I'd actually argue that 2 is better graphically, but that 1 has a more consistent visual aesthetic. The motion blur in 2 looked really good.
Dark Souls 2 had textures straight out of a PS2 game. I'd say DS1 has the advantage.

I agree that Dark Souls 2 at times just looks so.................ugly. It looks the worst when you're indoors with stone walls etc.
For me, Dark Souls 2 is a step back from Demon's and Dark souls in terms of graphics.

Oh, I can't say I've heard of this Rapture thingy. I just recognized that symbol being written on the wall in blood, by Subject 16, in the first Assassin's Creed.
I'm pretty sure that dyergram is only mocking the constant "exclusive" questions from the former Project Beast / Bloodborne threads.
DS1 has terrible lighting, shadows and foliage (and its share of bad textures). DS2 looks miles better.

Art direction and visual consistency, yes (though Dks 1 also had a couple of rough spots). The tech behind Dks2 appears to be a lot more solid though. Very clean IQ, better effects and a rock solid 60fps (on PC).
There are definitely still times when I like how Dark Souls 2 looks. That downgrade is pretty unforgivable though. Could have looked a lot better than its predecessor. Hope they still have that stuff kicking around somewhere for Dks 3.

This is false. There are a couple areas that look noticeably bad in DaSII, but overall DaSII wins easily.
DaS1 is definitely the better game though, so go ahead and play it first.

Sorry to bump this, but little birds tell me Famitsu will feature a Miyazaki interview in the next issue (24th July). This one will be about From's new organizational structure, so anyone wondering about his extra responsibilities or the company's involvement with Kadokawa would be wise to tune in.

That'll happen anyway. The AC franchise is From's one internally published franchise that's successful.
I'm not familiar with these games at all and wouldn't be now if not for gaf, but were these games always developed with Sony's assistance? If so, wasn't the last one on 360. I may give it a try on my ps4, since Skyrim affected me so positively (my first rpg), but I'd rather not if it's gonna be multiplat at some point.
If you're referring to Bloodborne at no point will it be a multiplat. Also not getting why you wouldn't try this if it were multiplat? I mean it's not but From makes great games worth playing no matter where they show up exclusive or not.

You're confusing dark souls with demon's souls. Sony collaborated with from software for demon's souls. Demon's souls is only available on ps3. Same story with bloodborne, except this time it's on ps4 instead of ps3.
Dark Souls was published by Namco internationally and self published by From in Japan. Not sure if Namco owns the IP though.
Demon Souls and Bloodborne are collaborations between Sony Japan Studios and From Software.
People are still confused whether or not this game is PS4 exclusive.
