Duke Nukem Forever - 5 dolla at Best Buy

You can use the disc as a frisbee and you get a free spare box for any other of your games. Five dollars is not that much if you see it that way.

Not worth it. Game is awful.

I just played it due to the nostalgia factor.

Even so, game is horrible. You feel like you're playing something from 2004-2005.

Give a better reason that it's horrible. Age does not make a game horrible.

Seriously. "It feels like an old game" is never a good reason for calling something horrible.

1. The load times on consoles are loooooong
2. The gameplay is all over the place
3. The graphics look unfinished
4. The humour isn't great, there's absolutely no irony
5. You can only hold four guns, none of which are very satisfying to use
6. There are a lot of awkward jump/gravity puzzles
7. There's no Duke Kick
8. Quick-time events
9. Repetitive enemies with 2004-level AI
10. It's an obvious rush job for a quick buck
11. Prey went through a similar development hell, but it was released at the right time and it's basically what Duke should have been so go get that for $5

1. This is admittedly bad.
2. Explain?
3. Bad graphics don't necessarily make for a bad game.
4. This is a matter of opinion, but I'll see when I get it if I agree.
5. 4 sounds like enough to me, but the lack of satisfying weapons is an issue. What makes a weapon satisfying though?
6. This is a bad thing? Sounds like something to break the monotony.
7. Okay.
8. This is not a bad thing. This is a very good thing.
9. Again, saying "feels like (year) here" is not a good way to say a game is bad. Especially not anything past 1970.
10. It obviously isn't, seeing as gearbox themselves had to delay it once.
11. Or I could get this. This sounds better for $5.

1. True (get the PC version!)
2. That's part of the fun. Variety is the spice of life.
3. Looks on par with most UE3 games (despite the fact that it doesn't run on UE3)
4. It's Duke humor, and a lot of it is from DN3D. I laughed plenty.
5. If you liked DN3D's guns, you'd like DNF's.
6. Awkward? Maybe. But it's also almost refreshing.
7. There's still a Duke stomp!
8. Not many.
9. Yup. Welcome back to straightforward shooting.
10. If 14 years is a rush job...
11. If you haven't played Prey, I recommend it. If you have, it can't hurt to give DNF a try at that price.

1. Yes, it's bad.
2. Play the demo and you'll see, it's not very satisfying
3. The graphics are inconsistent, sometimes they look ok, most of the time they look abysmal. This makes for a jarring experience.
4. I have a great sense of humour, I didn't laugh much at Duke's so-called comedy.
5. A satisfying weapon is one that's fun to use, one that feels good to shoot with. None of Duke's do this, and it's as much the weapon's fault as the character reactions to being shot at all. They're both flat.
6. Monotony is a great word, I like that you're using it already without even playing the game. That won't change. The puzzles are just as monotonous as everything else.
7. Glad you agree.
8. QTEs are not a very good thing, but whatever.
9. AI from 2004 is very different from AI from 2011. Not my fault you're unable to tell the difference.
10. It very obviously is a cash cow, and it's obvious from playing through it that it received virtually no love from anyone making it.
11. If this sounds better then go for it, you're beyond hope.

Its not about if I want to spend $5 at this point. Its about if I want to spend 8 to 10 hours(or whatever it is) of my life on the game.

No thanks.

Haven't even played the game, I just haven't seen very many valid reasons people call this a bad game. The valid ones are usually either a matter of opinion or small reasons.

Because it has been argued to death and back, in millions of threads. We've reached the point where you can call it a turd without writing a novel.

If people want detailed reasons, there's plenty of reviews, user opinions, write-ups and threads to look through.

Half Life 2? San Andreas? Metal Gear Solid 3? Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door?

Wow, I'd better go and buy it.

Duke is one of the better games this year, y'all.

I agree. However, Duke was kind of bad.
For me, the main reason was the mix between new and old. I'm not the "Games were better when I was young" kind of guy, but regenerating health and limited weaporny really hurts in a supposedly frenetic shooter. The AI sucks and the level design is kind of bad. Most of the driving/platforming sections were boring, too. The gunplay is somewhat satysfing, but it's not enough to save the game.
My two cents.

I enjoyed it enough to recommend the game, but not on consoles. The console version of Duke is an absolute mess.

Thought about it, but decided that $5 would be better spent on a footlong at subway.
Boomshakalaka!

When there are so many new awesome games available this holiday season, it'd be a crime to waste any time on a game that looks and plays like it started development over a decade ago. I'll admit, I was one of the many who were absolutely psyched about the game when it was finally given a release date. However I got a chance to play the demo and that completely changed my mind. It's a mess on so many levels.

Not saying there aren't people who would enjoy it, I'm just saying I'm definitely not one of 'em; even at $5.

It's funny, if someone would have told me 3 years ago that I could pay $5 to own a fully complete version of Duke Nukem Forever I would have jumped on it immediately. That being said, I'm not going to buy this and it kind of feels weird.

lol I just bought one. I had fun throwing the turd around in the demo, there has to be at least $5 worth of fun to be had on the rest of the game, right?....Right?

How can people not play Duke Nukem Forever? I mean, am i the only one who bought it at launch no matter how good or bad the game was because i had been kinda waiting for it for like 13 years? :)

It's much more appealing to be an Internet tough guy saying things like "THEY OUGHTA BE PAYIN' ME! 5 DOLLARS IS TOO MUCH FOR SOMETHING I HEARD WAS SLIGHTLY MEDIOCRE."

Clearly.
