Yeah that's the part I'm cool with and so how long it took didn't bother me. I'm simply saying with their strength level, when Trunks finally decided the snake needed to go, a simple punch without powering up should have instantly defeated it. Maybe if he acted like he wanted to toy with it it wouldn't have been so bad but he was irritated at that point and was looking to send it flying. They are kids, their goofing off, not taking the fight seriously, etc. etc. but just by raw strength alone, that snake would have been toast from one punch.

Anyway, I know it's not going to stay like this and they'll eventually get serious against more formidable foes and display a lot more power. I'm just speaking to what we've seen so far and what I feel is off. As I mentioned before, it shows Goten go SSJ in the opening credits so we know that will change.

Not instantly killing the snake adds up with the deal that they can't really show their true power in public...the cant fly, cant turn SSJ or anything in a public area, so they are holding back.

The "not flying" thing is the only thing that bothers me...didnt Goku and even Krillin started levitating Mid-Dragon Ball? It feels kinda off that everybody outside of the fighters circle doesnt give a shit about Goku or whatever...he is just the guy who ended Red Ribbon Army, Piccolo, won one of the tournaments and so on...yet after the Saiyan saga, mankind didnt even bother to ask "what happened to that kid" someone should give them the memo already...

Tenshinhan and Chaotzu casually fly around starting from their debut in the 22nd Budokai, but Goku and Kuririn only fly in the 23rd Budokai, near the ending.

Still flying seems to be quite normal back then, but now mankind completly lost past knowledge? Weird choice, but we are talking about Toriyama so......

I don't think it was quite normal. Tenshinhan and Chiaotzu were pretty much the first characters to fly in the series, and IIRC it was their master who invented the flying technique. That's also why the Flying Nimbus was so important at the start of the series.

Ya'll need to get in on this DBZ mobile game. Shit is like the TCG on your phone

It wasn't normal at all, if I recall correctly the characters were surprised by it. Also the tournaments weren't nearly as well-attended back then as they were by the Boo arc. It's been a while, but if memory serves sometime after the 23rd tourney (when the main characters stop attending) it becomes kind of "normalized" and mainstream when Mr. Satan is running the show.

The tournament was always big. IIRC, the entire city/island is centered around it. It wasn't televised though (at least I don't remember it being broadcast in the manga, but it was in the anime), while it seems to be during the Buu Saga one (and presumably also the one that Mr.Satan won).

Oh wow, the manga is already way different. I think that's great as I found the original Battle of the Gods story to be kind of lame.

There was no one around that stream and they clearly don't care anyway because they straight up flew and surprised people when looking at jewelery.

There's no defending this, guys! Anyway, I've already mentioned that it's two episodes in and much will change, I'm just simply providing my criticism thus far. No need to raise the defense force shields ;) I'm still enjoying myself. Actually the one thing that REALLY bothers me is Goku's VA. There's no amount of hyperbole for how bad it is (to me). He sounds like a child and it's incredibly jarring. Oh well, if I don't want to wait forever for the dub, I'll just have to deal.

Yeah it's nice because it makes it more worth reading despite having seen the movie and even watching the Super anime. It's pretty nice to have a more concise telling of the story alongside the anime that doesn't have bloat or filler so fans can enjoy their preference or both. I'll be enjoying both.

They should dedicate an episode to Pilaf and friends, covering the events that took place before BOG.

That's the kind of stuff I want to see with these retellings of the films. Expand on stuff that was rushed/ignored in the films.

It's definitely bigger in the Boo arc though. Goku and Krillin comment on it and Piccolo says it's soulless now. I guess what I meant is I feel like the tournament was more for martial arts enthusiasts and stuff, and back in the old days you'd see guys who could use ki like Tao Pai Pai. But by the time of Boo it's like regular citizens watching and stuff.

I'm very into this! This series feels silly and whimsical again, a proper balance of high octane action and playful adventuring. It basically clears up all complaints I have about either series.

Yo! Dat second chapter of the manga!
Super curious what is going on with
Champa
!

Well episode 4 is named after the Pilaf gang, so it will likely have a good amount of focus on them.

I have no idea what Japanese pilaf sounds like but I think his English voice adds alot of humour to the character so I'm interest to see if he seems as funny in japanese

His Japanese VA is Shigeru Chiba. His voice is fairly deep and raspy, but he can go extremely high pitched as well.

Fun fact: I'm an idiot!

Fun fact: Shigeru Chiba also voices Buggy the Clown in Japan. The English VA for Buggy is Chuck Huber... Who also voices Pilaf in DB! It's a cool parallel.

Mike McFarland actually plays Buggy in One Piece. He's Master Roshi in DB/DBZ too. Chuck Huber plays one of Buggy's crewmates (the lion guy I think?) and he's Pilaf and Android 17 on DBZ.

It's retelling of both battle of the gods and revival of F, before moving on to a new story arc.

So we're expecting to have a totally new enemy after Beerus and Freezer? hypeeeee! My hopes of seeing a brand new SSJ transformation, aka SS4 re-imagined by Toriyama are still alive.

Lol are they they really doing that rematch so DBZ fanboys can shut up about Goku losing? You can't even use anything from the new movies, no new feats or techniques, he's just an indeterminate amount stronger, trying to say anything from that is the definition of arbitrary.

will end same way

goku beating superman

superman goes into sun and abuses bad writing

superman is now jesus and is bigger than the beatles.

Goku doesn't lose rematches. He now knows his weakness and will use insta movement to fight him on a planet with a weak sun like Namek or King Kai's planet

Normally, Goku wins if we're going by their usual, normal states. If people go by 'Superman moves a planet', then he wins by practically indeterminate numbers like Silver said while Goku's training on a 10x gravity planet with a bunch of weights. In other words, Superman has the benefit of being in much more material as well as having different writers making his overall power and fighting ability inconsistent compared to Goku who's mostly written by one guy.

Superman just has so much more material.

They really need to just stick to one version of Superman. Like the one in the Justice League/Animated cartoon. The comics are way too convoluted it seems

Goku soon will be fighting against someone who destroyed half of a planet with a finger though. He's still weaker than Beerus, but it's not like they're on completely different levels after Goku gains SSJ God. At least in BoGs, Beerus was using more than half of his power against him and was out of energy by the end of the battle even if he won.

They might go with God Ki = magic, since divine powers are generally considered magic by DC. I don't see any reason to redo this match up before these God forms even have any impressive feat unless they're going with that.

This is supposed to be the new incarnation of Superman aka NU52. From what I know, he seems to be one of the weaker variants although he does have impressive feats like benching weight the equivalent of the planet for 5 days straight but then not so impressive feats such as knocking himself out flying into the moon or a nuk being able to take him out stated by Zod.
