I'm going to proceed from the mindset of
additions rather than
sequels as discussion of a follow-up game the day of release is incredibly naive.
First and foremost:
We need Galactic Conquest! The original
BattleFront nailed it so perfectly. For maximum firepower, get the voice actor who played the imperial officer for the tutorial: "In... Galactic... Con-quest."
There's a decent selection of air vehicles currently, but the bombers are not nearly as present. The Y-Wing needs to be made flyable, and the Empire needs their Assault Gunboats (Alpha-Class XG-1s) and Tie Bombers.
Additionally, the inclusion of some of the more advanced aircraft would fit right at home in Star Wars
BattleFront:
Vader's Tie Advanced, the production model Tie Advanced (sometimes referred to as the Tie Avenger), B-Wing, and the dreaded Tie Defender.
Older craft like the aforementioned XG-1 as well as the Z-95 Headhunter (precursor to the X-Wing) would similarly provide integrity to the Star Wars Universe.
I'm thrilled with the inclusion of the
Slave I. Easily my favorite starship in Star Wars. If I could add an additional "Hero" ship, it would be Dash Rendar's
Outrider. It may be somewhat of a knockoff
Falcon, but, hey, Dash is a knockoff Han... aside from one key difference: Han relies on luck where Dash relies on cunning and skill, which is present in each's respective ship as well: the
Millenium Falcon being a gambling prize, and the
Outrider being a business acquisition. The
Falcon out classes the
Outrider in several aspects, but it's a noteworthy ship nonetheless.
The Dark Trooper should definitely make a return (especially with such a heavy focus on jump-packs).
Let's
not have a return of
BattleFront II's ultra-linear "Space Battles." They're incredibly dull and repetitive. If space combat is to make an appearance, it needs to be to the order of
X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter.
In addition to the classic Imperial-Class Star Destroyer and the venerated Executor-Class Super Star Destroyer (seen in the background on some maps), the inclusion of Victory-Class Star Destroyers would help to flesh out the Star Wars universe. The aged Victories are similar in apearance to the larger Imperial-Class, though a bit narrower (proportionally), and distinct due to their short X-shaped fins on the stern sides. Newer source material paints the wings as much larger solidified triangular wedges, though the original open wing design holds more character.
