Dragon Quest 11 (JP) |OT| whynotboth.gif

Are these tied to StreetPass? I don't get those where I've lived with 3DS (including two metropolitan areas).

It's tied to the streetpass feature. However, you can get the little guys in the game on your own by finding them on fields, and the game will occasionally give a welfare streetpass match if you streetpass for too long without finding anything. I can't streetpass either, and I'm sure I'll still finish this stuff.

Ah ok. Sounds like I'd be covered. Cool because that is a feature I am intrigued by.

Good to hear. They threw us a bone with the DQM remakes by letting online battles populate your streetpass zone on top of some occasional NPCs, so I was hoping they'd do something comparable here.

I guess I should be fairly close to the end, although I still
don't have sisters back in my party. Also, Camus should recover his memory soon
(late game story spoiler!). The game decided to throw a few renkei quests in my face at once and for one I even had to respec the Hero to unlock a skill for a weapon I'm normally not using, sigh.

I still have a few quests to unlock, but the only one I feel I might have problems with requires
hero to have 330 charm
. Hopefully this problem will solve itself.

Also, the stream is back up!

There are so many places to explore now with the ship. I want to explore everything but I don't want her to be underleveled when she join.

You can recruit her and
Rou
and then go back to sailing exploration. The upcoming events are really great imo and it feels really satisfying to finally have the full party together and explore the world a bit more. This is what I've done during my current playthrough.

Oh man, why i didnt bought it digitally. Im still waiting for my order to be shipped from nippon-yasan after i payed it more than a week ago. Im thinking of cancel it and place a new one at solarisjapan, but first i need my money back and i have no answer from their customer service about this issue.
I want to play this game so bad. :(

I bought from Play-Asia and they have two shipping options, Economy and Express. What do you think I went with? When I used Economy last time, it took 10 days to get here and that was for the Japanese 3DS OoT. I used Express and it was here Monday evening when I ordered it Friday from NJ.

Edit: I just had Martina and Row join me but I have been leveling of course with the following

Hero - 31
Camus - 32
Veronica - 31
Senya - 30

The others are in their mid 20s

I'm trying to finish all quests I can before progressing with the story, since I feel I'm getting near the end, but damn.
One of the rare monster quests is taking me over 30 minutes...

I'm so jealous of all you guys. I wish I could read Japanese. The wait for the English release is going to be excruciating :(

I can't. I imported and am using a Wiki. I haven't been importing as long as some people I know have (SFC days and possibly even earlier) but say for example Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green, Pokemon Emerald, and Dragon Quest VIII (all 2004 releases in Japan) I had to have NOW. Not later.

Yeah, I feel that might actually take away from my enjoyment if I were trying to translate everything they said and battle commands and menu navigation and such

I don;'t know if I could do a whole RPG with a wiki beside me. That's a lotta work.

I LOVE Dragon Quest and honestly (and it might have helped that I have played them before) the game has flowed just from me doing basics like talking to people and moving to what I THINK is the next area.

I recently completed Pokemon Moon in English and that was so stiff for me, I took forever to finish it.

Edit: That being said. I am wondering how do I defeat the Rotting Corpse in the Level 2 Streetpass game. Aeana do you know? I think my ranked guys are still too low with the highest guys being D.

lol I hope I didn't ruin my karma I started on 16 coins went to slots and got somehow twice metal slimes for like 30 metal bonus slot tries. I'm now at 1370 coins.
That feels like really good return even if it's just small fish numbers for now.

My ability to stream is going to be hindered starting today so folks will have to see that stuff for themselves! =o

I missed the morning post game stream cause of work, but I hope when you go after whatever the end boss is you'll record it for us to ogle later. Even if I'll eventually play the JPN version myself one of these days, I've really enjoyed everyone's streams and screenshots of the game so far. :)

Hey Aeana, are all the previous games included in the street pass stuff?

I've heard of people visiting all words except for VII and VIII.

I wonder if this game has legacy bosses like IX, that'd be really cool, they'd make more sense on the 3DS version, it'd be great if after certain quests you could just fight the final boss of whatever game you visited.

I haven't unlocked all of the pedestals yet, but I'm pretty sure there's one for each of them. Just checked the pedestals, and found ones that are titled after DQ7 and DQ8.

