Dragon Quest Builders 2 announced for PS4/Switch, has multiplayer

Oh man! I loved the first one so much!
And this improves it in the ways I wanted; swimming/underwater exploration, flight (sort of) and multiplayer.

I can't wait for this. Assuming it comes to the us.

I really liked DQB1 but after an hour or 10 my interest started waning and I dropped it. So, this is a pass for me, multiplayer is meaningless for me.

I just hope the game world is randomly generated this time.
It really put a damper on replayability that the first one didn't have that.

Me and a friend will have so much fun with the multiplayer, something I wished for in the first game. I hope it is a big connected world this time.

Same this is excellent! It better get a North American release!

I loved the first one so I'm definitely in for more.

Shame the game doesn't look to be improved in the technology department. Though I guess you can't expect much if it also has to run on the Switch.

Come on, was this necessary? The bottom tier (Vita vs Switch portable) has been massively improved. Everything else is on SE.

Will happily buy both versions. I always support my most favorite video game/jrpg series by buying anything they release pretty much.

What a surprise ahah.
Definitely getting it, loved the first game's demo, but didn't get it due to lack of time and knowing a sequel was already teased fkxing several issues.

Can't wait, the first one was a great gem. Made me go back and play DQ1 on Android for the first time. I'm excited for multiplayer as well. Only hope they expand the hit radius of weapons.

OH MY GAWD!!!!! My wife is gonna be sooo excited! Can't wait to tell her! More fuel for me to get her a switch of her own

Really? Square is always pretty baller with supporting handhelds (which the Switch isn't exactly, but close enough).
Dragon Quest Builders was my surprise GOTY in 2016, so I'm definitely down for this. I wonder if some of the building restrictions will be different now there's no longer a Vita version

I hope that the transition for japanese devs from PPS4/PSV to PS4/NS means they'll slowly start to raise the bar in terms of tech.
Going PS4/PSV for so many games heavily compromised the evolutionary potential of the new gen, but since the Switch supports modern tech, we should finally start seeing more games using it.

Please come to the west

Funny enough I didn't care for minecraft but this game as little of it I did play I enjoyed.

ill double dip too

This is good to see. I wasn't sure if they'd bother considering Phyre Engine.

Wonder what it means for the other Phyre Engine games.

Also still weird that the new Itadaki Street is skipping Switch. That seems like the most appropriate fit.

Excellent was only a matter of time. I much preferred it as a spinoff than Heroes which of course already got a sequel. Not so fussed over multi personally but if that can fix a few issues the first had whilst expanding on the awesome parts, then this could be something really great.

Cool to see a sequel announced for this.

I have to admit however that I stopped playing the first game when I discovered that (A) turtling and base building, (i.e. my preferred play style for these kind of games) only got me so far when monsters keep finding ways to enter your base and (B) that all your hard work would be gone from chapter to chapter. Having to view everything in the world as possible building and decoration materials, including chandeliers, carpets and other somewhat rare stuff found in old castles and such, kinda drove my OCD up the wall as well though, as did it diminish my immersion in the game world as a world quite a bit.

That said, I definitely did have fun during the hours I played despite these issues so maybe I should try again either with the first or second game with a different, less standard RPG / base building mindset?

Edit: I really wish Squenix would start using some of Enix's other old IP sometimes though. Actraiser would for instance also work perfectly as a template for a building game meets action-adventure. Seeing the same DQ art and setting being used for so many games is a little offputting to me personally (though probably equating to a guaranteed success in Japan...).

OMG YES I loved the first game, and indeed only thing it lacked IMO was MP. I'm so hyped for this, need more details on the MP.

Any idea when we'll get more details, or if it's coming to the west?

I kinda dropped the first game after chapter 1 (which I spent stupid amounts of time with) but it was pretty enjoyable. I'd definitely buy this for Switch.

I got scared off from playing the first one because of the timed challenges to complete each chapter, but recently learned that apparently finishing chapters under a certain time is only for trophies and has no in-game effect. Totally would have picked the game up if I had known that, because it looked like a ton of fun.

Will be getting this on Switch, for sure!
