You don't understand. I said that because every time I spoke with someone who told me that DOOM 4's music was good they ALWAYS went for BFG Division which I think is not good, which is why I ask for examples OTHER THAN BFG Division so that I can make an opinion on it.

The second part I would actually like to see somebody say that. Every time somebody was reviewing or talking about DOOM 4 they were like "the game is amazing, best game ever, wooooooooooooo! But the sound effects are pretty shit to be honest, guns sound like farts and all." Pretty much the exact same criticism I saw with the new Wolfenstein games, everything great but the sound mix.
Fair enough. Idk, I think it's a good song. I love that fight near the end of the game where you have to break these 4 containers in this big lab arena, and you're fighting I think every enemy in the game up to that point, it's chaos, and I love that song blasting throughout the whole thing. I think people probably reference that one the most because it is used a lot and has an easy name to remember, I honestly can't remember the names of any of the other tracks (I think there is one called Rip & Tear though)

Yeah idk man, after I played the game I watched a lot of post release coverage and opinion videos, talks with Mick about the sound design, I didn't see anyone trash it anywhere. Didn't read reviews because wtf cares about outlet reviews. I love the dynamically changing music that ramps up with the action.

Some of the most negative comments and criticisms I've seen live in this very thread TBH.

It seems you don't understand.

What I dont think you seem to grasp is that you don't ever give an example to why you think something is bad. You just scream something is shit without giving any actual real criticism or even a somewhat thought out opinion.

This is a gaming forum where people want to talk about games. Not a comments section for drive-by comments that have no real intelligence behind them.

If you want to have a discussion, have a freaking discussion in a civilzed manner and be opened minded that not only are you in the minority with this opinion, but that other people might have a different opinion.

The audio of the the guns in doom a are sub par in some aspects. But they aren't "shit." Especially comparing them to wolf. They are better than wolf by a lot.

So it wasn't my imagination about digs a SJWs . >.>

That shit stood out to me right away from the reveal. Especially the "Earth is the Universe's Melting Pot" commentary, lol.

My first thought was, "Oh shit, those who base their entire identity around being offended 24/7, feigning victimhood and virtue signaling false altruism are going to ONLY talk about that aspect as if id software just slapped their mum."

Oh, so you agree then.
I totally agree with the premise that you aren't going to back up your rather definitive original statements.

Oh really? Those are the best examples?
I computed these examples in 1.2 seconds. Care to disprove them or are you just going to counter-question them? Atleast i brought up examples.

Wouldn't the actual best selling PC games of all time be the best examples? Like Diablo 3, which was already absurdly profitable before it was ported to consoles like 2 years after it came out? Like World of Warcraft? You know, like games that are more popular than 99% of console games?
Dont let PUBG, Fortnite, or GTA V hear this. Right, all insanely popular games too.
Just citing a single example does not mean that every video game out there is a guranteed success when only on PC. You cite WOW, but for every WOW out there you have a dozen MMO's that wont reach that kind of playerbase, and are rather delegated to more obscure communities.

Diablo 3 sold like 30 million copies on the PC. It did not need console ports to be financially viable. It's laughable to say that PC exclusives aren't financially viable when there are many examples of them doing incredibly well.
Its also laughable:
  • That glory kills are universally disliked
  • To call everyone who likes the whole Rip and Tear mantra idiots
  • And not actually engage (for the most part, ill hereby recognize that you have, in fact, reacted to one facet of my post) in conversation but rather do potshot-deflecting.
As it stands for the bolded:
If you are going to use hyperbole like that and present it so staunchily as some kind of fact then ill expect a source where the majority of the playerbase disliked the glory kills. That means extrapolating reviews and processing them to get a discernable number. Are you willing to do this?

It's more accurate to say that certain types of games aren't financially viable as platform exclusives because they start off being too much of a niche.
Something i can agree with.

Something like D3 is basically a button masher that anyone can pick up and play. Something like Witcher 3 is starting out of the gate being of no interest to over half the people who play games.
And then also something that i dont agree with. Again a definitive claim, and with nothing to source with.

Obviously people don't know id's humor and history. Sure, its edgy stuff, but getting pissed over non-existent things is curious at the very least. Because at that stage i also expect people to get offended at this:

New weapons: The Ballista, A sword, a hammer.
... which is funny because Quake was supposed to have those melee weapons before that concept broke apart.

Generally I like that they are finally realizing the Hell on Earth vision. Doom 2 had it. Mods for Brutal Doom had it. The early stages of Doom 4 had it. Third time's the charm I guess.

is it going to have online multi player?
From what I heard and read, it will, and I know a lot of people were excited because it's being done in house this time around. I thought DOOM 2016's multiplayer was fun as it scratched a number of itches that I had, but it also felt kind of sloppy and strange. But because of my love of DOOM, I still had a good time with it. I'm wondering if them working on it in house will give them a better outlook and it'll come out even better than the previous. At least I hope so!

Nobody asked me why I don't like it, I will happily say why I don't, it isn't a secret on my part.

Sure, drive-by comments explaining precisely why I liked and disliked Doom 4 and why I am looking forward to Doom Eternal. Keep digging, mate.

If you want to have a discussion, have a freaking discussion in a civilzed manner and be opened minded that not only are you in the minority with this opinion, but that other people might have a different opinion.
Am open-minded, which is precisely why I asked people to tell me which song they like OTHER THAN BFG Division which I just don't like, so I can talk about THAT song and not constantly about BFG Division. I suppose there are more than one songs on the OST?