Can't speak for bosses yet, but can say 100% all 10 DQ worlds are in here.

That's cool.

I wonder if for the VIII world the characters will look well proportioned rather than chibi and if they look low poli on the IX world.

I saw Aeana meeting with the princess from II, if anybody meets Maribel or Yangus please take pictures, I'd really like to see what they say.

Here's 9:

It's just the standard 3DS 3D look.

Is it really so bad that they have a child character? It's not like they sexualize her like she's a 1000 year old dragon like in so many other Japanese games with young females. I don't understand what your problem is other than she's a child.

And many DQ games have children characters.

She isnt a child though. She is an adult or atleast in her very late teens but has the body of a seven year old.

Finally got the Magic Key, so time for some backtracking...which I'd need to do anyway since I forgot to activate the Bowgun Quest. About 31 hours in now.

Just need to know one thing, is sylvia a good character?

Yes from my view. He has a lot of weapons skills and he learns Killer Juggle which Red had in the VIII 3DS version and can do a lot of damage.

Where is the Magic Key? I am in the Casino and I want to trade in my coins. How do I do that?

Magic key you'll get as part of an event in the city south of the medal academy. To trade in your casino coins, go to the counter with the treasure chest marked on it inside the casino.

Phew, after today's session I'm 50+ hours in and still feel like I'm 2-4 stories away from the final dungeon. I'm surprised that so many people here were able to finish it around ~50 hours. Out of curiosity - did you do all the sidequests or decided to screw it past a certain point?
I currently have only 3 left, but can only do 1. Finally got the
flying thing
, but before I start using it, I have to take care of some other business (
at least one town still needs my help
).
To be honest at this point I don't even know if the stuff that I'm doing is a part of the main story or not, but I guess that will become clear soon.

Difficulty definitely ramped up during the last 2 boss fights I did. Before that, I have a party member die maybe once or twice total, but during those 2, I was actually quite close to losing. Enemies suddenly started hitting hard. Also, 3 moves in a row? Come on.

Again I thank you and again I say *DURP* because I went downstairs and found the girl easily who sells coins and figured also that the trade in was downstairs too. It's on the sides.

Edit: How early can I make a Platinum Shield? White Shield seems good to buy but I want better.

You get most of the recipes from bookshelves/quests - I don't remember which one had the recipe for the shield, but I'd guess the former. You'd have to progress the story by quite a bit to unlock the location with it though, if my memory serves me right.

You can either buy it from a merchant or have the recipe and ingredients (you won't get platinum for a while iirc).
Blacksmithing in X works differently than the alchemy pot - you need recipes for everything.

Makes sense. Basically they (DQ's creators) probably want to add a little sense of realism as though you yourself were actually making something and looking at a list of ingredients rather than just collect them, throw them in a pot, and let the magic work.

Unfortunately, I am not happy with Soritco's casino prizes.

Where is the squirrel in Sortico or next to that I talk to?

Edit: I think I am going the right way, I just went through the floodgate.

Bowgun quest? It's been a few hours since I've gotten it is that something you can activate soon after?
(I just got the ship)

Bowgun Adventure is available once you finish the Samadhi part with the scorpion boss. The NPC sis right outside of the palace.

This was discussed a few posts before. There is no real consensus around him. He is camp and over the top but also depicted as a strong character accepted by the other characters. Translation work for him might be tricky.

I have unlocked a VII world. It is the crystal mine. It uses some VIIr assets in XI engine.

DQVII first vignette was way more meaty than the I, II and IX vignettes I previously unlocked. It was a complete dungeon and a boss. Great stuff.
My yocchi are pretty weak. Any advice on how to recruit stronger ones?

Until I got this quest to kill an enemy ~in the rain~, I thought the weathercows were cute but useless! Nice to see they're actually there for something.

Starting to pull ahead of my 3DS progress in the PS4 version. Out of the desert and into the marshy area. Sylvia is a cool guy.

On 3DS I'm just finishing up the dungeon with Veronica.

Should I be doing more of the quests? Am I missing out on cool things?

EDIT: It's cool that you can use the bow gun to attract enemies.

The rewards for the quests have all been pretty worthwhile so far on average. Many of them later on actually have cute stories attached, too.

Do a lot of the appearance changing items come from quests? I've been seeing some pictures of parties all decked up and lookin' super cool.
