Dragon Kong Country Returns 3D: new trailer

Nintendo, look at this thread. Dragon Kong Country, make it happen.

OT: Never played the original so getting this is a must for me.

Seriously if you have played an FPS or racing game at 30fps then you should be able to manage here if it was locked, surely?

Hmm this does seem quite fast paced. Ah well too bad for you lot missing out, I'll be getting this eventually hopefully and doubt I'll have much trouble after playing wipeout at 30fps so much.

Never played this, can't wait!
Kinda wish this was a Donkey Kong 3D Collection though and also had Jungle Beat with normal controls and 3D.
I love that game but it's just a chore to play.

New levels look great. That DK robot reminds me of one of the Wii version sketches from the image gallery, so it's possible Monster Games had recycled some rejected Retro Studios ideas for the new levels. Having said that, the technic downgrade is remarkable, as well as the lower framerate.

I hope Nintendo will announce soon the true Donkey Kong Land Returns, or a Donkey Kong Country Returns true sequel for WiiU, because this port NEEDS a reason in order to exist and I don't see that reason right now.

Oh, right, 30 fps platformer...and it's still jaggy as fuck

Nocturnowl, help me get hype for this
It's Donkey Kong Country Returns sans waggle and with extra levels that may turn out as awesome as the rest of the game, you don't want to miss out on more levels do you?
If that's not doing it for you then i'll bring out the ultimate trump card, the more sales this game gets the more likely we are to get an actual sequel that you so desperately crave, irrefutable logic if I do say so myself.
Actually I have one last ace up my sleeve, here we go, this ones a real corker, you get an excuse to play DKCR AGAIN, you get to return to the return.

I'm saying I like the philosophy, which is what I quoted, didn't even mention what you're posting about. Can you even prove he is the reason that's in the game?
Actually I think the Iwata Asks for this game said as such, Miyamoto wanted them to add blowing or tables would be upended.

I cannot read this thread at work. I am dying of laughter.

Dragon Kong sounds amazing.

They released one for the 3DS running at 30 FPS

I don't think that matters as much as home console and I think it's unlikely it would be 30 on the Wii U - ONLY if they really try and push the graphics to catch up with next-gen? Not that necessary really though.

They released one for the 3DS running at 30 FPS

3DS hardware is extremely weak and Nintendo wasn't familiar with the architecture at the time, compared to the PowerPC architecture that they've been working on for the past 13 years and rarely release games that run at <60 fps on.

Rarely? Most of their 3D games barring the Galaxy games run at 30 FPS. The 2d games usually run at 60FPS though.

No they don't... Metroid Prime 3, Other M, Sin & Punishment 2, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Wii Sports/Play/Fit/Party all run at 60 fps on the Wii. Nintendoland, Pikmin, Wonderful 101 are all 60 fps on the Wii U.

Xenoblade, The Last Story, Skyward Sword, and Twilight Princess all ran at 30 FPS. Pikmin 3 also runs at 30 FPS. Although I guess that isn't close to most, but it certainly isnt rare

I've been so excited for this since it was announced. Never got around to the Wii version.

I wish I understood why people get so up in arms about frame rate. How did anyone get by on the NES days of gaming? I'm seriously asking.

Maybe it's good that the game being locked at 30 means nothing negative to me whatsoever.

So excited!!

NES games were 60 with slowdown, just like the SNES.

To this day I still don't know how the fuck they got Corruption to run at 60FPS on the Wii. Fucking black magic I guess.

Pikmin 3 has been running at 60 fps every single time they've showed it.

Yeah that one really makes no sense. It's a shame Retro has lost so many people since then, but they seem to still be able to make quality games. Just imagine the kind of stuff they would be able to create if none of the original talent had left.

People who have actually demoed it say otherwise, so I assume you're going off that E3 article from last year.

30 FPS is just a complete hype killer for a platformer especially a 2d platformer. 3d Mario U better be 60 FPS or heads will roll.

Well Super Mario 3D Land was 30 and it played fine. I agree with you in that most games should be 60, if not all, but i think DKCR will be just on the 3DS. Man going to 3D land from Mario U felt really weird.

Maybe I'll play this now.

Refused to with the Wii motion controls

I can almost guarantee that you'll like it. I absolutely loved everything about that game, I'm even more excited now that there's more levels. I always felt like there should be a little more than that one last level. Just wish there was a file transfer. That may sting a tad. All I had left were most of the time trial levels. Beat that game back and forth, if you follow me.

Goddamn you, that's pretty convincing, I'll have to take all this into consideration

All of the comments I can find regarding the framerate say that it's 60, where did you see that it's only 30?

Refused to with the Wii motion controls
Even with the wii motion controls it was easily one of the best 2D platformers. After NSMBW, NSMB, YIDS, Rayman, and Sonic Rush I thought I just no longer liked 2D platformers because I couldn't get into most of those and while they were okay they weren't that enjoyable. I tried DKC2 on the VC after DKCR was anounced for Wii and absolutely hated it. A friend gave me DKCR and it really renewed my interest in 2D platformers and I haven't had that much fun with a platformer since World.

"Return to the return" would be a great tagline, lol.

Also, Dragon Kong sounds incredibly badass. I'm picturing like a ronin Funky Kong with red scale armor.

Someone DeviantArt dat shit.

Did they capture that footage themselves or was it from a prerecorded video? I remember they also did a test on the Wonderful 101 (then Project P-100) trailer and concluded that it was only 30 fps, even though the game runs at 60.

Pretty sure this is footage from themselves, and other people on gaf who have played it at recent Nintendo events have confirmed its 30. Unless they've changed it in the last few months its running at 30FPS. Who did you read saying it ran at 60?Also do you have a source on where they called W101 running at 30FPS?

Can't find it atm but they definitely posted an article where they claimed Rayman, NSMBU, Project P-100 and others were running at 30 fps based on their analysis of those games' trailers... I imagine they took the article down after they realized their error.
