Yes, but what ARE the main differences of the PS version?

MikeE21286 said:yeah, I have a slim ps2....is this difficult to accomplish. I came across this thing called Free McBoot? Looks like that can play imports without a mochip or anything, just a ps2 mem card?

Mejilan said:I don't think Free MC Boot alone is enough. To my knowledge, there's no way to get a PS2's laser to read a foreign disc without a hardware mod.

Caravan Heart, yes. Slime Morimori is coming, but not done yet.djtiesto said:That's really cool, I need to track down a copy of the PS2 remake. Was a Caravan Heart translation ever released, or a Slime Morimori translation?

An alternative is if your PS2 has HDLoader.inner-G said:You can patch > burn > play on a modded PS2 I believe.

It's sold out online, but use the store locator to see if there's any place nearby that has it in stock.
Aeana said:Your best bet would probably be to actually try to find a PS2 network adapter, and then throw a compatible hard drive in there and set yourself up with HD Loader. Though network adapters aren't exactly easy to find cheaply these days, it can be done and it's the best way to play anyway! Imagine playing DQ8 without load times!
The memory card thing is about installing Free MC Boot. You can do it yourself if you have some sort of cheat program like Codebreaker or Action Replay that lets you load downloaded saves onto your memory card, else you can just mail it to someone and have them do it. It's no big deal. And it's required to use HD Loader with the hard drive.
It will all work on your PS2 as long as the only reason it's dying is its disc drive, since you won't be using it.randomkid said:Haha I'm already overwhelmed. So checking on ebay it seems some people are selling network adaptors for around 30 bucks. But then people are also selling start up disks for three bucks.
Then PS2 hard drives seem to be 30-40 bucks.
So I gotta get all of these things, along with a memory card that has Free MC Boot (I don't have a codebreaker) to get HD Loader.
Will all of this work on my old dying fat PS2?

Also, the PS2 network adapter works with many hard drives that are not the official one, especially Maxtor models. If you have an old IDE hard drive lying around your house, there's actually a pretty good chance that it'll work and fit into the adapter/PS2. I'm using the hard drive that came with an old Gateway machine I got in 2001.
There's even a hard drive compatibility list if you have one and want to check: http://ps2drives.x-pec.com/?p=list
Some games still work better in HD Loader, though.Mejilan said:Also, you'll probably want to use Open Loader (OPL), as HDLoader is very old, very obsolete, and has long since been abandoned.
But the PS2 version is the best version of the game.airmangataosenai said:Kinda surprised they bothered finishing with the game already being released stateside.
Don't. People on the PSX-SCENE forums provide FMCB installs for free.randomkid said:I don't have a modded system or the ability to make my own memory card so I would probably just try to buy one.