The audio of the the guns in doom a are sub par in some aspects. But they aren't "shit." Especially comparing them to wolf. They are better than wolf by a lot.
It was an exaggeration obviously, but not that much. The Plasma Rifle firing animation is shit though, the sound mix is passable, although most weapons really do sound like fart noises. Zombies are loud as F**K and almost make my speakers explode every time for some reason, while the double-barreled shotgun sounds very boring.

You mean everyone? Because that's basically all I've seen. Almost every semi-positive thing I've heard about them has been "well, they don't get in the way too much" or "they're not as distracting as I thought they'd be." No one would miss them if they were removed and an actual game design was put in its place.
I would miss them. In fact, despite being amazed by Eternal, one of my problems with the game is that I expected them to develop the glory system further, like double glory kills, glory kills with weapons etc.

Yeah really, I'm pretty shocked that it seems like they didn't touch it at all. Environmental GK, Double GK, Multi GK, various weapon GKs, there was a lot of ways to improve the system that seem fairly obvious.

I can give you that they maybe sound weaker than they should. But you're not helping your case by saying most of the weapons sound like farts. They don't.
So they do sound weak according to you? That was my point, they sounds very weak. Of course they don't literally sound like farts, by that I meant they sound weak.

Well we have the blade glory kills now so at least something new was added.

Well, the only one off the top of my head that I can remember sounding maybe less epic than it could is the BFG, it kind of just has a zap sound which isn't as impactful as it maybe could have been. No problems with the rest really, aside from the pea shooter, but I always felt that it sounded like that as kind of a joke, like why the fuck do you want to use this gun lol. I think this is a weird thing to get hung up on personally, since the game plays like a fucking dream.

I said it is just a little thing but one of many and they pile up. The game is fine, I personally have more fun with Shadow Warrior 2, but they are both excellent games for sure. Doom Eternal seems to be improving on many things I disliked about the first game. Honestly the one thing that bothered me the most was the Plasma Rifle firing animation, that just drove me up the wall every time.

Top kek! I especially like the reply "Do these people even have spines? I thought it was funny." followed by "Doom guy ripped them all out!" Truly the toppest of keks :D :D :D

Exactly. Although I know there is not too much chance for it, I hope they will add some.

Glory kills are a huge problem with Doom's design. It was basically their solution for making a faster pace FPS that you could play with a gamepad. Instead of ducking behind a 4 foot wall you just push a quick time button and get all your health regenerated. It's bad design.
Wait, no you don't, you only get a chunk of HP/armor....

In fact, ducking behind walls etc is a BAD design for this kind of gameplay, glory kills keep you in the action.

Any publicity is good publicity, I guess.

Man, as hilarious as it is, I still feel really bad for these people. There's so much more to life than this, why get so upset over nothing? Especially when it's clearly meant to be humorous and satirical. I mean, it's a video game, it's entertainment. Try and have fun! :(

I'll probably get the Switch and PC versions. >.>
Last time I double dipped with PS4 and Switch, but between the much lower resolution and the shaky 30 FPS frame rate I am not completely sure I would do so again. Doom Eternal seems to double down on fast paced action, you know the “thing that actually stresses how 60 FPS can affect gameplay” bit :), with an even more frenetic combat and even more emphasys on movement... this makes the difference in playability between 60 FPS and 30 FPS even bigger... uhm, will have to see (the “... but it is on a portable, it is mindnoowing it runs at all” kind of like tech demo appraisal should not be the reviewers angle again hopefully).

I know I will, physical as well as digital when it hits a nice discount.
I'll buy TWO PC versions, because DOOM is PC, boys! And I'll donate one copy to my parish, I'll find the most hardcore DOOM lover there and give him the game, or if I won't find one there I'll think of something else (I think it would look weird in the collection plate). Make a giveaway here perhaps.

I won't preorder. I am going to wait. If they remove it, then I won't buy it.
Chances of that happening are astronomically low, mate. I hope they add more stuff to rile-up the loony-left! MEGA, Make Earth Gory Again (or something).

Honestly I don't see them doing that at all. It offended a select few people that apparently don't have a sense of humor. There was no major backlash or anything, they're more than fine.
"Offended".

It's just virtue signaling false altruism from people who would never buy the game in the first place.

I don't buy the offended part for one second by most of them.

Oh, most certainly!

Some of them felt over dramatic, as did others. I don't believe all of them being true, but I'm sure a few of them unfortunately are.

Also, yeah, pardon me, "offended" is most certainly more accurate.

SJW = radical leftist. They are eternally offended by everything and can't take a joke no matter how innocuous. Micro-aggressions, unconscious bias, institutional racism, gender gap are scare tactics they use for political purposes.

The whole SJW mentality is people rebelling against adults and their parents for being laissez faire about these issues. Just wait until the SJWs have kids and their kids natually rebel against them by going back to being "offensive" on stuff. Kids ALWAYS rebel against parents no matter what it's about. You watch. It'll happen. This stuff always goes in cycles.

I hope the music this time is a little bit more melodic. Something you can actually hum instead of just a circus of garbled noise. It's fine when in game, but I could never listen to the soundtrack outside of it except for maybe one or two tracks.

You mean more like the remixes Andrey avkhimovich did for Doom I & II?

Give me an example and if you say "BFG division" then I can tell you right now that it is not good. There are some "ok" tracks in the game but they got boring fast, I switched music to my own and thus made the game a lot more exciting and enjoyable.
I don't know track names but one that stuck out and made me look it up is this one

I wouldn't even call it music. It's just a really drawn out, dark synth sound and it sounds sick. Overall though, I enjoyed the soundtrack. Kind of reminds me of the old THX sound, but way darker.
