The fact that some people can't take Ed Miliband seriously because of what he looks like kind of says it all about our general national attitude to politics.

Yes, yes, I know. Charisma is still an important characteristic for a leader to have. But still.

Ed got in bed with the Unions and used them to stab his brother in the back and win the party election. He then stabbed the Unions in the back by going back on all his promises and basically told them to fuck off.

But we should still totally trust him because...

What a lazy understanding of what happened. 'The Unions' do not have a vote. Instead, members of organisations affiliated with Labour get a vote. Many but not all unions are affiliated with Labour, but it's not union bosses making the decisions, it is the actual members themselves, and they voted for Ed. He'd have won by an even larger margin under a plain one man one vote system. Ed won because he didn't alienate the Labour core by being a Blairite like his brother.

Not mine, but:

Yep, amazing.

Someone needs to put Miliband's name in the casting above the title though

It's more than just charisma though, non? I mean, the reason he kept repeatedly saying the same thing in that clip ("I think it's wrong for strikes to occur whilst negotiations are on going") is because he was determined to make sure that that line made the final edit, and the best way to do that is to ensure it's the only thing he says. Farage, for all his policy flaws (though I'm not sure he has many policies), eschews this particular sort of populism (admittedly he eschews it for a different, alternative one that seems a lot more authentic) but Ed seems determined to try and play a game he's really bad at. That's his choice.

Not really, it's just the icing on the turd cake.

He's also spineless(won't enact any of the ideas from the recent policy review because he's terrified of losing numbers in the polls), terrible at debates (whenever PMQ's goes off his script he's lost at sea and repeats nonsensical rubbish), and worst of all, has no deep labour principles - He was one of Browns top policy guys and backed the 10p tax rate fiasco in '08. Nobody who backed that should be on the Labour front bench.

I agree, looks aren't everything! The important thing to remember is OH SHIT

I still believe Ed Milliband is just a Sacha Baron Cohen character, and he'll release a movie of his exploits in the run up to the general election.

Why can't we have a decent looking charismatic PM that can actually inspire?

No clue.

Too many of these leaders and MP's are too young for my liking anyway.

Rather see someone like Alan Johnson in charge of the party, They'd fucking walk it. In fact they'd probably still be in power if he challanged Gordon Brown back in 2010.

Yep, plus he's a political automaton of the same species as Osbourne.

The only thing stopping me from voting Green or not bothering next year is that I'm not sure the union will survive another 5 years of the nasty party, and seeing as I live in an extremely close Lab/Con marginal I'm one of the lucky few who actually gets a vote that matters.

You can't make this stuff up.

Apparently, the feminist t-shirt comes from a sweatshop too.

The one labour were trying to force Cameron to wear!
