Honestly, I think that 19 and 20 not being the androids from Trunks' timeline is the most transparent "woops, my bad, here's a better idea lol" from Toriyama in the entire series. It literally makes no sense. Goku's heart virus being delayed is worse though

I saw the heart virus thing as more of an excuse to get Goku back on the sidelines so the rest of the cast can keep talking about waiting for him to save the day since Toriyama likes reusing that idea.

No, that was his Editor stepping in and asking for new villain designs. That editor did the same thing for Cell's design, twice.

Doesn't seem like it. We don't know if he turned himself into an android in the future either, there's just no details that I know of.

Recall that trunks was a baby when the androids attacked and since 17 and 18 were the only ones alive by his later years, 19 couldve existed but vegeta and co killed him
Geto activates 17 and 18 and the rest is future trunks' history.

Its funny you bought that up i was quite literally looking up his age just now. He was 14!! Wow! Clearly dont care about those two anymore(if it wasn't obvious enough when they missed an entire movie!) Super made it no better with a fusion thats supposed to last 30 minutes being a gag just to have them headbutt the villian bringing nothing to the plot nor story. Its a shame

Plot twist: Future Trunks didn't know that time travel makes it so only a body of one type may exist at a time. Future Trunks stole Trunks' older body, he will never grow.

Gohan was quivering with fear at the thought of fighting Cell, but Goku was completely oblivious to his feelings. He even helped Cell out. And his response to Gohan beating Cell? "My son doesn't need a father figure anymore. Bye!"

And no, Goku really doesn't care about his family, at least, not in the way that any of the other characters do (Even Vegeta). He sees Gohan, Chichi, and Goten as companions and friends, not really any different from Piccolo, Yamcha, Tien, Trunks, Vegeta, and Bulma. The concept of familial love is lost on Goku. That's straight from Toriyama.

Goku had plan, but didn't understand Gohan had different feelings about fighting than he does(hilariously enough some fans are having that same issue right now), but people try to use that spin narratives that I just can't get behind. Goku stayed dead after the fight with Cell for legitimate reasons rather than negligence like you are trying to imply.

I feel incredibly deep sorrow, about the fact that we are never getting this animation ever again, even though it used to be the norm. :/

They made brawling look insane. Now it's about as exciting as a drunk dude punching another drunk in a bar and vomiting at each other/throwing ki beams. Fuck that.
