piccolo/Gohan to get some screen time while facing a threat without Goku involved and it showed Vegeta off doing his own thing trying to find Goku/reach SSJ.

How can you enjoy that saga? 90% of it just seeing Gohan get his ass kicked by Piccolo (whose secret plan was unbelievably inane, btw). Also, aside from making no sense whatsoever from a continuity perspective, Garlick also happened to somehow become as powerful as 2nd/3rd form Freeza while he was trapped in the dead zone? Really?

The Garlick Jr. movie however, is legit good.

That applies to this arc of super as well lol

Awful.

How many times do you need to be told that it isn't a budget issue? It's a time and resources issue.

Toei is spread incredibly thin right now, they literally can't afford to put more people on Dragon Ball Super.
Shueisha and Bandai want an ongoing weekly series and Toei has to deliver it, even with all of the other stuff they have going on.

Then that's them not allocating enough of a budget (a manpower one), to the detriment of the show.
