Dragon's Dogma TGS 2011 Trailer

Holy shit that does sound like Poledouris.

Oh, and how many people here realize that this game actually isn't an RPG?

The graphics look fine to me. *shrugs*

wow, this actually looks great (generic but whatever).

This is what Dragon Age II tried to be but failed spectacularly.

Plus they have more people working on this one game than they've ever had before.

Yep

Hence I'm nervous as shit about this. it just comes off in a way that at any moment it could be one giant train wreck. It really looks like this mamoth sized team is struggling to get it "right," what with the awkard animations, combat, framerate, etc.

That being said, I saw A FUCKING BEHOLDER in that trailer! I really do love the VERY basic DnD look to everything.

Also This is going to bomb so hard.

I really would love to hear Capcom's expectations on this. I'm sure they're completely ludicrous. Don't see this title having mass appeal unless they do something entirely different with their marketing campaign and throw heaps of money at it.

I dig it. I'll be renting it when it releases.

This was confirmed for no co-op right? Total shame too, because online co-op would have kept me on the edge to a possible purchase. :/

So, they just announced on the Berserk movie twitter that there's going to be a Berserk x Dragon's Dogma promotion where weapons and gear from the former are available in the latter

If the Dragonslayer is in this game... well, wouldn't something like that require it's own unique moveset? Or is there already a set of moves for "giant fuckoff sword"?

There's a class that can use a "giant fuckoff sword."

animation seems so... sloppy somehow. Like half of the time its not connecting. Climbing on the monsters looks the worst. Weird coming from DMC4 peoples, since animation was their forte.

Any predictions, based on the team leading the development?
Capcom doesn't have set teams or Production Studios anymore. They merged all employees in the R&D Division and split them up into different task forces (producers, planners, sound designers...).

They expect it to sell 1.5 million copies. Pretty meager for such a big team. However, they want to develop it into a series.

I still don't see why they didn't make a more story based (going by this trailer) Monster Hunter w/ co-op. Instead, we get this dull looking, faux western/LOTR style mess. =/

Visually it looks like they are trying too hard to appeal to western audiences.I think it lacks what the Japanese are most famous for.Their imagination.

Good luck Capcom. I'm not sure what it is you wish to accomplish with this title, but I wish you all the best in achieving it.

streaming sucks for me even though I can download at close to 1.5mb/sec. wtf? choppy and stops. :/ anyone got a youtube??

looks alright although from what I saw.. the first wolf encounter; whoever cut the trailer picked one where the camera clipped the polygons of the wolf? which me me go LOLOL

looks fucking fantastic if you ask me.

Looks great. Do I see 4p co-op in there? If so, count me in on day one.

no, i think it's AI controlled.

this is the one game capcom should be implementing online co-op for and it doesn't have it. wasted potential.

I played 360 version and the graphics were incredible except for some loading when you move in and out of buildings (I played through the dungeon part where you fight a chimaira thing)

It feels kind of like Mass Effect in that you have a squad you can command to help you, and they usually do come and heal you or take heat off when you call for help. The mage old dude is funny looking for some reason to me, like a slightly younger version of evil emperor from Star Wars.

The combat with fighter feels great, jabbing your sword into goblins is more satisfying than the simple hack and slash games.

It's probably my fave game of the show so far, I wasn't planning on getting it but now I definitely will.

Looks pretty slick.

I bet it's the first of Capcom's big PS3/360 titles this gen to not come to PC, simply because I'm interested in it.

Again gameplay from the showfloor, but I have no idea if shows anything new at all:

Why do they keep making this game playable on trade show floors. Its playing so terribly. Is it really almost done? Is this the low quality of game, framerate and animations to expect?

Game looks like it needs another solid year of development but keeps getting listed as "Early 2012" :/

Normally I don't get all forum-argue-y but if you look at a large-world, gameplay-driven game in which monsters can move across the whole field with you and think "them graphics", you really are part of why this generation is so by-the-numbers.

Its very pretty, yes, but that still doesn't excuse the sloppy animation. Skyrim and Dark Souls seem to have a far better handle on the concept (and even going back as far as SotC for the clinging onto a monster animations), and even Capcom themselves have better looking player animations and combat in their Monster Hunter games.

The epic trailers just seem to be masking what appears to be a terribly clumsy looking and inelegant game right now. Not the kinda thing I'd expect from DMC devs.

I get you. I remember when Uncharted came out I thought that animations were the future of gameplay enhancement.

Now, to be honest, I couldn't care less how janky my character looks between actions. It's not the smooth beautiful games that we look back on as the greatest, it's the games with the best gameplay (and to a lesser degree story).

Dragon's Dogma looks to me like it is taking real and challenging gameplay risks in a way that could really be something special. To disregard it because some dev spent 6 months on open-world AI for griffons instead of blending animations seems, to me, a misplacement of priorities.

I'm pretty excited for this. Skyrim looks fantastic and all, but I really like the idea of an open-world fantasy game build with third-person action in mind.

I know, it's scary right?

Just because it's the DMC folks doesn't necessarily mean insta-win. If anything, should have been the Lost Planet crew.

So, they are inspired by Berserk I guess?

Cause so is Dark Souls, and this looks like a poor man's imitation (art direction wise)

Thanks for the impressions man. Sounds great.

trailer is playing.

9/10 trailer. I'm buying this. it looks great and the bosses + what not all look great to fight. I don't get where the hate is coming from. It looks AAA.

Watch some gameplay. whats been playable at show floors doesnt ever match the fluidity and rigged 'perfect plays' on show in trailers.

What are the gameplay risks on show here really? I'd definitely say ruling out 4-player (or any) online co-op is certainly a risk, but not a very clever one. Its an open world, you fight stuff with swords, arrows and magic. I'm not seeing intricate Zelda like dungeons or top of the industry combat like Bayonetta or Vanquish. Nor am I seeing amazing AI on show as a Griffon circles around the play area before swooping in on you 5 or 6 times letting you get some shots in.

I guess I just don't see what this game is offering over Dark Souls or Skyrim. It only ever smells of a me too approach that seems undercooked and scheduled for release way too soon to keep up.
