.

Holy shit I thought this was an edit at first.

I loved the first epsiode. A wave of nostalgia come rushing back. Even the humour was on point. The focus on Trunks and Gotens good hearted journey for the bottled water was rather cute. Can't wait for more.

Well the idea that Goten grows up to dislike fighting (prefers to date chicks and refuses to enter the tournament but Goku forces him to) is canon.

Yeah yeah, but i still doubt Pan is stronger than him since he still should be a super saiyan. Also, canonically, Goten first match is against Buu, and Vegeta is in the tournament, there's no way he get to the finals lol.

It was.... Meh...

My main issue is that this doesn't seem like a new Dragon Ball series, it doesn't seem like a sequel, but rather an extension of Dragon Ball Z. I know that is what a lot of people want but... Well, not me. =/

Some people think differently. I would be one of those some people.

It feels more open to revel in its inherent goofiness. But I think it needs time before we can grasp its 'feel'. Especially a wait for the 'Universe 6' plotline.

Get a .gif of Goku saving the tractor from the drop.

I'm talking more about the overall designs, which feel very much DBZ, and the very short time skip.

"It's Toei".

I'm starting to get annoyed.

Look at Saint Seiya Gold of Soul whatever : Ugly as shit in 90% of scenes

Sailor moon : Ugly as shit

One Piece : Ugly as shit for 30 episodes in a row

Naruto : hahahahahahahahaha

What we have in DBSuper is perfectly acceptable for an on going series that doesn't even have manga counterpart.

Also, while I could agree in the "sliding" from the tractor and stuff, picking ONE frame in between that NOBODY on earth can see without pausing is unfair.

I can find you ugly frames on any single anime on earth like that heh.

Vegeta's face was perfectly normal on the longest frame for instance :

Toei doesn't do Naruto.

I'm not sure if Smartass of misinformed. So I'll assume the latter.

This isn't the original version, the anime is the original version.

The manga is drawn by Toyotaro, who was also in charge of adapting Fukkatsu no F.

They have one chapter PER MONTH. You can surely infer that this isn't a typical manga => anime , like original DBZ or Naruto and co. This is Anime => Manga.

Both follow the main plotline written by Toriyama, the DBSuper plot being the "full story", while the manga gets rid of everything not related directly to main plot.

Toei doesn't do Naruto.

Naruto is still an on going series, with shitastic animation, so the fact that Toei doesn't handle it still perfectly illustrates my point, since people were making the assumption that DBsuper was bad because of Toei, while it's above their other productions AS WELL as the other on going top series like Naruto.

RoF is not cannon either?

There has never been an officially defined Dragon Ball "Canon" to begin with.

The latest series seems to be retelling the previous two movies but there has been no confirmation how exactly it will change their plot lines.

The only major difference between the two thus far is that Beerus was asleep at this point in BOG while in Super, he's awake and destroying planets.

So SSG is thrown out too?

RoF is cannon, but the events in the movie may or may not differ from the show. The show will will cover both movies and has already ret-conned BoG once so it's safe to assume they might make a change or two for RoF.
For real we need a new OT title:
Dragon Ball Super |OT| Yes, both new movies are cannon, no GT isn't

To be fair - One Piece improved MASSIVELY in the last few weeks for some reason

One change I hope happens is make everyone else not useless anymore :V.

So my rewatch (starting with DB) is going slower than expected, but just got to one of my favorite moments of early DBZ.

Hope Super can deliver the occasional "fuck yeah" moment like this.

I firmly believe that people expecing Toriyama to redeem certain characters in Super are going to be disappointed. This series will follow Dragon Ball Z's style, so you can be sure Gohan and pretty much every human character will be on the sidelines.

DB Super will be a show about Goku and Vegeta.

Needing certain characters to do certain things is just the worst attitude to have going into a show anyways. The characters should do what the characters want to do, not what grubby fanboy hands would reach in and force them to do.

funny you say that because Krillin, Tien, Roshi, Jaco, Gohan and Piccolo had a pretty extended and awesome fight scene in RoF.
so yeah, keep speaking out of your ass

As long as Vegeta gets some time to shine. It seems like anytime they have an opportunity to make Vegeta useful they take it away and make Goku the solution.

This will be fine with me. I personally expect most of the "other" characters to be featured heavily in the non-fighting scenes, as usual, though.

I'm primarily a Goku fan, but (RoF spoilers)
Vegeta totally got robbed of his victory at the end of RoF.

Guys. Toei works on multiple series at the same time. It's not the mythical "budget" it's lack of time. They work on -

One Piece
PreCure
World Trigger
Sailor Moon Crystal

and now Dragon Ball Super, which actually looks pretty good compared to the other ones so far.

Using in betweens as evidence that the show looks bad is laughable, you can't see those unless you pause. It's like saying smears in older cartoons is bad animation.

Toei can also produce great looking shows like Kyousougiga and Mononoke. But those won't go on for 100+ episodes and have more talented and prestigious staff.

You can pretty much gather importance by the ending and how quickly they show up. You've got:

Goku's Family - Show mainly revolves around them.
Bulma's Family - Second family to show different perspective and has a lot of focus.
Krillin(and family) and Picollo - Those friends you hang out with and who visit.
Yamcha, Tien, and Chaozu - Those friends you don't really hang out with anymore, but you still invite to parties.
Roshi, Puar, Oolong, etc. - Those friends you invite to parties, but don't actually interact with too much.
