EA E3 2014 Press Conference Thread

its upto sony to bring the rain now, some decent UC4 and maybe GTA5? all hope is almost lost failing that. i bet the hosts on GT and IGN have loads to talk about lol..

that was astoundingly terrible.

The fact that most footage was of devs laughing, being outside, being in a bar, moving a mouse and clicking on stuff is laughable in every way.

People giving this a 4/10 or 3/10 are being too generous. Those scores reflect a flawed and bad conference in general. This conference was terrible except for 5 minutes.

I'm watching the IGN stream since Youtube went down, but I can't help but feel like the IGN staff watched a different, good conference.

Edit: Whoops, guess this is actually the Twitch stream. IGN was on Youtube. Anyway, these people are gushing.

Had they even started working on Mirrors Edge when it was unveiled last E3?

It seems weird to me how we're seeing so many games now with so little to show for 12 months work. You'd expect at least a cross section of gameplay or something.

How can anyone say PSN is on par with Live. It goes down way more often then Live. I have both consoles this Gen. And both from last gen. Live is superior when it comes to reliability.

It's true that pretty much everything except NHL/FIFA/UFC and battlefield was pretty much very early conceptual shots, we're not anywhere near seeing the final product. :/

Aside from the games being the boring EA dudebro shabang + The Sims and no new IP other than the car racing thing, this was not a very good performance. They gave us barely anything remotely substantial aside from Battlefield and Dragon Age, the rest was just conceptual stuff.

That was pretty bad. Also the Battlefield demo seemed very scripted so I'm looking forward to trying out the PC beta myself, to see what it's really like.

i'm listening to these jokers on twitch tv talking about how people accepted mirror's edge's minimalism last gen as though gamers weren't all about high-end graphics, and that nowadays people accept that a mirror's edge game has a style.

good fucking lord.

I also love how they decided to talk about how they were having "chills" looking at the "Frozen Ice powers" in the new Fable game... enough so that they didn't cut to what left they had of Battlefront. These guys are straight up shilling for "chills"

I went in knowing I wouldn't be interested in the majority of games shown, so that Criterion project was exciting to me. Even though nothing will come of it for years, I love the concept of having all these vehicles driveable in one game. Add in an open world and it could be a great time.

Honestly though, the game is nowhere near a complete enough state for me to start expecting things of it.

Oh, and Battlefield golf was funny.

There is bad, and there is stuff like this. I vaguely understand what I "think" that they tried to do (avoid CGI, maybe), but almost everything they showed was like "hey guys, we're trying, here is some concept footage. Hope you guys enjoy our sports games, Sims, BF and DA while we make new stuff."

After the StarWars opening and a bit from Dragon Age Inqusition, everything felt unorganized to me, by how they were set to be presented one after the other because as usually EA does as always, showing the most important main games at the end and let EA Sport at the beginning to flow.

I wonder why

At least, we got to see the sequel to Dragon Dogma.

PSN went down after this? Jesus, Sony's network woes may convince me to pull the trigger on the X1 more than anything Microsoft showed today did.

If that is your justification to get a x1, you might as well just go get it.

D-

Who gives a fuck about the following: Sims, sports games. That was 90% of their conference.
it's not exactly like sims and sports games are minor franchises

they got the licenses to all the major sports franchises, they are going to show them every year

Can anyone point me in the direction of an archived stream of the MS conference? Missed it as I was working, having problems finding one myself.

Live was down two or three times per day even after two weeks after Titanfall launch.

Or are you joking?

That was an abysmal conference.

And I'm still pissed at EA for them making Visceral develop a Battlefield game. At least we have the Amy Hennig Star Wars game.

I can see the reason why Microsoft did the traditional CG trailer thing. Because no one wants to see the conceptual testing phase of game development.

That Sims 4 trailer alone was the worst thing this E3 holy hell. It wasn't Konami Worst but sweet god, i couldn't stand that presenters voice for that Sims 4 trailer.

EA had nothing to show except concept game play.

Sweet God I hope Sony delivers, please.... I didn't miss work for disappointment.

Pretty decent GDC conference, absolutely terrible E3 conference.

That's one way to look at it. I actually didn't mind all the behind the curtain stuff, though it isn't very exciting. I don't think it was good or nearly as terrible as people are saying. Mediocre.

Look for ntkrnl's thread on gaf. Pretty much that, some third parties, and a bunch of CG. There, saved you 1.5hrs.

Mass Effect teaser was tiny but still exciting.
What we see from Battlefront was awesome.
Hardline looks like great fun.
The sports games are not for me, but they look kind of next gen finally. UFC looks great.

Too little actual gameplay and not enough Mass Effect/Battlefront: 5/10

I'm excited for many of EA's upcoming games, but I did not care for their press conference this year. It's great they tried something different, but this just didn't work.
